I set mine on top of a door once (I think I was trying to get a light source probably due to a storm knocking out the power) and it fell off the door and it was pretty much fine. It's also fallen out of my back pocket onto concrete, I've dropped it on the floor at Walmart a couple of times, and overall it's done well. Just some scratches and no cracking or shattering. LCD still works fine too. The paint on the aluminum is chipped but it's not too big of a deal anyways since I usually have never really cared about stuff like that too much.
This is a bit late, but I had my LG G5 since 2016 until january of 2020, its fallen onto concrete many times, without damage, ive dropped it so much and the only visible damage would be just like you said, minor "paint on the aluminum is chipped". It had no scratches on the screen at all. Then this year when i updated to a samsung a21s, i decided to break it, however id thrown it against the wall, and in my garden and it just would NOT break!! I tried manually opening it and even that was a struggle, its like a nokia 3000!
@@anaccount7427 The durability of this phone is a plus, but the software absolutely gave up January of this year, had the phone since 2017, so who knows? Maybe it was one of the earlier defective models. Pissed me off though, because the Google backup was completely fucking useless, and I made the mistake of putting my SD card, which had tons of app data on it, in my G8. So now all my shit might be gone. I don't even know exactly why it died, from what I know it could be any number of things that either I did wrong or a defective part may have done. No idea.
@@Sonicfan1661 For me it was because I updated the phone in 2019, essentially ending its life. After than the battery ended up dying after 1 hour maybe less, rendering a second battery pointless.
my dad left his lgg5 on his semi tire and Rand it over with his semi it had a phone case wasn't a lot think 12.00 on Amazon and it still works no cracks or damage lg rules
when the iPhone 7 comes out, TechRax is pretty much going to to do a drop test, water-proof test and do all sorts of things protecting it from a 100 ft drop and upload all of his videos on the same day
LG phones have always been the most delicate phones I've ever used. But they are still the best. I weant to a iPhone over G5. For some reason I'm regretting it. Even though I still love the functionality of my iPhone SE.
I was just walking, my phone around 3 feet up and was texting. Tripped over and dropped the phone from an angle and the phone glass was obliterated. The G5's touchscreen is still faultless and so is the ips LCD panel. Its because the glass is very thin on the phone.
you never gonna drop the phone from this height and its logical for the screen to shutter because the material structure is compromised from the first crack so your drop test isn't legit
georgeF22 unfortunately i learnt that height isn't important, my old galaxy s3 died after a 50cm drop, my mother bought a new phone and gave me hers(another s3), i dropped it from 1m while running on cement and didn't even scratch. now i have the G5 and i'm very worried because i drop phones very easily
Why does people say (eating the phone). It's just sad. They could get the money to buy the phone or buy something else with the money to buy the phone(s)
My nearly 4 year old chinese smartphone, XTouch X1 has fallen way more times with the forward facing and it still has not even a single scratch on it and works fine. My DD.
Ive had my G5 since it came out and i have nothing but unending respect for this phones build quality. First week it was submerged under water when i woke up while camping on an air matress in a tent to find the floor and my new phone was flooded. A day of rice and it was working fine, fast forward a few years and i drop my phone in the Pacific ocean, i was looking for beach glass at the shore and my phone slid out of my jaclet pocket, i caught it my the headphone chord but it disconected amd snapped the phone in the air further out towards the water, amd about 2 feet of it!!! I had to think twice about jumping in as it was the middle of winter, but i got it back and it woked fine after another day of rice. And now after dropping it into a basket of sharp crystals and cracking the screne in a few places the screne popped out a bit when it bounced off my bed, so in my formal fashion of remembering all my previous broken devices i threw it against the ground as hard as i could, not in anger or anything, its just a tradition i knida do with my broken tech after rage smashing 2 ipod 4s and realizing how stupid i was. So my LG G5 smashed into about 15 peices, the screne and all the electronics connected to the backside were disconected from the main body and its electronics, and battery and sd card slot were also out. I picked up all the parts and put the screne back on and slid the battery back in and it fucking started up when i hit the power button. The only damage sustained was a few new cracks in the screne on the sides in concentrated areas the volume buttons not working due to that side of the frame being bent outwards, the front facing camera came out aswell as the headphone jack amd the sd card slot doest work but i allready had this phones contract end a year ago and its just been a gaming device since bc it has like 8gb of RAM!!!!
So if you ever need to dissasemble your G5 the easiest eay is to just throw it at the ground really hard, its just like a Nokia except you have to put the peices back together.

LG had masters in the G2 and G3. G4 was the beginning of the issue. And G5 (although not a bad phone) continues the issue.
the g2 was not durable at all tho
why does everyone have playback error lol what kind of Internet or phones do u have
ikr
Techrax said that it goes away after 5 mins. Looks like the early birds don't get shit today :D
most likely iPhones which have the 750p screens. not bashing on iPhone or anything.

Joshua Wyatt wait..you had a g5 and bought an iphone se?
Dracopol Alex no meant to say I bought a iPhone se over a g5
Joshua Wyatt oh ok but still wtf, g5 is compared to iphone 7, you didnt even buy an 6s.. you literally bought a simple phone instead a flagship one
Dracopol Alex do you know the iPhone SE is? It's a 6S but smaller it's everything a 6S is just with a smaller screen
I literally fell with my G5 in my pocket and it's perfectly fine. And I slammed that thing pretty hard on the ground.
hmmm......interesting....thanks for the info...*sips tea on his video..*

You should try testing an empty module-less g5. See how a hollow phone would fare.
clicks button.
takes out battery.
realizes that the phone shut off.
