Many people don't know this today, but Joe Rogan is one of the best kickers of all time in the MMA space. As a national US Taekwondo champion and a BJJ blackbelt, he could've become a high level MMA fighter if he wanted.
Instead, he became a host and podcaster. About 9 years ago, he gave me support when I had no audience. Along the way, he's given me support many times publicly and through messages too. When things got hard, it was his podcast and the guests he brought on that helped me get through so many moments.
Thank you Joe, for everything you've done. I hope that your light will continue to shine through for people to see.
What do you think about what happened with JRE recently?

He meant no harm and had no ill intent but he should know using the word in any context would cause some chaos
Joes Joe.
He is a sweetheart, that being said, sometimes too sweet, because he isn't critical of others, look nobodys got it ALL together including me i get it.
He tells his friends straight up what's up i like that......
He calls Jon the POS roid loser POS a goat.... He puts him in his top 3,jon danher does it he is an idiot
As a martial artist myself do pai choi lee fut Hong Luck Kung Fu Toronto Canada.....
They took Jons belt right?
He was caught, everyone in the industry knows this
He used roids and headbutted DCs eye socket and finished with a roid head kick.... Its all on tape he 100 percent headbutted DCs eye on purpose WHILE using Steroids...
So joes kinda..... Slow.......
He never competed in MMA so how he is one of the best kickers, in the MMA world?
@@complexblackness When the arguable P4P best MMA fighter of all time comes to you for advice on how to sharpen up his turning side-kick, you're probably a pretty good kicker for ANY space. I don't think he was insinuating he's used the kicks in an MMA match.
I came to the channel after mentioned by Joe….. I heard the podcast taken out of context and what was said wasn’t with malicious intent. It was using using the word instead of insinuating the word. If we started doing that with fluid genders imagine the outrage!
Wow, his spinning back kick is a masterpiece! I could not catch by eye the final, leg extention part of the move, even if accentuate attention on this!
yes leg extension is big key to getting power and follow through. masterpiece for sure!
Muay Thai and Taekwondo is actually a really effective combination for striking focused Martial Art's. Muay Thai gives you very good infighting ability, combined with an effective defense against some of the primary weaknesses of Taekwondo in full-contact fighting, whilst TKD gives you great distance management (because you absolutely need this to ever pull kicks off even in sparring or point fighting) and a variety of long ranged options that you can use to exploit opponents as you re/engage. This is common even in Muay Thai sparring/fights, as fighters commonly break after an exchange, then return to infighting, so throwing out a good spinning back/sidekick which can absolutely end fights if the opponent walks onto it, but is useful even just as a tool to break guards or injure an opponent so you can re-enter their range with an advantage if you follow-up appropriately. Cyrus Washington has done this quite extensively within Muay Thai competition, and Muay Thai fighters have started to pick up longer ranged kicks in recent years.
If you throw some Boxing into this, you end up with an extremely well-rounded striking toolset. You can also replace TKD with Kyokushin somewhat, because Kyokushin has adopted many TKD style kick's, though it has less distance management, but makes up for that by teaching you how to high kick at extremely close range!
true! if you see samarts fighting style, you can see that he got boxing hands and footworks. he fought so effortlessly with muay thai and boxing combination.
Do you think Bruce lee can fight in a mma? Kindly share your expertise opinions thks very much
Yeah that's why i mixed Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Boxing
@@robintang7304
If he trained for it, yeah, he was a pretty good athlete. If you just took Bruce as he was in his prime and threw him in the ring with someone like Demetrius Johnson he would 100% lose though, outside of puncher's chance of course. Bruce was cross-training in Martial Art's, but he wasn't a full contact fighter in regards to competitive experience, and he also had nowhere near the grappling to defend against a well-rounded MMA fighter, even if his striking was up to scratch, which is doubtful because most MMA fighters have more striking experience even at the lower levels. A mediocre pure wrestler would probably completely wreck him, let alone someone like DJ or TJ Dillashaw who are also great at stand-up.
Bruce would likely have loved MMA if he was born in the past few decades, but the same level of fighters just didn't exist back then, not only that but Bruce didn't fight in anything even resembling full-contact MMA. This is pretty much the same consensus anyone will give you, including professional fighters, if they are being objective and not blinded by the legend surrounding Bruce, which is very different to the man's actual capabilities.
Excellent description 👌🏼👌🏼
What an awesome time to put out a Joe Rogan video.
agreed :)
Perfect timing 😃
The MMA community knows Joe's character and needs to stand firmly behind him in support. His honest and sincere approach to communication and the sharing of knowledge has improved the world in numerous ways. The man is a leader and a legend, and he brings a voice of sanity to this insane world we're living in right now.
exactly bro
I was going to write a comment of my own, but yours sums Rogan up perfectly 👏👏👏
Its also really funny to watch him high out of his mind
I lost respect in him when he gladly supported White genocide.
the precision of the question mark kick is insane
absolutely!
It was my favorite technique back when I trained, especially from the lead leg. People in sparring just couldn't see it coming lol
Cancel culture's worst aspect is the disregard to allow people to grow from their mistakes and become better individuals. It literally pauses a person from growing. That's a huge problem! We need people to feel vulnerable and admitting their mistakes with a genuine want to be better instead of harassing them for being wrong in turn never allowing them to understand their mistakes. Otherwise more people will stop admitting their faults in fear of harassment. There's a difference between accountability and harassment.
Yes and I think Rogan is demonstrating great vulnerability and authenticity / humility through all this.
No; Cancel Culture's worst aspect is that it exists in the first place. Cancel Culture needs to be cancelled.
I love the spinning back kick to the liver
it's a great technique
his round kick looks like he adopted more of the muay thai style kick coupled with that crazy dexterity he got from taekwondo
It's amazing that how motivational a one person can be. Love Joe.
2 words: Valentina Shevchenko. Started in TKD, watched Benny Urquidez fights when she was young and was inspired to use spinning techniques, then won pretty much everything there is to be won in kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA.
The most underrepresented but imo one of the best techniques from tkd that can be used in other striking is the ability to kick and move back at the same time. Firing a rear leg while moving your front leg to where your rear foot was allows you to throw a hard kick move back without losing balance. It is very hard to do though and switches your stance which is a big no no for a lot of kickboxers but if you can get good at it, it's very useful for striking and maintaining distance.
oh yeah, we learned how to kick moving forwards ("chasing" almost), backwards, in place and side stepping!
Lawrence a lot of Thai boxers have gotten knocked out or have trouble with non trad Thai moves. As you’ve seen Singdam has been knocked out twice by spinning hook kicks, seems to be a weakness. You also see a lot of Thais have trouble fighting Sanda specialists. Which have similar moves to tkd.
i think it's important to remember these are outliers, they usually beat them. most elite sanda players who transition to kickboxing hired a thai coach
Love content like this. Makes my already huge love for martial arts grow so much more
thanks so much for the support!
You're welcome bro Genuinely glad to be a supporter of such a great channel! Thank you for putting together this content 🙏 and enlightening us on martial arts 🥋
from someone who does boxing, judo, ITF and WTF taekwondo, this man is amazing. form to power of the kick, the execution of the leg cocking back and extending is just bravo.
I used to train with Dave Johnston in Albuquerque back in the day. The guy had incredible kicks not only was he a World champion kickboxer he had great forums too. All around great martial artists a lot people would probably never know.
One of the best examples I loved you showing was super kick Vick. Tkd and boxing. When Thai boxing wasn’t as popular.
ah I gotta feature him again for sure
Wallahi bro you are a great man he supported you when no one knew you now as you have grown a following you are supporting him in his time of need...we stand with Joe Rogan bruv.💪🏼
Thank you for giving credit where credit is due. Alot of mma fanboys don't want too admit the amount of high level tkd we see in mma.
Joe Rogan is a primary example of how someone can be an expert, even brilliant in one area, and not in others. I will always value his insight into MMA (and combat sports in general) and most of his comedy.
lol he's never claimed to be an "expert" at whatever you're insinuating.
@@nibirunomicon3203 yes he has.......
Mad virgin soy eaters and vaxophiles vs chad ivermectin and meat enjoyer.
Also all these "tkd" kicks exist in MT too
@@hatyhate done any thinking for yourself recently?
I learnead about your channel from Joe Rogan. You're both great human beings.
thanks so much petar!
Joe Rogan I've always had major respect for you, but man I've gotta say you're such a great artist and wise, such a beast
are you saying it to him?? :)
Yes I'm sure he watches your clips bro!!
Yes I'm sure he watches your clips bro!!
@@LawrenceKenshin this is honestly one of my favorite videos you've posted since I've subscribed...
This channel is amazing I can't stop watching the videos. I have been training mma for about 18 months and want to have my first amateur kickboxing fight later this year or early 2023. Striking is just so much fun and so fascinating to me
the famous turning side kick (not actually a back kick) was taught to Joe Rogan by J.H. Kim when Joe studied with him at his Boston, Mass. dojang in the 80s. He also learned other TKD basics there, including the wheel kick, which he won tournaments with and knocked out some of his opponents.
sometime they die in broken english
Rogan made me someone I’m prouder of today. And you sir are my martial arts wizard 🧙♀️
Amazing vid as always and what a kick.
much love!
Another beautiful brake down we expect nothing less from the best channel on the tube 💯🥊.
thank you so much brother!
Brilliant video mate and I wouldn’t want to take on of joes spinning side kicks I would be tasting my intestines 🤣🤣
haha me neither! thanks so much for watching!
Rogan is The man 🤙
big time!
He’s the best
Not the man. He is THEE MAN!
I did Taekwondo for 12 years. However I also trained with MT, Judo, and Kung-fu. I firmly believe the statements of Joe Rogan to be true on how effective those moves to be used. It makes me enjoy the fact that I had the opportunity to train in the Power TKD days. I'm glad now more people are starting to see that TKD gets the love that it deserves. Because It also teaches us to be well rounded fighters once we step into other arts! Loved the video!
Grate thanks 🙏🏽
so glad i subbed
thank you for subbing!
Im doing kickboxing but apparently my teacher did takewondo in his youth. Because we are learning all those kicks for the different belts
great!
In Axe or Kusarigama training they teach you to counter the turning side kick by diving under and reap or sweep the leg, not sure how common it was in armed combat but it was still taught so common enough i guess.
You’re a real man. I found you because of JRE and sub instantly.
Loving this on so many levels. Stay real bro 👊
thank you bro
Hats off for supporting Joe and keep up the great content!
🙏🙏
As a TKD and muay thai guy... GREAT VID! And Joe will be ok...
Nailed it Joe 👌 tried and tested great technique..
❤️
Thanks man... wonderfull !!! Impressive Kicks by Joe...
yesss
Oh sht, just realized Joe does his spinning hook kick and connects with his heel. Old school TKD destruction style. A true knockout kick.
4:11 I've been trying to say this to Muay Thai guys in TKD video's, tkd can work if you understand the fundamentals first
yes big time!
Amazing videos
Really appreciate this video. Equally disappointed in the ufc and rest of commentary group for not walking out to support him.
The amount of rotational torque Joe generates is phenomenal, so much power and speed, much respect.
A great video!! Joe Rogan is an amazing guy, I’ve not met him but done so much amazing work
agree!
Love your videos man! What's the name of the soundtracks ? it's amazing !
thanks for the support! let me check if I find will let you know!
I love your UA-cam. I also love joe💜
Love the show of love.
Vitor and Luke rockhold is a dandy example of the spinning heel kick as well
give that to the MSM !
haha
Excellent video.
Impressive kicks.
Glad you like them!
Great upload.
at 1:59 was Benny Urquidez! Ive never heard Joe Rogan give any props to Benny
Benny "the jet" Urquidez would use the question mark kick almost exclusively aswell.
which clip was your favorite?
@@LawrenceKenshin Any of the clips with a spinning kick to the liver brutal stuff!!!!
Another great video. One of the best channels 💯
I appreciate the support!
I gave up trying to watch Joe's kick from his younger years in that comp, its just so so bloody quick! One questhion I have is how can somone block a kick like this?
They sound like *BAP!*
boooom
Spinning back kick is a killer
I just love what the thumbnail says lmao
hahahaha
Thanks so much for the video💯😁
thank you
@@LawrenceKenshin yore welcome brotha😁
Well spoken
thanks!
Amazing!!!! Joe's the man! Great work, Lawrence
Joe Rogan was so awesome on fear factor.
never really watched it expect that part where he used the muay thai clinch!
Thanks for the video! He has some skill for sure.
thanks for watching!
Great upload!
thanks so much for watching!!
The era of power is scary, but taekwondo choose the bad route in the name of "safety" and that's makes a huge drop.
spinning back kick to the ribs hurt like hell. that's why you never get predictable with your strikes.
3:51 the speed between those two kicks is amazing
Dubon bit/chagui (second kick a dollyo chagui)
Man , Joe has a wicked kick ! Respect Canada
It really warms my heart to see all the support from the martial arts community for Joe Rogan :D
Cung Le was also a TKD black belt
Mad respect
thank you
this wheel kick is a thunder
5:35 is Kyokushin
Feitosa is Kyokushin.
His kicks are absolutely legendary, such perfection in the technique. Did TKD for 4 years and just the subtlety of his form...makes my jaw drop.
Joe was always one of the best and most credible ambassadors of martial arts. But since I realized, that he decided to not bow to the mainstream and its culture of spreading fear and hate and cancellation of persons who don't agree with what we are globally told to believe, I truly truly admire him. He became a role model for my own life.
I'm surprised Joe Rogan's roundhouse kicks are so good coming from a Taekwondo/karate background!
I expect ridiculously effective roundhouse kicks from Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai Champion but usually American karate kicks are not as effective shall I say. Hats off to Joe Rogan! I'd hate to be on the receiving end of one of those kicks! Thanks for standing up for Joe Rogan!
Joe Rogan's kicks are super powerful, whatever he said about martial arts I trust completely.
The reason why I and many others have a better outlook on the world today. He unknowingly guided, if not created a vast majority of the martial arts community Doing more for people than many who work for your own government. Kicks like a beast also.
I like your work. I believe in you!!!
• turning side kick
• spinning back kick
same same
WOW!!!
thanks for watching!
Thank to god we have Joe Rogan
i agree world is better with him
This is a great channel
thanks so much!
Id love to learn a minimum of 3 martial arts, anywhere up to 8 of them , wow imagine a UFC fighter being able to do some of the things that people can do in taekwondo or certain wowza kicks in general
Denis Siver had a mean spinning back kick
Thnx. Didn't know Joe Rogan was a TKD Champ of USA. Salutations to this great man, Joe Rogan.
Lol, love the title, either way he will be fine. 100 mil is a good chunk of change
He could call you for an episode, would bem awesome.
Hell yeah man!
more taekwondo videos please
What music is playing at the background could anyone pls Id?
I've never seen tkd guys a Brazilian kick but I've seen it at every high level kyokushin tournament Ive seen.
Well, there is Taekwondo where you do punches, leg strikes, leg sweps, take down and even knife fighting. And then there is Taekwondo imitation - an Olympic discipline with strict sparring rules ...
I would never fu@k with Joe Rogan.
Pure beast he is
big beast!
🗽
👏🏾
👍🏾
I mean Joe does have some very powerful kicks, he's stout dude with some nice speed in them and his movement as well. tho His range of how and what he can do with them is not exactly what you would expect out of tae Kwon do, really reminds me more of a fast Muay Thai style almost than it does tkd with the exception of some of techniques he uses like the spinning and jump kicks(which he seems to avoid more of the really getting into the air with with it, which is tactically smart in most situations anyway) however for his body type he picked the better approach for him personally. Overall no complaints, legitimately impressed with his ability to use it especially some of the more flashy style kicks, takes alot more physical ability and training to make those work. He's definitely put some effort into training
Nah, this kicking skill was very common during a certain era of taekwondo---from about the mid 80's to the late 90's/very early 2000's. It's being called the "Power Era" now. I was lucky enough to have trained and competed during that time. The wild thing is as great as Joe's kicks are, there are many from that same era with even higher skill. Herb Perez was someone I patterned my kicking after. Danny Kim, Hyeon Lee... so many killers back then.
I'm going to say this, taekwondo won't work against me, but Joe Rogan's taekwondo will kill me from a stare.
Mr. Joe is there anything that is just called a spin kick in TKD? Some jack-ass on UA-cam was talking shit about How he knocks people out with a "Spin" kick I told him I never heard of a spin kick in any discipline! He told me I didn't know what I was talking about! Can you clear that up for me? Thanks!
