I was on trip thru air travel 100+ flights a year for 7 years of my life. I've used up plenty of luggage in my years. I really wanted to like this luggage, and support the idea. My issue, the split down the middle. I don't want to put my bag on the bed of a hotel to spread it open - I don't want to need 1 thing out of the bag and then have to whip that open in a airport.
I think you were just thinking about this from a new stream of income thing rather than actually a product quality point, doing some marketing research, etc. These things look so generic. Like there’s nothing interesting about how they look or that stand out other than the patent itself. Really should have hired a product designer, and actually looked at what other luggage companies are doing these days. This thing just looks like you browsed AliExpress and pressed “buy”. At the price, no one wants something that looks like it was designed in 2003. Maybe some boomer Corvette owners, but otherwise it’s just too generic.

Product designer with Kickstarter experience. Unfortunately you totally could’ve gotten away with this if you just presented it differently to Kickstarter. The fact that you are actively taking orders for the bags and they are in production is the whole reason they shut you down. They require a prototype and a video to show that the thing exists, and the Kickstarter is solely to bring it to production. I see your perspective, but from their point of view, it would not make them look good if you were to launch a campaign as you proposed because it presents Kickstarter as a way to sell a fully funded and realized product, i.e. diverting $ from fledgling indie product developers that just needs the capital to get to the next goalpost before production. If you bluffed and said you had prototypes but haven’t gone into production yet, then you would’ve probably had an approved campaign.

This is an improvement on a plastic bag and it seems useful generally. Like what if you have workout/hiking/beach clothes you’d rather keep separate from nice clothes on a trip. Or any other reason you’d rather not root through a whole suitcase filled with items that have two different use cases. Kids clothes vs your clothes. Sales swag vs personal clothing. Idk if I was looking to buy a new carryon seems like a no brainer. Btw sure a plastic bag would work for dirty clothes just like a heap on the floor works for them at home 😂, I would know as I use both
@ the thing that makes the garbage bag or plastic bag superior is the sizing. It can take up no room or I can fill it completely before packing it This suitcase limits your amount of clean or dirty clothes. At some point you will have wasted clean or dirty space. And you can toss the garbage bag if it smells. You have to clean the suitcase material at some point If you get a new carry, compare this to AWAY suitcases. I love mine, first off it’s a hard suitcase so it’ll last forever. It has a cell phone charger built in that’s also removable Maybe robs idea is perfect some people but I don’t see the value over AWAY and it’s not close
I just use packing cubes for my clean clothes, and the dirty stuff gets put in the bottom. I’d dry out a swimming suit before putting it in.. something really dirty needs to be washed on the spot or the stain will take hold.
Ive watched Rob show this bag from start to finish and I can’t really see any difference than many other bags. It saying it’s not, or a bad idea, but I don’t see the price justified by anything significant. And honestly, I’d rather see an all black model. I’m not a huge fan of stripes, just my personal preference, it many feel the same way when it comes to their luggage who use them often

That luggage is a neat idea! What is maximum height of the pull out handle? I'm 6'6" and I find that most pull out handles are too short for me to pull comfortably.
A word of advice: before its to late, take the $250,000 and put it in an S&P index fund, making 14%. Rob I like you; you usually have good ideas This is not it. Sir, this is not Tumi or Heartman; this is, from what I can tell, not even hardside luggage. People buy luggage once and use it till the wheels actually do fall off. Keep in mind you can buy a piece of hard-sided Samsanite luggage (who, by the way, have been making luggage for 114 years) and a large zip-lock bag for less than $200 at Macys
Would the Zoom65 approach work for your product? They release their keyboards in batches in a pre-order fashion. I'm guessing partly due to the same obstacles you're encountering. They now have a configurator, but when they started out it was just a couple of choices of colors if I recall correctly.

It probably is an $80 product but it's also a high (physical) volume product being shipped from Thailand into US west coast ports at a time shipping and freight rates are at an all time high. I think an early video mentioned a small number of units per TEU, so sounded like they're being shipped boxed. If they could be shipped flat and boxed in the US, he'd save a lot on shipping and probably warehouse costs.

the bands of color complicate the product why not remove it entirely and focus more on a universally appealing logo that sits up front?
The colored bands make it stand out when looking for it at the airport bag escalator thing. That’s the only advantage I see.
Or if you are tied to the design, make the colored bands removable with strong velcro or other fastener

In the kickstarter plans say it will have a bunch of solar pannels to power the turbo on the luggage. 100% they will approve it then
Make the color panels into removable/replaceable inserts or similar. One color for production and the user can change the color at will.
