  • Harwich, Norfolk, and Denmark.
M/S of a ferry, 'England', which is bound for Denmark. M/S cars boarding ferry. Inside the bar is being prepared. The ferry is seen leaving the port. A chef helps make final preparations to the food platters made ready for passengers. Guests are served at a table, and others are served cocktail style drinks. On deck, people are wrapped up warm. The ferry arrives at Copenhagen. There is a tightly edited sequence of the Tivoli Gardens, various towers and spires and a statue of Hand Christian Anderson, and storks nesting on rooftops. A woman walks through the deserted cobbled streets of Denmark's oldest town, Ribe. We move on to the fishing port of Esbjerg, where we see fish being landed from fishing vessels and sorted at the quayside. The packed crates are laid out in a warehouse for sale, and men walk over the crates and their fishy contents, hammering out prices with the auctioneer (01:46:55).
Next we see crowds and the track at a trotting race with horses and two wheeled carriage. A flag is waved for the off. This is contrasted with two oxen pulling a cart at Aarhus, North Jutland, where it looks as if time has stood still. A gaggle of geese run by. There are shots of the timber framed houses and women in traditional dress. Visitors look at craft shops which have been recreated. M/S signs for book binders and rope makers shops. A paddle steamer makes its way in the waters of Jutland's lake district. C/U of the engine mechanism working. There are homes seen on the waterside. M/S of a man at work thatching, bunching the bales and handing them up to another on the roof working on the next piece of thatch. Outside a house, some people are served with food, a girl pours a beer (01:49:52).
The island of Fano is now renowned for its beach, - it was used by Malcolm Campbell in 1924 for a land speed record attempt. At the beach, we see a car driven onto the beach, and people running down to the sea in swimming costumes. Some people play beach croquet. Finally we see a train being driven onto a ferry, and we see the ferry move away from dock as the doors at the stern slowly closes. The ferry is on its way back to the main island of Zealand.
Cuts exist - see other record.

I was amazed by the boat that carries a train in it, I have never heard of anything like that. And it was in the sixties!

They still exist but are rarer these days, we have replaced most of the train ferries with bridges.
