    I was on trip thru air travel 100+ flights a year for 7 years of my life. I've used up plenty of luggage in my years. I really wanted to like this luggage, and support the idea. My issue, the split down the middle. I don't want to put my bag on the bed of a hotel to spread it open - I don't want to need 1 thing out of the bag and then have to whip that open in a airport.

  • @yayinternets
    @yayinternets 8 днів тому +8

    I think you were just thinking about this from a new stream of income thing rather than actually a product quality point, doing some marketing research, etc.
    These things look so generic. Like there’s nothing interesting about how they look or that stand out other than the patent itself.
    Really should have hired a product designer, and actually looked at what other luggage companies are doing these days. This thing just looks like you browsed AliExpress and pressed “buy”.
    At the price, no one wants something that looks like it was designed in 2003. Maybe some boomer Corvette owners, but otherwise it’s just too generic.

    • @chir0pter

      @ I think many people might know the name samsonite that’s about it. But seeing the endless parade of minutely differing black bags at a carousel, I doubt many purchase based on some distinct branding, they are like me and just go in to a store and pick one.

      @@gavinwinter8757 I know Samsonite because I bought a full size and a carry on many years ago and have travelled many miles with them. Which is why this bag puzzles me because both have adjustable dividers. Both can be differentiated by the selection of different colored luggage straps I've collected over the years, tape, or stickers. I hope it works out, but Rob is spending a bunch of money launching a pretty commodity product into a very crowded market.

    Product designer with Kickstarter experience.
    Unfortunately you totally could’ve gotten away with this if you just presented it differently to Kickstarter. The fact that you are actively taking orders for the bags and they are in production is the whole reason they shut you down. They require a prototype and a video to show that the thing exists, and the Kickstarter is solely to bring it to production. I see your perspective, but from their point of view, it would not make them look good if you were to launch a campaign as you proposed because it presents Kickstarter as a way to sell a fully funded and realized product, i.e. diverting $ from fledgling indie product developers that just needs the capital to get to the next goalpost before production.
    If you bluffed and said you had prototypes but haven’t gone into production yet, then you would’ve probably had an approved campaign.

    • @chir0pter
      @chir0pter 8 днів тому

      This is an improvement on a plastic bag and it seems useful generally. Like what if you have workout/hiking/beach clothes you’d rather keep separate from nice clothes on a trip. Or any other reason you’d rather not root through a whole suitcase filled with items that have two different use cases. Kids clothes vs your clothes. Sales swag vs personal clothing. Idk if I was looking to buy a new carryon seems like a no brainer. Btw sure a plastic bag would work for dirty clothes just like a heap on the floor works for them at home 😂, I would know as I use both

    • @johnnychimpo7539
      @johnnychimpo7539 8 днів тому

      @ the thing that makes the garbage bag or plastic bag superior is the sizing. It can take up no room or I can fill it completely before packing it
      This suitcase limits your amount of clean or dirty clothes. At some point you will have wasted clean or dirty space. And you can toss the garbage bag if it smells. You have to clean the suitcase material at some point
      If you get a new carry, compare this to AWAY suitcases. I love mine, first off it’s a hard suitcase so it’ll last forever. It has a cell phone charger built in that’s also removable
      Maybe robs idea is perfect some people but I don’t see the value over AWAY and it’s not close
