I will copy the DSD/DSF files over to my Zappiti and see if I can access them through the network on the Reavon. I’ll reply to this comment when I find out.
I can't seem to find much information about this line of players concerning MKV Playback or BD ISO playback? I know OPPO used to playback these without any issues...Can you please confirm? Thank you
Interesting topic. If file mgmt is not needed, how would you stack up the new players against the Panasonic 9000? Oppo's are gone so I'm down to these 3 choices. What is your opinion on the build quality of the X100,X200 or 9000? Any clear winners? Getting ready to make a purchase and appreciate your insight.
Okay, so the chipset in the Reavon is similar if not exactly the same as the Oppo/Pioneer according to what I’ve read in the forums. That being said, the picture processing should be on par with the Oppo. Since the Panasonic edges the Oppo out by a hair, I would say the Panasonic has the better picture. As for build quality, both Reavon players feel very solid and so is the Panasonic UB9000. If you don’t need file playback, then I would go with the Panasonic UB9000 - amzn.to/3B85T3Z

I'm guessing you mean the Reavon 100 model's lack of SACD support. It may not have been Reavon's decision to omit that format, for the 100. After OPPO left the market, Sony hasn't granted an SACD license to any other player manufacturer, except Pioneer (and now Reavon). Sony allowed SACD compatibility for Reavon's 200 model, but maybe that because Sony doesn't have a competing model (in that price range). Sony may have determined the 100 model would hurt sales of its own player (the UBP-X1100ES) if it had SACD support. Those two players are only $200 apart.
@@christopherbrown5023 No, I am talking about support for BDMV folder playback, which allows you to watch your ripped blu-ray discs as if the actual disc was in the tray: menus, special features, etc.

Hey bro... I'm very confused with the auromatic mixer in Auro 3D. If I'm gonna watch a movie that originally is in Atmos, but I wanna use the auromatic, do I have to set the audio in my blu-ray player as pcm? Or just leave it as bitstream and select auro3d on the receiver?
I have the Oppo UDP-203 4K Bluray and am interested in the Reavon UBR-X100. The Oppos are top notch 4K Bluray players you can and should expect the Reavon X100 X200 to be much better because they are newer. By better I mean that the Reavon has much better picture quality, much better sound quality, much quieter and more reliable drives that have even better error correction during playback. That ingsesamt the menu, network and everything is much better with the Reavon. I want to buy the Reavon UBR-X100 I expect that are better than the Oppos. With the Oppo UDP-203 I have found that Gapples does not always funksioniert with all music formats. Hopefully the Reavon 4K Bluray Player X100 X200 always works gapless with all music formats, so that always gives gapless playback.
Do you own one or have used one? You're saying the 2 Reason players are better better picture quality, sound, quieter, more reliable drives, better error correction. WHERE did you get your information? Or is this just wishful thinking? Just because it's newer doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
You’re probably fine with the Pioneer. I think the Reavon might edge it out a little in PQ but not enough to change players. Maybe for file playback though?
Can the new Reavon player(s) be used to rip SACDs to a digital storage drive so a collection can be backed up? Curious as I know some players can be used while others cannot. Thanks!

Hi! A couple things about the Emotiva amps. I’m not a huge fan of the Type H Topology and prefer A/B mainly for long periods of running. Also, I’m not sure what they are doing with their power ratings, but they look funky to me. The numbers you quoted have high THD. On the other hand, the Rotel is substantially more expensive, and has two more channels and is has a type A/B amplifier. Both models decode those audio formats. The x100 model does still require an AVR, or preamp plus separate amplifiers to power the speakers. For the x200, you don't necessarily need a receiver. It can be connected directly to power amps, and the player controls volume.
Update to my rant about my new Reavon X200. The loss of audio and video while playing 4K Blu-ray’s is a design problem in the Denon also in Marantz and Yamaha. The chip that controls the handshake from the AVR to the TV IS The problem. So bottom line the X200 is a great high end BDP.
Hah! I’m having an issue like this with Dolby Vision discs through my Denon. It also happens with my Oppo, which is how I realized something is wrong with the Denon. I have both the X200 and Oppo connected directly to the TV now.

@@TechnoDad I may not have phrased my question correctly. I have an "old" Oppo player that supports DSD output thru HDMI. Let's be honest, if you're paying that much for a machine, I think its attributes lie more as a disc playing proposition, rather than a mere file player...you're not putting this player in your living room, it's a proper player for a proper movie watching environment, furthermore, if this thing is to be scrutinised, then its picture quality needs to be tested on a projector, and NOT a TV!
I have a JVC NX7 projector with Frame Adapt HDR capability. These Reavon models can be set to "Source Direct" output which is perfect for my projector. This ensures my projector receives a pure 4K HDR video signal directly, from these players without any added processing (by the player).
I purchased the x100 because I already have external premium DACs. I do import titles, and I love how these Reavon models are region switchable (without any 3rd party mods or further tinkering required). I won't be surprised when the BDA eventually catches on, however, and then forces Reavon to remove that capability. I probably won't update the firmware in the future, until I'm absolutely certain that region switching isn't removed.
If a BD disc is multiple region, it will play on any BD player. I think you meant to ask "is the player multi-region compatible?" Yes, it is. For now, anyway. A future firmware update could possibly remove that. So I would hesitate to update these players, until it's been verified the multi-region capability isn't affected.
For a new company with only two products, a not a very good dac compared to Panasonic ub9000 and oppo, namely burr-brown, and literally no further info, the price of ubr-x200 is too God damn high. 1700€/$?!!!! The fact that the X200 can't play burned BDMV discs is disappointing and somewhat puzzling. Even the Panasonic players, as limited as they are, can play these discs. Technodad I'm a A/V dinosaur thinking getting a Zapiti just got my first fire stick but I have no clue about where to get the content to rip with Movies or Music from do you have any suggestions? that would be very helpful thanks.
Handbrake is one of the software you need. Do a UA-cam search on how to RIP bluray movies for your own personal backup purposes (which is legal)
I buy the 4K disc and then I rip it with DVD Fab to an M2TS file or Make MKV to create an MKV file. Here's a video - ua-cam.com/video/AqUpY78BlnQ/v-deo.html
The x200 output need to amplifier or direct output to speakers ( includes amplifer)
Why would you not just take hdmi to your receiver for audio? What’s the point of balanced outputs in stereo when the receiver your speakers would be connected to should have a better dac anyway given the blu ray player wouldn’t be the most expensive part
I didn't quite understand if the 200 was able to play dsd/dsf files over network? I assume that it will convert to pcm before sending it to the receiver if it can play them?
@@TechnoDad Thanks for the speedy response! Keep up the good work!
@@TechnoDad And if you don’t need SACD and DVD audio disc playback either. Right?
@@sethmyhreCH Yes, correct. The Panasonic will not play SACD and DVD-Audio discs. The Reavon X200 can.
Should I get the x100 or Panasonic ub9000 just for blu rays.ON A Sony A80J
Hello technodad. Why buy a reavon 200 when you have a zappiti ? I have a externe hdd which i connect to a mediaplayer xtreamer prodigy But this is not a 4 k player Isn,t it possible to connect the hdd to the zappiti including all the benefits which a reavon 200 has?
Love your videos bro you’ve helped me out a lot with my denon setup but I can’t get Dolby atmos working on my Disney plus I followed your instructions for the Xbox series x and everything is working fine but I can’t get Disney plus working from my vizio app any advice thanks man in advance
How do you rip 4k movies? Can I back up the disks I have somehow or do you use a website?
I was watching TV shows off a usb hard drive on my xbox, went to watch a movie and it was all stretched as well. Watched off my computer and no problem, tried again on xbox and got stretched again. Must just be some files very rarely.
Yeah, it also could be some setting. I changed from 16:9 Auto to 16:9 Full and it worked without issue.
Will this play USB input 4K 77 Star Wars original project? Can one modify for region free? Love movies from UK, region B. Use OPPP 203 . Also Panasonic 820 with JVC 2000 projector. Thanks
Love your videos, please keep them coming! did you get Dolby Vision to work via file playback (either via mp4 or mkv)? if it does that i am totally sold! :) thanks again!!!
I have yet to rip an MKV that has DV. I'll have to try MakeMKV again...
@@TechnoDad ended up purchasing the X100 yesterday! Waiting on my 4k bd drive from Alex :)
Thanks mate, looks as good as we can hope for now that Oppo are done. Seeing you have a good relationship with Zappiti, any information on updates (and or new) for our Zappiti players?
Cheers from Down Under.
I know nothing about the new Zappiti players ;)
Great video really useful information, I would love to see a review for the X100 and I wonder do you think they will fix the problem with the aspect ratio for this video files that are compressed with HDR and Dolby atmos??
I’ll play around with some settings today and see if I can get that to change.
@@TechnoDad any news for the aspect ratio problem??
Wished they had PLEX support.
Yeah, Unfortunately, it doesn't. However, you can connect an external drive filled with MKVs and play them on the Reavon.
Dont get rid of your Oppo-203, you should update its firmware with the Free Russian JB.
I’ll be keeping my UBP-X1100ES

Hii TechnoDad i am interested to buy Reavon UBR-X200 but i have doubt is It is Region Free Blu ray Player or it is Region Locked ? and More thing it is support external hard drive for movies and music playback via USB 2.0 and 3.0 ?
The reavon ubr-x200.... I feel its elite. I'm curious to what its 8 channel DAC sounds like. You should try to use its xlr ports to connect to a receiver and you would be able to find out its quality of sound. Do you think they will take over oppo?
The build quality and internal Electronics are leagues apart from the Oppo units.
Hi. Does the 100 or 200 do auto tone mapping ? Great vid
No. Neither one.
@@christopherbrown5023 awe man…thanks for the heads maybe one day I’ll be a feature
Why is it so hard to match the OPPO's feature set? Is full disc playback to much to ask of a product that costs as much as a PC?
@@christopherbrown5023
No, I am talking about support for BDMV folder playback, which allows you to watch your ripped blu-ray discs as if the actual disc was in the tray: menus, special features, etc.
@@tyroneslothdrop9155 Okay. You said "full disc playback" in your original comment, and that's why I assumed you meant SACDs.
What you're now saying is "File" playback. That's different.
Hi Tyrone, no BDMV folder playback support on the Reavon.
Hell yeah Techno Dad !!thanks for the video !
Hi!!! Thanks for watching!!
Is there a way to make a “Demo” file of multiple scenes from separate movies within Zappiti?
Hi! I don't think so. That would be pretty cool, though...
Hi Pedro! Yes, you are correct. You need to change the audio output to PCM.
@@TechnoDad thanks for your reply. What about streaming, for example, Netflix?
Got a Pioneer LX500. Do you think the Reavon is an upgrade, or should I stick with the Pioneer?
You’re probably fine with the Pioneer. I think the Reavon might edge it out a little in PQ but not enough to change players. Maybe for file playback though?
Can the new Reavon player(s) be used to rip SACDs to a digital storage drive so a collection can be backed up? Curious as I know some players can be used while others cannot. Thanks!
Hi! No, you can’t use the Reavon to rip. It will play back ripped files like MKV and M2TS. I’m not sure what SACD files rip to, so I can’t say.
This player looks great in design
I'm very happy to see another premium 4K Blu-ray player finally hit the market. Multiple options are always a good thing.

No SACD Support on the X100? That‘s strange, because it was advertised with SACD Support. And without full Support of ISO etc. it is realy useless as a Oppo replacement. :( Missed the Oppo, cause 800€ for wrong Croma Upsampling was a no go to me. Hoped that the Reavon would fill this market hole. :(
The Oppo left some bug shoes to be filled, that’s for sure.
My Oppo 203 suddenly went dead & bought Reavon x100 Every thing plays fine except movies on Samsung SSD dont work at all. It reads but with lot of jerks. Any ideas. Thanks.
Hi! Which movies and file types are you trying to play? MKVs and M2TS files worked just fine. The Reavon will not play BDMV folders like the Oppo did.
What about DVD-A!?

Hi need some advice, I have the Denon AVR-X3700H, Am looking to get a External amplifier, My top 2 choices are the Rotel 1585, Or The Emotiva XPA-DR3 Reference Three-Channel Power Amplifier, I know the Rotel 1585 has 5ch at 200 watts per ch at 8omh, And the Emotiva is a 3ch at 450watts per ch at 8omh, Any recommendations?
I do sell Rotel through Dreamedia, so if you want pricing on that model, shoot me an email - TechnoDad55 at gmail dot com

Well, I’ve found out it uses the same chipset as the Oppo, so I would imagine it’ll perform just the same PQ wise.
I'm interested in know if the dac in those are the same? I'm currently debating if I want to get the oppo 203 mod kit. Just not sure if it will make that much of a difference.
Hi
Please can you tell me if x100 and x 200 decode Dolby digital plus and dts or I need a receiver
@@TechnoDad There may be a work around. I have the LG C9 and If I go to setup and to HDMI settings and turn Ultra off and on again the handshake between my 4700 and LG works as it should. This from a UA-cam HDTVtest video.
Does the 200 support DSD from disk? And did DVD music disks play? Thank you !
Hi Chris! DSD from disc? I played an SACD which played just fine and that's "technically" DSD format. Is that what you mean?
@@TechnoDad I may not have phrased my question correctly. I have an "old" Oppo player that supports DSD output thru HDMI. Until I purchased an AudioControl processor, I had nothing that could accept a DSD signal. My Brothers In Arms SACD outputted multichannel but did so via multiple PCM signals for each channel. I finally, via the Internet, got the HDMI settings on my Oppo player, and the correct HDMI out, to send DSD to the AudioControl. I could verify the signal at the AudioControl end. It may be that every SACD has a DSD layer? but I never had a processor that could handle the DSD signal until I acquired the AudioControl. Don't know if this makes any sense .... but thank you.
Great work my friend, thank you!!
Thanks Joe!
Hi! Great video as always, would you say that this could replace the zappiti player when it comes to fileformat support? Thanks! :)

Why would you replace the Oppo 203 with an inferior clone?!!
Probably because nothing lasts forever, albeit the Oppo will work for years
Also if anyone else has suggestions I would be extremely grateful thanks.
@@christopherbrown5023 Nice!👍
I might have to save up some money and buy the x100.
I purchased the x100 because I already have external premium DACs. I do import titles, and I love how these Reavon models are region switchable (without any 3rd party mods or further tinkering required).
I won't be surprised when the BDA eventually catches on, however, and then forces Reavon to remove that capability. I probably won't update the firmware in the future, until I'm absolutely certain that region switching isn't removed.
hi i want see demo
i play discs only, no streaming or files
Is this player compatible with multiple region blu ray discs?
If a BD disc is multiple region, it will play on any BD player. I think you meant to ask "is the player multi-region compatible?" Yes, it is. For now, anyway. A future firmware update could possibly remove that. So I would hesitate to update these players, until it's been verified the multi-region capability isn't affected.
@@christopherbrown5023 well one could always restore the player to factory settings, IF it’s possible 😀

Pretty much!
I wouldn't replace the Oppo.
For a new company with only two products, a not a very good dac compared to Panasonic ub9000 and oppo, namely burr-brown, and literally no further info, the price of ubr-x200 is too God damn high. 1700€/$?!!!! The oppo 205 was around 1300/1400 as it was released. This is just bs. They should prove themselves first then ask for such prices. They should have priced it at 1300 max.
Is there an Android app for the players?
I don't think so...
@@TechnoDad That´s a pity! So you need a TV, even, if you only want to listen to let´s say a CD or SACD or a file from the network. oppo still the king
Maybe...maybe not...
The fact that the X200 can't play burned BDMV discs is disappointing and somewhat puzzling. Even the Panasonic players, as limited as they are, can play these discs. Did you fool around with MP4s or MP4s encoded in Dolby Vision? The Oppos, for the most can actually play most of these. It's still the all-around king of UHD payers.
I never tested that out. I played the BDMV folders from my attached HDD via USB. When I burn to disc, I rip and burn a disc ISO, which works every time when you stick in the disc to the player.
@@TechnoDad I tend to burn BDMVs and ISOs to discs so that both my Oppo and Panny 9000 can autoplay them. Works well on both and cover and disc labels are readily available. OTOH, I'm running out of space to store all of these physical discs so at least for the Oppo, I could run the files from a 4TB hard drive. Oh such problems..LOL!
