Had a similar issue until I re read the instructions and it talks about turning the crisp plate round and putting it half way into the tray What difference it made The double stack is a trade odd big time but not tried it yet with a full chicken
Excellent review! Returned mine for exactly what you said, uneven cooking. I also don't like the sounds of the alerter it is annoying. Exchanged it for a Cosori dual basket and couldn't be happier.
@@florianlindner88 I am, sadly. disappointed in the hit and miss performance of this item but will continue use it for some time. Would I suggest that you purchase one? 'NO'!
I am one that researches stuff to death so I'm so glad i saw this video. The number of times I have nearly clicked to buy this based on the reviews where the writer got the air fryer as a gift is unreal.....Big thumbs up for this Kip, thank you.
I have a Duronic dual air fryer that only cost me £129 on Amazon (which has two 5ltr drawers and one gigantic 10ltr drawer, I do think that I got it on offer as they are £134.99 with the three drawers now) and we have had it for 5 months now and it still looks good as new! It cooks evenly and quickly (a salmon fillet cooks in 6-8 minutes!) We wouldn't be without it now. Thanks for a thorough and honest review of this fryer (I was thinking of getting one as I liked the space saving stacking, however, I'm not bothering now as I have seen the same comments from other reviewers . . . hubby thanks you too as he is fed up with me buying - what he calls my 'white elephants') TFS and have a great day! 👍
I notice you didn't read the instruction on the righthand margin of the cookingvchart that suggests shaking and flipping. I have a dual. Not had that issue.
Very glad I saw this and another video before buying. Have bought the other side by side airfryer instead. They need to do a recall of the product, who would want to cook in something that doesnt cook stuff properly?
I've had mine for two weeks, absolutely brilliant, chips do cook evenly as long as you remove the draw at least three times and shake, chicken breast cook lovely, don't no what this guys on about.
Look at all the other comments.. I’m not alone. It’s badly designed - who wants to keep checking on their food. It wastes energy opening it and shaking it too.
There are so many videos out there, where the people obviously got this air fryer for the purpose of product testing and you can see the disappointment right in their eyes, when they pull out the tray, like you did. And they say, maybe they did something wrong in shaking. No! Its a definitely not acceptable result for a product in that price class. So thank you so much for this real talk and for not hyping on this, just because its Ninja and it should do better on its job. I will keep pragmatic and look for a better air fryer.
Ultimately people watch my videos occasionally with a view to purchasing a product that I’ve shown.. I don’t think I could sleep at night if I was waxing lyrical about a product that was actually rubbish. So many UA-cam people don’t actually BUY the things they are reviewing, it’s all gifted.. most of what you see here is MINE. So I don’t have to be overly polite or have PR person breathing down my neck. 😂
@@kiphakes Exacly! That's what makes such reviews way more objective. That being said, I would suggest every manufacturer to aim for more objective and in fact radical honestly reviewers, even if it lets product designers sometimes breaking down in tears, because those are worth to support. When it comes to future design choices, there is a benefit to learn from such reviews.
Very short of space in our holiday caravan so purchased one of these - have Ninja dual drawer at home but took up too much space. Despite the double stacks little quirks I like it and use it every day! I tend not to ‘double stack’ in the drawers as there are only the two of us so don’t usually need to so maybe that’s why I haven’t had problems? Mine still looks like new, no wear and tear issues so maybe you were unlucky!
We have one and have many issues with it it don’t even work it will light up but the dial will not work and you can’t cook anything in it because it will not start so annoying can work one minute and stop the next and not work for days as well sending ours back
I looked at them yesterday and Ended up with The Ninja NF300UK it fit's perfect in the corner on the 600 worktops, the Nf400 although bigger would look to big plus the design and chrome looked cheap. I don't want the faff of shaking draws more than once. Your's is not Faulty and Nija will change the design I recon.
Biggest problem would be cooking grease foods because of the basket rear screen. Grease would either blow or over flow out the basket holes. Ninja didn't think this completely through
Great video, I have had the exact same issue with the uneven cooking. Mine is going back today. This issue is for both the drawers. On top of that, it takes nearly double the time to cook the same things that the air fryer function in the ninja foodi max done, and it does not do them as well.
The dual zone works so much better and seems to cook way faster. I love the idea of the stack and it looks nice but they obviously didn't test it thoroughly enough before putting on the market... and they also seem to have cut costs on materials?? Certainly not good for their reputation
I like the concept and design of this Ninja but I read and saw way too many reviews mentioning the uneven cooking and the bad finishing of the handles. I bought a Cosori.
Wished i saw this 2 days ago! So frustrating and disappointing. nothing evenly cooked and double cooking times... so disappointed. Do I just take it back to store or Ninja themselves? Thanks for this.
I'd maybe speak to Ninja support, they will probably tell you to take it back.. But I think the more people that let them know directly might lead to change!
Was going to order this for the form factor but I’ll just get the usual dual design. It’s annoying because I don’t have a lot of space in my kitchen due to how it was designed 😑
Yep I'd say design fault. I've had a single draw ninja for a while now and it's faultless no probs. Glad you put this video up as was thinking about getting one of these. Might just get one a the Ninjas where the drawers are side by side.
Read the instructions, you are supposed to shake the contents of the tray 3 times (yes 3 times) to get even cooking. Although this is not ideal or as good as the other dual zone that only needs the once, it is in the instructions for the stack
@KipHakes I bought one this weekend from John Lewis as I got £30 off plus i had £15 in vouchers. I got as far as reading instructions. In the warnings it says to have 15 cm of clearance above it and on each side. It also says not to have it at edge of worktop. I haven’t got it out of the box. I measured with tape measure & only have 7cm height clearance umder wall cupboard and 12 cm depth clearance. I think I'll have to re arrange my kitchen and maybe get a non stackable version!! It says not to put paper in it but on brownies recipe it says line with parchment paper! It says not to have it next to a cooker. Mine was going next to the cooker but I wouldn't have the cooker on!
I always thought the design was flawed but my worry was if you shake certain foods it would escape out of the back grate. We had the other double drawer version and the non stick came off after 2 uses, I'd not buy any Ninja/Shark products.
Mine works amazing for cooking steaks and I've even cooked some tater tots for the kids. None of these uneven issues and the bottom of the steak is always going to cook different than the top side. Especially if we don't flip it part way through.
I'm glad you are letting us know of the issues you had with this unit. I was curious how it cooked. We have the Ninja one that has the baskets side by side. We have had it for about a year and really like it. It has similar/same features as the stacked on (matched cooking, start/finish at same time, etc.)
I will stick to my 10-QT Ninja Dual. I originally had the 8-QT which was re-homed to my son. I am very pleased with both of these models. The Double Stack just does not appeal to me at all. The open back, the fan and heating element in the back....no go. I have many Ninjas; all kinds. At first, it was an addiction of sorts. Not so much at this point.
That's the problem with the fan position. I have the same problem with the oven. Same fan position. That is the reason they have put the fan on top at first place
I purchased one of their dual fryers and the silver plastic on the handle was scratched up and bubbling straight out of the box. The crisper plate was chipped too🤔 Not impressed with the quality and sent it straight back
I bought double stack air fryer in August 24, using tonight cooking food, and there is no power to the unit checked fuse and used different socket but still no power. To be honest I don’t think ninja is a very good brand.
I bought a Cosori today after all those negative reviews of this Ninja. I love the concept and design of the Ninja though! However the Cosori CAF-R901 looks very good too but it does take a bit more surface space. From this weekend on you can get a Ninja SL400 for €160 in their pre Black Friday sale: maybe it's going to get discontinued soon?!?
I am a 45y single and i own a Tefal "Actifry FZ751W" and it is a turning one. It turns while a shower of hot air blowing the Goods underneath the Hot Air Outlet. Never have experienced a bad or undone Load. It is build with a fixed Pan underneath and a turning axle where the Basket is mounted over it - and it also can do soups or Goulash in the Pan itself if you switch the Basket for a Rotating spoon-thing. OKAY you cannot use Baking Paper but the Pan itself is a Teflon Non-Stick
The top & bottom heating elements is more a gimmick than anything else since the heat is going to heat the bottom of the metal basket before it reaches the food. I own air fryers since first digital controlled models came out and have been pretty impressed with ninja double draw model. Their air broil does a great job cooking steaks much better than thought it would have. I have several ninja appliances and haven't been disappointed in any. I would not buy this or thirsty much prefer sodastream. I have creami deluxe but haven't tried it yet because no room to store containers in my freezer.
They should design a double stack where the top self does top heating and the bottom side heating. It would obviously make the whole thing really tall!
I have the cosori dual blaze as well, it's really great. It's good because of the twin elements. Out of all the ones i've seen on the market i think it's the best one
Hmmm, being the sceptic that I am, wonders how an air fryer, set colder than a conventional fan oven with chips stacked on top of each other and seemingly little room underneath can ever cook anything properly.
I think having to shake the food more than once makes an airfryer feel less like it's saving you time - heck, some things in my Cosori one don't even need a shake - it just cooks evenly without messing around. I'm sure other Ninjas are great, this one just doesn't have physics on its side.
When I see the double stack ninja being advertised, I did say to them it was the wrong design for the reason you have stated, it will never work as the convection part is set wrong unless they can come up with a way of in stalling another 2 fans they might as well scrap them
Wow and people rave about Ninja products I have a Cosori it's brilliant big enough for me 3.8 litre size 99.99 from Amazon when I checked the reviews for both the Cosori won hands down xx
Always been a Cosori fan, have many of their products. This is my first Ninja product and very disappointed. Returned it and bought a Cosori Dual basket air fryer, and I love it!
Je suis d'accord. Il ne cuit pas les aliments de la même manière à l'arrière et à l'avant . J'ai essayé des poivrons, du poulet et des frites de patates douce. Résultat : décevant. Je vais le renvoyer dès aujourd'hui. Dommage
My Ninja 10 in 1 Oven is better than all these iterations they've produced over the last 2 years or so.. It'll cook a whole roast. Or two 12" Pizzas etc! For anything smaller, I have a Cosori 3.8l smart Air Fryer.. best of both worlds ❤️👍
having worked on lots of air fryers the ninja ones are over hyped over priced for what you get the designs are good its the quality and reliability that let them down. people needs to accept if you buy a premium prouduct it needs to be good or if there are issues repaired easy. to many brands relie on people chucking away after a few yeats and buy an new one. good for business cheap out on parts they break buy a new one no need to make quality product
Sounds like Ninja is cutting costs and compromising quality for profit, hope this is not the case and its a genuine fault, you would not expect Ninja to have quality problems.
Ninja should never have put this product on the market given all the negative comments I've seen from anyone who isn't a paid, Amazon received-for-free through Vine program shill. It clearly has design flaws cooking unevenly front-to-back.
the product must be recalled. Uneven cooking is not only inconvenient it's outright dangerous. An unevenly cooked chicken could send people to the hospital. The idea of the product is good, it's a space saver but it's obviously badly designed.
It just plain looks ridiculous. I bought the Ninja Double oven. It suffers a bit from the same issue. The bottom oven is solely a “fan” oven. No radiant coils on top or bottom. It has what looks like the same heating design as this oven. A powerful convection set up. It bakes wonderfully, but falls short on air frying. Uneven. Nothing like the basket air fry with the coils on top. I think the Ninja with the Mega zone would be worth trying. That said, I’m getting tired of these gadgets.
So mistake number 1, i would hahe cooked the chips at 200C for 12 minutes straight and see how they come out and then shake it around loads and back in for abother 10 minutes bet it will cook. One negative that i do find is snall chips do fall through but i hagejt used mine enough yet. I have noticed what yoy said with sausages twice though, cooks/burns at the front not at the back bur obviously with sausages you turn them anyways so I tend to turn mine around.
I don't understand why people rave about Ninjas, they are overpriced and plastic and apparently don't work either. My Cosori airfryer oven cost a third as much, is made of stainless steel, has a rotisserie and cooks pizzas. It has top and bottom elements with a window and light so that you can see what's going on.
I had a Philips before - the inside looked like crap after a short time. My (old) dual Ninja was a gamechanger from the beginning. I have no problem using it.
I've had a ninja 10 in 1 pressure cooker foodie for over 5 years and it still works great. I was looking for something smaller and with a handle to remove the basket (reviving did from the pot, it removing the pot while hot is a pain...literally). The thing is a very multifunctional though. I aur fry in it, Anna dehydrate herbs in it (they just swish around, so I usually don't even need to move them around). I also bought a ninja coffee maker a year and a half ago. The power supply went out (likely due to a storm). Ninja replaced it for free. That being said, I also had a Nuwave air fryer toaster oven whose display stopped working altogether at least 2 years after we got it. They replaced it for free, too. However, I'm glad I saw this video. I'm not buying the doublestack now. I am still looking for a ceramic small air fryer with adjustable temperature. I bought small stainless steel plates and use them in the one I have. It is so much easier to clean.
This is obviously operator error and it baffles me always how entitled everyone is. It's like some people need the Cosori "shake" air fryer and or be told everything. When you cook Pizza you rotate it once right? Usually stir, flip, shake, turn etc.... when cooking? When items get returned that are working as intended the cost usually comes back to the consumer. Either by dumbing tech down or having unnecessary R&D costs. There are actually people here that would have bought this but don't have the basic knowledge to think, "maybe not everything is set it and forget it"! I hope your next product works and caters completely to your wants and needs!
It’s an absolute garbage product.. my old airfryer needed one shake of the food.. this requires 4 and still doesn’t cook right.. Loads of people are having this issue, it’s not user error it’s a bad design.
I don’t never follow THE book, the times that it’s given I always put it in 30 or 35 minutes for the chips, if it’s done before the time that I put I just turned it off why do we all expect that to be cooked when even that says 10 10 minutes and we all expect things to be done within five minutes or 10 minutes. I have got ninja too, but not like that one. This looks really cool actually because it’s spacesaving. When it’s not cooking the backside only the front side is cooking. This is definitely have got a problem.
@@kiphakes I’m not using whole 30 minutes. I’m just sitting it for longer time just in case if it needs a little bit more time. Plus no thanks for the oven I’m a disabled person

All the reviews say the same. It’s rubbish compared to the 2 draw version. Expect it to come off the market very quickly.
I ordered on yesterday 12/08/24 I will cancel the I will for the Ninja foodi dual max ..thank you
You commented that you had one and it was 10/10?!
@@kiphakes yes my aunt bought one up to date is perfect..
Hmmm, being the sceptic that I am, wonders how an air fryer, set colder than a conventional fan oven with chips stacked on top of each other and seemingly little room underneath can ever cook anything properly.
They can when the heat is blowing down onto it, my old one did just fine, however this seems to work more like a fan oven..
@@kiphakes Except, fan ovens cook things properly (when set at the right temperature etc). As always, only my opinion, I am not a master chef.
Yes.. I don’t disagree with you..
I recommend Argos Cookworks duel drawer 9 litre viewing windows £100
sent mine back 24hrs after having it horrendous
That's why you have to shake the food so it gets evenly cooked - as in the instructions.
Hi, I’ve got that model too, do you know if you can fit a chicken in it please ? Thank you
Je suis d'accord.
How disappointing. The concept is clever, but it sounds like the execution isn’t there. I’ll stick with my Ninja side-by-side.
Hi it is a fault i had one and sent it back for a refund after four day's.
Mine is brilliant mine cooks evenly it’s a shame your putting this stack air fryer down maybe your not stacking your food properly
You saw the video, how can you stack chips incorrectly? Plus, if you read the comments I’m not alone.
having worked on lots of air fryers the ninja ones are over hyped over priced for what you get the designs are good its the quality and reliability that let them down. people needs to accept if you buy a premium prouduct it needs to be good or if there are issues repaired easy. to many brands relie on people chucking away after a few yeats and buy an new one. good for business cheap out on parts they break buy a new one no need to make quality product
Good it is much slower and less even
Have recently brought one, no problems at all (so far)
Mi it's not your machine I got the same problem
Sounds like Ninja is cutting costs and compromising quality for profit, hope this is not the case and its a genuine fault, you would not expect Ninja to have quality problems.
Ninja should never have put this product on the market given all the negative comments I've seen from anyone who isn't a paid, Amazon received-for-free through Vine program shill.
It clearly has design flaws cooking unevenly front-to-back.
Absolutely agree
the product must be recalled. Uneven cooking is not only inconvenient it's outright dangerous. An unevenly cooked chicken could send people to the hospital. The idea of the product is good, it's a space saver but it's obviously badly designed.
You either have a faulty machine or your just not shaking the food half way through
I literally shake the food in the video. And read the comments.. it’s a common issue
I thought this when i seen the design...
25 minutes for French fries that’s more than double the time my Cosori takes
Ninja Foodie Max is the one to get
Costco’s Gourmia 6.7L Digital Air Fryer is much better than this Ninja Air Fryer and it’s only £49.99
I've got one,it is good
I’m glad you think so.. but the design is flawed. You can’t alter physics 🙌🏻
I had a corsori air fryer. It died after 10months. Had to return it. 🤷🏽
Because there cheaper to run and cook brilliant
@@annrayner4950 No they're not.
I just got one and it is RUBBISH
No other air fryer requires 25 minutes and three or four extreme shakes to cook French fries. This is a garbage product.
@@kiphakes it's not for everyone. Sorry it didn't work out for you and you have to go through the return process.
Dude don’t know how to use an air fryer. 😂. You need to rotate the food more. It works amazing.
It’s an absolute garbage product.. my old airfryer needed one shake of the food.. this requires 4 and still doesn’t cook right.. Loads of people are having this issue, it’s not user error it’s a bad design.
Who are you ???
Ronny Pickering
Got one and it cooks evenly, must be a dodgy one
Read the comments.. plenty of others in a similar position to me
I don’t never follow THE book, the times that it’s given I always put it in 30 or 35 minutes for the chips, if it’s done before the time that I put I just turned it off why do we all expect that to be cooked when even that says 10 10 minutes and we all expect things to be done within five minutes or 10 minutes. I have got ninja too, but not like that one. This looks really cool actually because it’s spacesaving. When it’s not cooking the backside only the front side is cooking. This is definitely have got a problem.
That’s an insane amount of time for chips.. might as well use the oven 😂
@@kiphakes I’m not using whole 30 minutes. I’m just sitting it for longer time just in case if it needs a little bit more time. Plus no thanks for the oven I’m a disabled person
