    *THE ZOOM FEATURE IS SUPPOSED TO WORK ON CERTAIN DISCS BUT NOT ALL*

    • @scotta6315
      @scotta6315 2 роки тому

      Yeah, this is a ridiculous issue, Shane -- I saw in your video that you mentioned the zoom feature wouldn't work with discs at all, and it had me shaking my head. One of the things I loved about my Oppo BDP-83 was its zoom feature, which allowed me to zoom in on non-anamorphic DVDs and get them to their proper aspect ratio; the UDP-203 had this, as did its clone, the Cambridge Audio CXUHD (which I owned and still keep in storage as a backup), but the Panasonics do not...if the Reavons don't support zoom on discs, it's really a WTF moment.
      At least you can set the aspect ratio in the setup menu to allow 4:3 DVD content to automatically stretch to fill the screen, like the Oppos did (and the Panasonics do NOT)...

      @@scotta6315 I have the x200. Zoom works with the DVDs I have tried and older Blu-rays. Boutique labels like Vinegar Syndrome's The Beastmaster 4K and Synapse's Suspiria 4K allowed zoom as well. Email support has reported it is a issue of the disc authoring and whether the studio allows zoom or not. Most of the newer release discs I have do not allow it.

    • @scotta6315
      @scotta6315 2 роки тому

      @@jjchmiel78 Thanks for the feedback, jj; it should work with ALL DVDs, but in the past I know some of these zoom features didn't allow manipulation of 1080p Blu-ray (so, for instance, if you wanted to remove the side pillarbox bars of old TV shows on Blu-ray like Star Trek/Twilight Zone, et al, you couldn't blow the image up to remove the black areas...however, my Oppo and Cambridge did let you via zoom).

    • @1Aquadon
      @1Aquadon Рік тому +1

      So yes this is a immensely important issue to me.. I even have the Oppo 103D for Blu and 203 for 4K and the 203 will not zoom Dolby Vision 4k discs. I had a LG CX and was able to use it to zoom 4k dolby vision discs ( I only check 3 or 4).. But my Sony Z9J will not. I am researching now but no reviewers mention this feature on normal reviews.. please mention this to "Brian Tech therapy" as will I. This feature alone is a deal breaker for me.. I didn't buy a 75" TV to get to use it as a 65" on the most premium content.

      @@jaysbakes37 yes it does. I used my PlayStation 3 and 4 for years for blueray. Also have a Sony Blu-ray player. Coming from those to the Panasonic ub420 was an improvement in every visual way. Audio seems to have a slightly lower noise floor and higher dynamic range but the picture sharpness, rendering smoothness, color, contrast black levels, etc are a noticeable improvement and I hate that I dismissed all bluray player playback as being the same. I saw in another review below this guys review the guy said if you go to open the CD tray it takes a few seconds for the tray to open and close and say for example you forgot to close the CD tray and you shut off the power like most CD players that close the tray won't close like when you have a CD player as the power shuts off the CD tray won't close and the guy thought the price of the player was a bit expensive for something that does not open or close right away or doesn't close when the power is shut off. He was doing something and said the player had some glitches and some interference when he was doing something with the player. To me, that is something that should be improved upon with the newer model if they even make a newer model. I found out about this player through a Home Theater sales guy telling him I wanted to buy a High-End Turntable and a CD Recorder to put my Jimi Hendrix Imports to CD because they don't make them anymore and he said there is a site you can go to where you can find that Record and load it to this player and no matter how expensive your Turntable and CD Recorder is the quality will still be better transferring it t this the Universal player. He said this site has music videos you can put to the player too. I forget the name of the site he said it was but I still want to buy this player but I still need to make sure I can get the import Record off this site. otherwise, I will be buying a Turntable and a CD Recorder. I like listening to records but I don't want to wear out the Records is why I want to put them to CD Recording.

      Well, it's got the brushed hairline aluminum front panel, but from the inside photos I've seen in the HT forums, it's pretty much an empty box without much "premium" circuitry within. The Panasonic UB9000 is built better than any of these players, save for, perhaps, the UDP-205 or LX500/800, with a serious heft to it and thick, multi-layered metal frames, but I gotta say...after owning one for over a year now (the UB9000), the disc drawer is far from "buttery smooth" as reviews you lead you to believe, as mine has developed a strange, loud "cogging vibration" noise when the drawer slams shut. To be honest, the disc drawer was never silent to begin with out of the box, instead sounding kind of "scratchy" and rough when in movement in/out, but this has gotten progressively worse for us. Disappointing for the $999 asking price, but I suppose this is considered "budget" today, based on what the X200 is going for.... (insert eye roll here, LOL)

      I too purchased the 100 - customer support was great - mine made a lot of noise when spinning 4K discs. There were some bad units according to Zappiti and they sent a new one and a return label. The new one is quieter but not as quite as my Oppo 203. Ironically after I got my Revon, Oppo support finally replied back to me about my player's freezing on discs over 2hours long. They fixed it for $109. I could have saved $800 but now I have two really great players but the Reavon has one feature no one is talking about so I'll keep it for that reason. Hopefully it won't be removed on a firmware upgrade.

A display or projector should dedicate all its processing power to display. A player should dedicate all its processing power to playing. And a streaming box should do the same. These devices should still support Wi-Fi connection for firmware updates and web UI, but fickle third party support apps need to go. A/V separates all the way. Thanks. Like you vids. Press on.

    My Pioneer BDP LX-88 was awesome but it was more than once on repair so it had to go...i loved the network features of the pio playing hi res Audio MKV movie files over LAN.
    I purchased an Panasonic DP-UB9004
    Its not what i wanted and expected network and mediaplayer wise it sucks so much!
    But the picture and sound qualitiy is awesome also the upscaling of normal blurays is awesome...it was a hard descision but i kept it. Using it together with the Shield TV pro.
    If Oppo would still be on the market i would propably have chosen an oppo but after
    the problems with my pioneer i wanted a device with manufacturer support. The Reavon was also interesting but way overpriced in my oppinion and look whats inside the player for me thats a no go forcthis hi price! and it also can not reach the Pana in sound and picture quality.
    Shield TV Pro as mediaplayer and Panasonic UB DP 9004 as hi end Bluray Player works good for me at the moment... the problem is there are not much alternatives anymore on the market and it looks to get even less in the future...

      The picture is even better than the pioneer bdp lx 88 wich also is an flagship (std.) Bluray player.
      So the UB DP 9004 has really good upscaling capabilities from 1080P to UHD thats what i meant.
      But the network port on this player is almost useless because the built in Streaming Apps suck and the usb/network mediaplayer is also garbage not because of the picrure quality but because of the compatibility ...most audi and video formats wont play on this device... even my panasonic TV built in Mediaplayer plays more formats than the one of the UB DP 9000.

At one point in The Secret Life of Pets, I heard Ma when I should’ve heard Max, for example, and when watching Onward, I heard “Step out of vehicle” when I should’ve heard “Step out of the vehicle”, either it’s just a faulty player or Sony have lowered their standards! Sony players have some negative issues since it’s going to freezes during playback of 4K Ultra UHD disc, and the build materials are not sort like high-end, and also some sellers are cheating by saying it’s a free region, and after buying it will not be a free region anymore especially if you’re going to update the firmware. It’s only good for the price if you want something in the living room for less use for fun. and it’s not an audiophile or videophile due to some weakness in the build quality. I don’t know how long it will last since some consumers complained about the drive and that it will no longer read the disc after long use. So if you want a player for fun with all functions with less use then go to Sony the last model. But if you’re an audiophile and videophile that go MAGNETAR or Reavon or Pannde or maybe Panasonic for the latest model if you’re a videophile only.

It is very handy with old DVDs that will never see the light of day in Blu-ray/4k like True Lies. Second is ISO and BMDV file playback. I saw with a Zappiti representative saying it would violate licensing rights to have a disc player that can also play those formats. I could have swore it was on your channel Shane that I saw that. Never owned a Panasonic, but from everything I have read the Reavon handles external files like MKV and M2TS with newer audio formats better. Picture is far superior to my LG UBK90.
