- Tony, Kieran, and Kevin from Pegwarmers review G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra. In this Podcast/Movie Review of the first live action G.I. Joe movie they will talk about the things that make it cartoony! From the goofy super suits, the giant underground bases, and the over the top ninja fights!
Armed with the latest in military and spy technology, the team of elite soldiers known as G.I. Joe travel around the globe to wherever their services are needed. In their latest assignment Gen. Hawk (Dennis Quaid), Duke (Channing Tatum) and the rest of the G.I. Joe team take on Destro (Christopher Eccleston), a corrupt arms dealer, and fight the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization.

I already am 🥰
A friend sold me a Snake Eyes helmet. First thing I asked was,”It doesn’t have lips, does it?”
A Review of " In the Mouth of Madness" would be awesome with Newt and Crystal.
Please do that, but with Justin and Kieran
@@andreimadasov4955 Joe and Sean
Who ever designed the Snake eyes costume had to be a fan of the original Power Ranger suits. Those had lips as well. lol
Kieran and Kevin's familiarity about the G.I. Joe franchise really shows. I hope they come back if they'll do Retaliation
Tony admitting to be a Power Rangers collector back in the 90’s when he must’ve been in his late 20’s/early 30’s at the time is really brave of him.
He’s that old? I figured he was mid 30s now
IM 31!
@@HackTheMovies *41
@@HackTheMovies I thought Newt said you were 51?
He's in his early 50's Hollywood has come a long way with make up and cgi to make you look young 🤣
Tony looks like the one biker guy on the radio asking to get in the mall from Dawn of the Dead original
We need a Supercut of every time Kieran says “I Will Say That _____..”. It’s his Catch Phrase!
The Eiffel Tower's destruction gave me some flashbacks to Twisted Metal 2.
I need Dennis Quaid and Benedict Cumberbatch in a movie together.
This movie had no right being almost 2 hours long. Being like 8 tho, I was the movie’s target demographic, so at the time I loved it. Also Snake Eyes looks terrifying, his costumes so bad
Tony looks like toad from Mario bros
I believe Flagg was the original General which the Aircraft carrier was named. Hawk was introduced in season 2 I believe.
Flagg was in just the comics.
Glad you had Kevin on for this one. I hope you guys do "Retaliation" too. I personally like it more, though I've come to enjoy this one more than I did the first time.
Love Cobra Commanders look in Retaliation
Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy would be great for you guys to talk about!
While many viewers in the U.S. found it strange that G.I. Joe was international in this movie, G.I. Joe has always been that way to the rest of the world. For example, all of my toys from 82-84 have Canadian flags and some of the figures have Canadian places of birth on the file cards.
I was in the toy department of a K-Mart in the late 90s when I learned how to be economically responsible. A week's worth of allowance was burning a hole in my pocket and some newly acquired Aliens and Predators were waiting in my toy box. I could get a 3 3/4" GI Joe figure to take on the Xenomorph infestation in my room, or for the same price, get a seven pack (eight including a motorcycle) of The Corp figures to handle the job. Easy decision.
Its sad this was the last movie I saw in theaters, I'm hoping I can get my anxiety under control to see the new Spider-Man movie
This was the last movie you saw in theaters? That was over 10 years ago?!
Don’t feel too bad. Last move I saw in theaters was The Expendables. I hate modern cinema.
I hear alot how people hate movie theatres . I love it. $20 covers me with a few bucks back. Its a time to chill. No complaints.
Dark Knight Risers reference:

“A real American hero!”
no sir, you are the real hero here!
Can we have just Newt for the next movie that has Joseph-Gordon Levitt. Or, can we have Tony and the two girls so they can keep Tony from mentioning his cameo in Dark Knight? BTW, I like this movie
Pork chop sandwiches!
Who wants a body massage?
When I first saw this movie, I did not like it. Especially the Iron Man knockoff suits. But, it has grown on me. I do like the supporting cast, especially Arnold Vosloo, Christopher Eccleston, and the Baroness. And I like seeing Ray Park swing those swords around.
Germany's favorite Irishman has returned! Dos Kieran.
But i only see one Kieran, not two?!?!
@@Smokey1419 my bad, I meant Das, the German word for "the".
Love this review. I might be one of the 100 people that actually like this movie even though the storyline doesn’t follow the cartoon & comics faithfully. Please do Retaliation & Snake Eyes Origin. Subbed to Pegwarmers too!
Great review guys; as a comment, the name of the movie armor is "Delta Six", which I think is a reference of "Gi-Joe Sigma Six" because in that cartoon they use a type of exo-suit with attachments similar to those armors.
That's an interesting thought. I've always believed that those power armor suits were introduced purely because of the video game being developed at the time. The GI Joe video game as I recall made heavy use of power armor, and the fact that they only exist in one entire scene in a 2-hour movie makes me think that someone somewhere said you need to stick these things in the movie to encourage people to buy the video game.
As quickly as they are introduced and then ignored, that also smells of what kind of happens when people are forced to put crap in their movies they don't want. They make the barest of efforts and then they punt it to the Sun as soon as the studio exec turns around
Looks like it's up to Tony, Kieran, and Kevin to defeat the evil forces of Crystal Baroness, Newt Commander, and Destro Justin. Hope they don't burn the Porkchop Sandwiches.
Tony look more like some one from duck dynasty 😆
I just watched it and i have a question - why the movie doesn't use real military hummer or at least commercial H1 and instead they went with hummers H3?
Ive always wanted those delta-6 accelerator suits
I remember seeing this movie 1 or 2 years after it came out but can't remember anything that happened.
Imagine thinking a movie failed in the 2010's because "The toys were bad".
“It was a cup.”
Crazy this is like 12 years old. I thought this came out in like 2013 lol.
I wonder what shape the GI Joe toys I buried in the yard in the 80s, are in today. Maybe I should go dig em up & see...remember going to Toy R Us & the GI Joe toy pegs were almost empty & I had all the ones up, then an employee said they just got a new shipment in, saw him open the box & 1st one he pulled out was SnakeEyes, which was really hard to find at the time.. omg 1 of the happiest moments of my life lmao!!!...had all the toys back in the day..lol...went He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe, Ninja Turtles, wrestling figures & then I grew up.
I linked this video onto the GI JOE UNCENSORED FB GROUP im a member of. I hope u dont mind. Love u tony! Do the expendables movies!
The problem with this movie was hack producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. When he bought the rights in 2003 he had no idea that Hasbro and Marvel rebooted the line in 1982, he thought GI Joe only consisted of the 12” army dolls from the 1960s. The script for the movie leaked online and all of the fans eviscerated it. Hasbro had to sit him down and explain what was happening.
Yay! Kieran!
i have a cobra tatoo in my arm too
Hey Tony and Newt, I know that animated movies have done poorly in the past, but if you ever do another one again, can I suggest Treasure Planet? It had a great mix of hand drawn animation and CGI, it's in my top 3 disney movies (Hercules and Atlantis are the other two). Or if you guys ever do a movie vs. movie thing one day, maybe Treasure Planet vs. Titan A.E. ? I think it would rock!!!
Titan A.E. is a little guilty pleasure of mine, and the space environment for some reason gives me Dead Space vibes.
Thanks.
i have never seen treasure planet but i remember when it was in theaters
@@newtonwallen3210 I love Treasure Planet. Firstly, I am a sucker for taking old classic stories and rewriting them into different genres.
That said, the Creator's really did their homework when they created the the setting and the in Universe logic. For example, the way ships fly space and the fact that space is filled with gas that is flammable, that is what people thought space was like around the time Treasure Island was written.
I've also long held the belief that Treasure Planet was at least inspired, or perhaps some of the people who created it used to play, Dungeons & Dragons setting spelljammer. The setting has a lot of similarities to Treasure Planet even though it came out over a decade earlier, and as a fan of the setting I really enjoyed the movie on that level too.
From a cinematography perspective, the film is a wonderful blend of CGI and hand-drawn animation. It's just beautiful to look at even if you don't care for the story much
My son got me into treasure planet, i ended up liking it a lot.
Titan ae is so underrated. I love it
Great video guys!
I'll say it,I really like the Design of Snake Eye's Suit in the This film with the Muscles being Defined and how it covers the Lips on the mask, which isnt something that you usually see on alot of Ninja stealth outfits.
I actually quite like Rise of Cobra and Retaliation, for all their campiness and JoeFastJoeFurious-level action, but the new Snake Eyes was so jaw-droppingly disrespectful to this franchise and riddled with nauseating shaky-cam that the original two flicks look like modern cinema classics...
Awesome video guys
Love the show! Please review MacGruber and have Kieran on that one too. It was the greatest movie ever made.
43:52 43:58 tony the motorbike
Tony looks like Seargent Slaughter
Yes!! Finally my favourite 80s pornstar Ron Jeremy talking about G.I Joe!!
So Dennis Quaid did this movie for Jack Quaid who is now on The Boys. I was a Arashikage ninja in this movie
My theory about Covergirl and the Wolverine, is that it's all a giant in joke at Marvel Comics. Hasbro had paid Marvel to do all the writing for Transformers and GI Joe, and Marvel agreed as long as they were allowed to do whatever they wanted in the comic books.
So my idea is that when they release the tank called The Wolverine as a joke they put one of the cheesiest female characters in it Covergirl, and made the joke that basically the Wolverine is a piece of junk as a kind of in joke that the comic book Wolverine is a killing machine.
Side note, but that is why the Transformers has a very different storyline in the comic books. In the movies and the cartoons they are created by the quintessons originally is material to be sold, and when they become sentient they chase them off. In the comic book timeline, they are created by Primus who is a avatar of the universe that came into being to defeat Unicron who was an avatar of chaos and destruction. Primus tricks Unicron into teleporting into a planet, trapping him in a corporeal form. Primus then reshape his body into a factory and creates the Transformers so that he will have an army with which he can destroy Unicron. Unfortunately he slips into a sleep State and the Transformers fracture into a civil war.
I didn’t watch Risenof the Cobra. Still haven’t but I really enjoyed Retaliation
I just watched P2 last night for my 100 Days of Horror challenge
I didn't like the lips but it was on the figure 1985 v2 snake eyes so.... accurate
I think pursuit of cobra was supposed to be the bridge between movies.
If it’s of interest to anybody I actually think the cobra Commander mask for the film was based on the third iteration of cobra Commander from the 90s series of dic Episodes
Where was Sgt slaughter in the movie
Mutt? More like a cross between Gung-Ho and Bazooka
Quote from 41:27 "The movies are for kids, but the toys are for us." Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Which is silly cuz Trasnformers get the same criticism especially since the designs don't reflect the cartoons from the past, that amney them look Toy like...and I enjoyed the movies. LOVED THEM. It got me liking transformers. This movie did the same with G.I. Joe. Sometimes fan complaints are UTTER crap on what they chose to harp on and what they chose to let go of.🙄
Really dug the pegwarmers Pod. Curious to check out the new Talk about Games channel when it launches 2morrow as well 👍
Please review American Ninja 🥷…I watched it so much in the 80’s
Been watching the episode the last four days over and over lol. It's good.
I kinda like go Joe retaliation more than this one. its more down to earth lol
Almost look like stavy with that mustache
You guys need to do Hackers!
#alien3
Hope to see you guys review G.I. joe the cartoon movie
1:05:30 are we talking about Suicide Squad movies now?
When will they learn we don’t need a whole movie or tv series about snake -eyes ,boba fett ,the joker ,Han solo explaining there whole back story and how they became what they became, the mystery is part of there appeal and the tid bits you get about there past is enough
Did Tony use the embryo Barbasol to shave?
I didn’t know Task Master was a woman till now either. I don’t think that was as obvious as you thought it was lol
You havnt seen it yet? How long were you going to wait?
I got a producer friend who gives me screeners want to know what happens in Shang chi?
The 2nd Version of the original Snake Eyes Figure had lips. Might be a homage.. Not saying it was right to do though 😂
Was Baroness always a brainwashed good guy? Cause I just wanted her to be evil ,not brainwashed with nano machines.
HELP my soul is trapped in text on a youtube videos comment section!
ONCE A MAN!
Yes yes, once a man, in a real movie, he would want to stay a snake after this trash!!!!!!
The lips looked fine on the toy (the very first Action Force figure I owned), in the comics and on the TV show. They just looked creepy on Snake Eyes in the movie. Didn't like the movie, it was dumb.
This review of it was great though! Kieeeeran is cool, Tony is a very famous UA-camr and Kevin from Pegwarmers did a great job joining the Talking About Tapes format - hooray for Kevin!
I remember the first time seeing alfalfa on the show i thought damn newt looks way better with long hair and a beard lol
But I love he went to multiple stores thinking these gi joes were in hot damand they absolutely were not
"Figures that are not popular, they sell! "
Makes no sense at all.
You know what, I agree with you and I've had this argument of sorts with a friend of mine that works at a comic store.
Because the weird situation is that is that now or in recent years they do so very well, because back in earlier days they didn't and So eventually collectors started paying really big money for the crappy figures. Sometimes because they wanted a complete set, sometimes because they wanted to own that are quotes here, notorious figure that nobody liked.
So now you have people running out and buying everything no matter how stupid because they don't want to miss out the way they did 20 or 30 years ago.
Human nature being what it is, the bulk of people fail to realize that if 50000 people purchase a figure it's not going to be worth as much money as the figure that somebody only bought 10 copies of. In the meantime, and for the short-term, comic shops and the light will happily markup and put that figure up on the wall for $5,200, and there will be people who buy it. Because if the going rate is that much money people must know something I don't and that is an investment.
Not related directly to toys, but I have a friend who nearly spent five grand to purchase a Dungeons & Dragons book. He didn't need it, but it was a low print book from the 80s and it was signed by one of the artists. It's also something easily available on print-on-demand. Something about it being hard to come across makes it irresistible to him
Tony as “G.I Giuseppe”
Wow yes! My cousin really hates this movie. I loved it....
Review The Cell.
As one of gijoe biggest fans of the cartoons and action figures I still have my uss Flagg and the terror drome I hated this movie but I did enjoy some of the action figures that came along with it
You guys have to do all of the Spider-Man movies and all of the Jurassic Park movies and a bunch of different alien type of movies in that genre
Might be off subject, but we need a review of "the Man with two brains". Out of the Carl Reiner/Steve Martin collaborations, that was the best 1. Also Kathleen Turner was fine AF in it.
Friggin' LOVE The Man with Two Brains!
@@gianni_hello same here dude. I actually like it a little more than "the Jerk"
@@gianni_hello "you cooked her 9's!!!!" 😆
Not gonna lie. I loved both the original movies. I think they hit the nail on the head. It's slocky garbage fun action.
Sweet stache.
NANO MACHINES SON
It was awesome 😎
So, is Tony 41 or 45? I'm confused by that mustache, hope Newt clarifies this one for me.
Tony is 31 but looks 48. I turn 40 in Oct and look....not as old as Tony
@@newtonwallen3210 Agreed.
Wow when did tony and keiran get sgt slaughter (tony) on the show? Who wants them to do a review of Down Periscope?
I literally Loved Channig Tatum Duke. Couldn't wait for the sequel and then....they killed him . I remember the thertre being in shock" did they just kill him?"
I was so mad. I wanted to walk out....😒
I hate to disagree, but I don't think the Night-Raven was completely based on the SR-71 Blackbird (a real world jet aka the the original X-jet). Take a look at it. It's a Russian Design...from a Clint Eastwood movie. The Mig-31 "Fire-fox", which came out around the same time as the Gi Joe comic/Toy Series. Guess to catch it, you "Must think in Russian...".
I'm really surprised at the positive review, I thought this movie is awful. It's 50% flashbacks, terrible acting and lazy design work. I prefer Retaliation it seemed more GI Joe like. But neither are great.
Given how big of a wrestling fan I was, my personal gripe with this movie was that they used Sgt. Stone instead of Sgt. Slaughter during the training.
Also, JGL had said on playing Commander that he was considering using a voice closer to the original to tribute Chris Latta, but when he tried he couldn't get it close enough so he went this route instead to not sully it.
please review american psycho
AHH ok pegwarmers is about toys as in toy pegs! I thought it was a about pegging, wow there's a podcast about that and Tony wants them on the channel.
