I am amazed with Ford, they know how to make very good looking vehicles. I have ordered the Puma. The Explorer looks great. Let’s wait and see how it will drive.
Your comment "slightly better job than the VW thing" 5:50 is the understatement of the century. It's nicest way of putting it. And that's from an ID.3 driver. The explorer is the ID.4 VW should have given people.
Agree first impression is it looks better than the ID4, especially the inside. All will come down to process as is the case with everything. Excluding Ford lovers. Usual great video. Des
It looks really good. I think these will be very popular in Ireland. I'm not crazy on the Ford badge myself but this car has turned my head ever since the first pictures were released. You can see how much it is based on the ID4 in the boot and behind the seats.
Not sure if he invented the electric car but unfortunately the Model T was it's downfall. Hopefully it will come back to being a big player in the EV space
I like it. Love the style. Currently have a Kuga and would be interested in this. Only reservation would be the price. If it's going to be over £40,000 in the UK, it will be way too expensive. I think a Volvo EX30 at prices from £34,000 would be my preference.
Great looking car! I could easily see myself in one of these. And I'm not even a fan of the SUV vehicle styling. Sadly it'll probably out of my price range at the moment 😢.
Thanks for the comment Richard. Indicative pricing we are hearing is starting below 50k in Ireland which is better than ID.4. The SUV styling is unfortunately what the majority of the market wants
Looks like the typical Head-Up-Display box under the front window on the driver's side. But didn't they say all the time, the Explorer EV won't have a HUD?
First off, no EV is on my list just yet - the cynical overpricing has a way to go for the majority of us. It will be at some stage though, it’s the way to go. Having said that, I really like the look of this. Far superior in styling to some of the odd designs that KIA is turning out just now and way less cumbersome than VW’s ‘bread van’ theme. A shame that they’ve included the VW things on the interior that are regularly criticised in those cars, the window switches, haptic buttons etc: hopefully they’ll evolve out eventually. Friends and neighbours - both young and older - who have id3 and id4 models all, without exception, talk of those as annoying and unnecessary. Then there’s the software issues that, apparently, VW still cannot fix. Minor things in the bigger picture of ownership of course but 5 of said owners, 2 who have been VW buyers for many years, have stated they will end their relationship with VW after their current cars and have actively dissuaded others from buying one. Poor interior quality of the new cars in so many ways being what they are. Especially as they’re expected to pay premium prices for cars that have obviously been built ‘to a price.’ That would have been unthinkable at one time. They also say that VW after sales has always been sub standard but they could live with that because the cars were so well built: well, the bits you looked at and touched anyway. So darned solid. But not now it seems which is a shame. This though looks really promising and a design that will age well. (Unlike myself) Let’s hope Ford use their own software though. Nice review.
I think the ID issues are over exaggerated and mostly highlighted online by car reviewers. My wife's ID4 is still heaps better than her old Tiguan. Remember, it's still the best selling EV in Ireland and most people don't care about a few software issues and haptic buttons. The new software in the ID7 is excellent and this will be rolled into the ID4 facelift next year. Like the ID4 this car will sell well. It's big, in the price range of middle income young families and it's a Ford.
Would have liked the vehicle to be a bit larger. The rear seat legroom looks a bit tight to me. Not really an ‘Explorer’ with respect to the U.S. version. I know it’s been designed for the European market. Just a bit too small - shame!! I think by the time it’s officially released and production is underway, it’s going to be already in ‘catch up’ mode. Other manufacturers & models are going to be better.
Is actually a little shorter. The All-electric Ford Explorer is 4,460mm and the Kuga is is between 4,614mm and 4,629mm long depending on which trim level you go for,
Actudlly it does look quiet classy inside with a nice dash. My Dad used to drives Fords he had a Mondeo LX MK 3 🤮 then an S-Max Zetec better then a C-Max titanium was class. Then after that has had 3 Kia Sportages. Fords biggest probkem is there sales people were just crap. Did not care. Imagine telling a potentual customer that you look small in a car they were thinking of buying. They need to do better if they want to sell cars at 50k.
Got to wonder what idiot thought it was a good idea to save a few Euros on not having rear window controls on the door, but electric seats that rarely move are better to add (wieght!) 🤦♂
Don't forget your laptop, it's on the passenger seat! Car looks ok. Too much VW in terms of buttons with no feel. Is the Fisker Ocean coming to Ireland? That looks like a lot of car for the money.
Did I hear you right Derek...no frunk??? Considering the Mach-e and Ford 150 Lightning both have frunks and quite big as well. That sounds odd to me will be interesting to see it once you can open it all up and do the full drive review. What the heck is the music playing when you close the back of it...dooo dee do dooo de dooo dooo de dooo...really Ford!! Sorry of course this is made or licensed by VW so no wonder there is no frunk...ridiculous VW! Seats are very Tesla-esque looking.
Pity the car has the usual cheap and ergonomically very poor all touchscreen controls. All Chinese EV builders make the same mistake. Not to mention Tesla. Amazing how experienced legacy builders just copy such bad designs.
I am amazed with Ford, they know how to make very good looking vehicles.

Looking forward to driving it and finding out the price

Price
2 trims, Select and Premium. Saying that the Select trim will start below €50k which beats VW
Looks great! It is on my list!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. One for the list for sure and I'm really looking forward to trialing them
Great review mate
Glad you liked it!
Nice romanian Design by Liviu Tudoran 🇷🇴
Liking this… it’ll be on my first EV Shortlist. Keen to watch first of the detailed road tests.
Looking forward to driving it too and reporting back

Thanks for the comment. With such a strong ID 4 market I think so too
Badge snob? 😅
@@willielarsson9651 yep. Aren't we all?
I enjoyed watching the Video 😀
Thanks!
Would love one. Thanks
Me too
Cool review. Just a question, do the thigh support extenders come with all trim levels? These should be standard in all cars (me being 6'4")😁
Agree and it's something I don't know. Let me ask and come back to you.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland cheers Derek. Appreciate that 👍
No word back yet unfortunately
@@NevoEVReviewIreland thanks for getting back to me anyway Derek. I'm sure more spec info will be released over time. 👍
Looks great.
Any idea when you'll get to review the new Transit Custom ?
I'm told potentially before the end of the year. Really looking forward to it
Any information on whether it will have bi-directional charging?
Thanks for the question. No mention of it at the press conference
Nice, would it be much smaller than Peugeot 3008? Need some more tests to verify the actual range but this looks pretty tempting...
I think bigger if not the same size. This is the same size as the Volkswagen ID.4
Will it support bidirectional charging?
Potentially but need to confirm
Ford invented the electric car 100 years ago in 1908.
MAKE FORD GREAT AGAIN.
Not sure if he invented the electric car but unfortunately the Model T was it's downfall. Hopefully it will come back to being a big player in the EV space
daaaaang i can't wait to see the 80k msrp + 25k market adjustment for this!
2 trims (Select and Premium) and the entry price starting below €50k we were told today
@@NevoEVReviewIreland yeah but the US market is completely bonkers and will absolutely ignore that pricing
Oh yes, the US market model is a little mad alright
@@NevoEVReviewIreland always has been hehehehe
this is never going to america

EX30 looks great. .just worried it's going to be tiny inside.
Price is going to make or break it
Jeez it's the Volvo EX30 on steroids.
😂 A little bigger than the EX30 for sure
Id say it's more like the id.4
But cheaper 👌
Great looking car! I could easily see myself in one of these. And I'm not even a fan of the SUV vehicle styling. Sadly it'll probably out of my price range at the moment 😢.

They killed the ford mondeo and fiesta for this #comebackfiesta
A small electric car would be great
@@NevoEVReviewIreland but the affordability is killed . The fiesta costed around £21k . This one starts around £48k .
HUD available?
Thanks for the question. Not that I can recall. There seems to be a panel for one on the dash.

Great review as usual Derek, not very exciting though imo.🥴
Ha ha, just another electric SUV. I'm easily pleased
Will it be cheaper than ID4? Need to be, to compete really??
Told today the price for the entry level would be under €50k which will be cheaper yes
@@NevoEVReviewIrelandwhat the battery size on the entry level though? VW 52kwh now over €50k? 😮
Oh, let me check and see if they'll tell me
With the headrests the way they are how could you attach a tablet for a kid? Crucial for long journey!
Oh, good point!
Well done Derek
Mmm I don't know, nice but a bit American for me.
Good first look
Thanks Jim. Need to call down to you before the winter comes in

Smaller than a Kuga? I thought the Explorer was supposed to be a big car..
The US version and original is waaaay bigger
Hello mate it has a look of the old ford C-max
Definitely has Ford DNA in it
Lol no it does not. Not the MK 1 or 2. They were real Fords great to drive with class and style although they could have been built better.

Based on the VW ID platform and none of those have frunks. I'm really looking forward to driving it
@@NevoEVReviewIreland I'd forgotten that, bit unfortunate considering Ford so far has decent frunks in their other two EV's as mentioned.
