So true. My first school taught me how to combo with hands, but not as far as intricate as boxing. TKD is probably the heaviest kick martial art out there, so it's missing upper body striking and most importantly, a lot of grappling. Some schools teach grappling, but it's very limited certain to escape techniques, arm bars, choking, and pinning.
I will not lie though, I believe TKD is underutilized in MMA. I see so many situations in sparring/matches that call for a certain kick, but the fighter isn't comfortable enough to pull it off. Being able to instantly transition from a "Muay Thai" stance to the 70/30 backstance to pull off stronger kicks is game changing for strikers.

Same I did kickboxing/boxing and never respected karate or at least shotokan karate or taekwondo, but later in life I learned the benefits of chambering up kicks, and spent some time with some taekwondo guys who incorporated it into their kickboxing,
My kicks improved so much, I was always like spam front kicks, spam roundhouse, I never had confidence in hook kicks or spinning kicks but now man
It's like they opened up a whole world of new tools for me to use
Yea incomplete style but they're good at what they do

I wish Joe would put together a high-quality video of ALL his kicking techniques. I've seen the footage that everyone else has, but it would nice with proper camera work and lighting, and him not having to wipe the sweat off the floor every minute. When a guy like GSP says Joe's spinning back kick is the best he's ever seen, that's a serious statement and compliment. He's a great teacher, so it would make for an excellent reference and contribution to martial arts. And for those who don't know, they'd be amazed.

Mr. Rogan, what is your crass and brutally honest opinion on the controversial mixture of Muay Thai + Peek-A-Boo + Judo combined? Would such a combination of combat styles be considered LETHAL???

Bottom line is that Joe ain't no joke with those kicks. In a real world fight he would put you in the hospital or a coma with one kick to the head or body. Even just playin' around no way in hell I'd let him kick me.

He commented on the first UFC though, it's not like they could have hired a UFC champion. He has a BJJ black belt and was a Taekwondo champ, so he kinda gets it

Boxing is also has a lot holes in it. They won't last long if all they know is boxing in MMA. James Tony lasted a few seconds in MMA.

If Joe had went on to do Muay Thai after TKD instead of kickboxing, I really believe he would have enjoyed how fliud it is to transition into techniques. I also think he would have gained from having the ability to use all 8 limbs, like him enjoying the kicking more he probably would have enjoyed being able to knee aswell. IMHO
Like if you could'nt out box'em... then out sweep'em, out kick'em, out knee'em and or out elbow them :)

I know what we learn about our style is what we don't know about the other styles and what you don't know definitely get your hurt so like Joe said you're going to have to familiarize yourself with everything but the kitchen sink in order to properly attack or defend yourself

Of course you can. I recommend just stretching and practicing kicks in the air. You can always buy a punching bag to learn basics. I recommend Muay Thai.

Golden Gloves is so similar. I hate it, u cant play rope a dope. I lost in the finals, cuz this dude just threw volume, with me on the ropes, I was covered up, rockin and rollin. Since it simply looked like he was hitting hard, nothing landed! I was by far the more tech fighter. Never went back.

finger paintings imho, cm punk has no chance to win against joe rogan. joe is a black belt in 10th planet jiu jitsu, cm punk is only a blue belt in bjj. joe would win via submission for sure cause he is supreme and good at rubber guard. anyways they have different weigh 😂
