How can the cover of this song by other artists deserve over a 1million view but Masa doesn't? I live in Tokyo and have the previlege to go to Masa's concert twice a year. I've never seen more than 30 audience. Most underknown artist especially in Japan. He deserves better.
May I where he is now? I admire his style but his release to the public is rather limited. Compared to other finger-style guitarists who upload new pieces every week, it is not only about the quality of music but quantity matters nowadays as well. I also learned his Say No More years ago and only until today when I decided to re-learn this piece that I found out it had been a very long while since I last listened to his music.
this is so beautiful honestly. amazing hands down. you could feel the emotion of the song through all the notes he plays and it brings tears to my eyes for some reason.... but its soooo good!
Some say engage your audience, some say market your craft. I don't care about fame or recognition, at the end of the day as long as I don't have to worry about food and basic necessities, I'm happy with my art that i create and enjoy, all by myself.
Actual tuning is Half step down (all strings go down one "fret", so E becomes E flat) and the capo is on the 2nd fret. However, instead of distorting your guitar's tuning, you can simply put the capo on the first fret, although I like playing it with regular tuning.
The video of Sungha Jung really helped me with this. I really offer you to go and watch it a couple of times or maybe more and then start playing like he does in his video. Its a great way to learn. Good luck man!
listen to around 1:11 to 1:13 when he plays Fadd9 .. thats one where it sounds off.. unless hes slightly bending the strings with his fingers which is usually known to happen.
downtuning it a half step makes the strings softer and it's easier to get the right kind of sound from them (hammer ons & pull offs)... i think that's why
Because he plays in D standard normally. I suppose he just feels more comfortable with a capo on the second fret. I play this in E standard with no capo because I feel more comfortable that way.
i'ved already learned it by ear. at sec 25 its not hard... the bridge is the hardest part in the cover.. so i dont know what to do for u because i dont have any notes, too xD
no it isnt.. he probably played a couple of songs before this performance which means he would have to tune the guitar by ear during each break. Im pretty sure he doesnt bring a standard tuning device with him and have time to tune each string to the device.. therefore he does it by ear so its not "fine" tuning but then again hes still a great guitar player.. just because I say his guitar is out of tune everyone thinks that Im saying hes a bad guitar player..
guys i have a question. If he downtunes all strings by half a step, and then puts a capo on the 2nd fret, wouldnt it sound the same as capo on first fret with standard tuning? why is there a need for the downtuning?

Well, if you see him again, give him some extra money if you like him so much! I'm sure he'd appreciate you paying his phone bill for the month.
safe to say Sumide-san is the most underrated guitarist i've ever known
this is so beautiful honestly. amazing hands down. you could feel the emotion of the song through all the notes he plays and it brings tears to my eyes for some reason.... but its soooo good!
This has so much color, you can tell how much he puts into each note. The way he rearranged this song to his own....leaves me speechless and amazed.
이버전은 진짜 들어도 들어도 감동적이야
So clean despite so many bar chords to play..
i don't understand why this vid doesn't have more views. This guy is amazing.
he celebrates every single note of this piece, I am totally in awe.. magnificent cover!

@gaiolinn Actually Eric loved this version of it, as beautiful as the original is, I prefer this one.
Go to Sungha's video and try to learn it by watching him playing..
Thats what I did.. :D
listen to around 1:11 to 1:13 when he plays Fadd9 .. thats one where it sounds off.. unless hes slightly bending the strings with his fingers which is usually known to happen.
Epic ending chord I must say!!
Lol, 8 year old that plays guitar better than many practice their entire lives? I think he deserves his fame :)
People have flamed you with thumbs down :(
I agree with you though. so many of these songs have altered tunings.
fair play
no problem :) great xD
downtuning it a half step makes the strings softer and it's easier to get the right kind of sound from them (hammer ons & pull offs)... i think that's why

For this song the guitar is tuned down half a step and it is very much in tune.

This song sounds like even better than eric clapton's original song...

lmao. Not even close.
We can't compare the two actually, each is awesome in its own way :)
@nergirahardi standard tuning + capo on second fret!
This is better than the original!
I play this one!
Very nice cover..
But why does he use the bridge?
It sounds realy great without it either..
I wanna fly
it can be played on regular tuning....

Half step down and capo on 2nd fret.

@nittapada ) Tears in heaven - Kongphop Chaimongkhol
@Libed24 i really want this tabs
also do you have say no more tabs?
Because he plays in D standard normally. I suppose he just feels more comfortable with a capo on the second fret.
I play this in E standard with no capo because I feel more comfortable that way.

Great guitar player.
Is someone able to tab it and send me ?
i wish there was some sort of tutorial for this song..
no it isnt.. he probably played a couple of songs before this performance which means he would have to tune the guitar by ear during each break. Are tabs available anywhere?

The Asian Clapton!!!!
May I have the guitar pro file??
Alot of asians are becoming great guitarists
guys i have a question. If he downtunes all strings by half a step, and then puts a capo on the 2nd fret, wouldnt it sound the same as capo on first fret with standard tuning? why is there a need for the downtuning?
what kind of humidifier is he using?
as if tears in heaven is played in the heaven
@MeG0Rawrr I still think they have metronoms instead of hearts...
just directly use capo on the first fret with standard tuning ~ it's the same ~.^ hope this helps
Second fret, though.
!! :)
1bol1 if the tuning is half step down then put the capo on second fret :)
+kidden chin
i just figured it out lol
thanks anyway tho :3
@hhpa2005 ... so... capo 1st fret why not?
half step down , capo 2nd fret . :)
some parts remind me slightly of "over the rainbow"... dont know why^^
Its something you put on the strings .. Its like tuning up to F...
I don't know how to explain it in English..
LOL :P
