So true. My first school taught me how to combo with hands, but not as far as intricate as boxing. TKD is probably the heaviest kick martial art out there, so it's missing upper body striking and most importantly, a lot of grappling. Some schools teach grappling, but it's very limited certain to escape techniques, arm bars, choking, and pinning. I will not lie though, I believe TKD is underutilized in MMA. I see so many situations in sparring/matches that call for a certain kick, but the fighter isn't comfortable enough to pull it off. Being able to instantly transition from a "Muay Thai" stance to the 70/30 backstance to pull off stronger kicks is game changing for strikers.
Same I did kickboxing/boxing and never respected karate or at least shotokan karate or taekwondo, but later in life I learned the benefits of chambering up kicks, and spent some time with some taekwondo guys who incorporated it into their kickboxing, My kicks improved so much, I was always like spam front kicks, spam roundhouse, I never had confidence in hook kicks or spinning kicks but now man It's like they opened up a whole world of new tools for me to use Yea incomplete style but they're good at what they do
I wish Joe would put together a high-quality video of ALL his kicking techniques. I've seen the footage that everyone else has, but it would nice with proper camera work and lighting, and him not having to wipe the sweat off the floor every minute. When a guy like GSP says Joe's spinning back kick is the best he's ever seen, that's a serious statement and compliment. He's a great teacher, so it would make for an excellent reference and contribution to martial arts. And for those who don't know, they'd be amazed.
Take a look at Michael Jai White light sparring uria hall, I haven't seen anyone as confident with their kicks as this guy, opens up a whole new world for ya

Martial arts such as Taekwondo have martial arts that are "Related" to each other. In Taekwondo, Hapkido is taught in many clubs to teach clinch moves. Its the same thing with Karate and Aikido or Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, they are connected both in history and concept.
Joe undersells how good of a martial artist he is. He’s very well rounded and skilled. Obviously he couldn’t take on a professional MMA fighter but I reckon Joe could take on World Champion boxers in a real fight. Very very humble.

I know what we learn about our style is what we don't know about the other styles and what you don't know definitely get your hurt so like Joe said you're going to have to familiarize yourself with everything but the kitchen sink in order to properly attack or defend yourself

Golden Gloves is so similar. I hate it, u cant play rope a dope. I lost in the finals, cuz this dude just threw volume, with me on the ropes, I was covered up, rockin and rollin. Since it simply looked like he was hitting hard, nothing landed! I was by far the more tech fighter. Never went back.
