Being in Law enforcement I see so many agencies talking about their pay scale to gain recruits. Imo if some of these agencies revamped their uniforms I think that would gain more recruits than pay. Males in our field obviously like wearing a uniform, so I guarantee men would take a 2-3 dollar pay cut to look good in uniform.
An interesting perspective! The power of a well-designed uniform to instill pride and a sense of identity shouldn't be underestimated. It's about the image and the message it conveys to those who wear it and to the community they serve.
The Nazis were adept at using symbols and aesthetics to convey power and instill unity. Their uniforms were designed to project strength, discipline, and a sense of order, which were central to the regime's ideology. The effectiveness of Nazi fashion in communicating these themes contributed to its powerful presence during their peak.
MY ONLY TOUCH ON CLOTHING STYLES AND CONFORMITY WAS DURING MY TIME OF MILITARY SLAVERY 1963/67. I GREW UP ON A FARM AND MY ONLY DESIRE WAS COMFORT AND UTILITY! WHEN LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR ALL DAY FIELD WORK YOU ANTICIPATED WHAT THE WEATHER WAS GOING TO DO, ESPECIALLY IN WINTER TIME! YOU WOULD WEAR YOUR CLOTHING AND OPEN YOUR COAT, ROLL YOUR SLEEVES UP OR DOWN, ACCORDING TO COMFORT CONDITIONS AT THE TIME! IN THE ARMY SOMEONE DETERMINED WHAT HE THOUGHT WE SHOULD WEAR AS UNIFORM OF THE DAY! AND THEN THERE WERE THE WHINERS WHO COMPLAINED OF WRINKLES AND STAINS ON OUR UNIFORMS! AFTER BASIC AND AT OUR RESERVE UNIT I WORKED AS A HEAVY TRUCK MECHANIC AND WAS WRITTEN UP BY ELITIST UPPER RANKING PERSONNEL FOR DIRTY AND GREASY CLOTHES,WHO KNEW NOTHING OF THE WORK I WAS DOING! AS SOON AS MY DAILY DUTY ENDED , BACK INTO MY CIVILIAN CLOTHES AGAIN !! WHEN I FINALLY BAILED OUT I LEFT ALL MY STUFF IN THE SUPPLY ROOM, AND TOOK NOTHING HOME !! IT IS NOT MY JOB TO FEED THE FASHION DESIGNERS , AND THE FASHION POLICE TYPES !!
Glad you got that off your chest after all these decades. Thank you for your service. What you said about a wrinkle or stain was particularly poignant!
Yes, I always noticed how fashion conscious the Nazi's were from the attractive haircuts, basic black uniforms of the SS to the sleek Mercedes cars they drove. It really worked to gain favourable opinions of them. I think it still does, when it comes to good taste which they certainly had.
Indeed, the Nazis were very deliberate in crafting an image of sharpness and modernity through their fashion, vehicles, and overall aesthetic. However, it's crucial to remember that these designs were a facade for the regime's brutal and inhumane actions. While we can analyze the role of design in history, we must do so with the understanding that 'good taste' in this context was a tool for propaganda and manipulation, serving a regime that committed horrific atrocities.
Hugo made but DID NOT design the uniforms!...Big difference...He was merely a contractor...The Nazis already had a published style guide for their uniforms!
Giving the Germans all the credit when in fact Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck were heavily influenced by the styles of the ITALIAN FACISTI MILITIA uniforms!. Give credit where it is due, so many haters on here...
While you have many interesting points, you're overlooking the other imagecrafting that the Nazis did. Much of the SS symbolism, as well as other organizations, was based on ancient Germanic runes and culture. This was to help create a sense of continuity and legend of Germany and Germanic heritage and culture. The only other problens are that the most common German uniform colors were brown and grey/green.The SS wore black to make them distinct. But I don't think anyone wore red, ecluding a few pieces due dress uniform. You make good points about perception and image building. But I'm afraid to say that you need to improve your research.
You're right about the use of Germanic symbols and the color schemes; they played a significant role in the Nazi's identity-building. They should delve deeper into these details for a more comprehensive understanding in future discussions.
To be honest, they were too scared for not getting people on their site and some of they had big insecurites. That being said, their uniforms were solid and are still being used in lot of Hollywood-movies
Yeah, who doesn’t like a fresh cut and nice clothes? All business, they were serious about saving German society from the degeneration imposed on theIr brethren for 15 years….Stand up tall, tuck in, we have a job to do.
You completely missed the point of the boots and jodhpur look. The Guards Units with the cavalry dash has been a fixture of military fashion since the Napoleonic era and was in use by the Russians, British, French and even the Americans, Mexicans and Canadians!. The look survives even today, for example, with Motorcycle Police officers. I call BS on your making mountains out of molehills with this "scare" trope that had nothing to do with the origin which was purely practicality and style/dash. Watch for subtle clues in the Clint Eastwood film "Magnum Force", the Ridley Scott film "The Duellists", or the U.S. Cavalry uniforms of the Indian wars and beyond...Your theory holds no water, Sir, and in fact is near criminal...
Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job making it easier for viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. An additional feature discussing the fashion trends of that era. Actually by polishing up hitler's image in a tailored suite. Helped him to look like a legitimate leader. Making it much easier to defraud his unsuspecting followers.
It's true, the strategic use of fashion and visual presentation played a significant role in shaping Hitler’s public image. The tailored suits, the orchestrated photography-all were carefully designed to project an image of respectability and authority. This wasn't just about style; it was a calculated part of the Nazi propaganda effort to legitimize their leader and, by extension, their ideology. It's a potent example of how visual cues can be employed to manipulate public perception and trust. And as you rightly pointed out, this visual manipulation made it easier for the regime to carry out its deceitful agenda
The video is very interesting and informative till the end. The fact though that in our days we have to repeat again and again that if someone speaks about Nazis, doesn't necessarily mean that he/she supports Nazis, shows that totalitarianism hasn't disappeared. It has just changed it's form.
I find the shaved side haircut particularly interesting because there is a commandment for Jews to not cut the hair from the temple to about halfway down the ear too short. Of course in Germany at the time there were many secular Jews who didn't follow this commandment, but it is an interesting coincidence.
Interesting… a lot of people dont know about this. Now whats really interesting is that this haircut is still in trend among celebrities and footballers in the whole world
Indeed, the irony is quite striking. The fashion choice could be seen as a form of cultural defiance, whether intentional or not. It underscores how diverse and sometimes contradictory human behaviors can be, especially under complex historical circumstances
Hugo made but DID NOT design the uniforms!...Big difference...He was merely a contractor...The Nazis already had a published style guide for their uniforms!
Wooden doors at gas facilities? It doesn't make much of sense. Also the windows lacked of complete hermethicism...and the notsees could gas and cremate several millions of people? Come on, dude, there are better ways to cheat an audience. Btw, notsee imaginery and aesthetics still rock to this very day.
This probably coming from an American who wants to share his sexual views with a child since most of us realize he’s insane. Please feel free to give us your opinion with your name and face behind it, you will never because you know you are in the wrong
As a barber I can say that these haircuts are still trendy. Atleast among footballers
Peaky Blinders

Gosh so you'd love the stylish concentration camp costume, would you?

It's psychological everybody listens to the guy who dresses sharp, speaks well, looks good
Well said.
Hugo Boss made uniforms for the Nazis 😮
Thats true. They manufactured them. As for the design, it was Karl Diebitsh (former nazi) and Walter Heck.
So did hundreds of other companies. Porsche made tanks, but that doesn't stop anyone today from buying one of their cars. Get over it.
Really?
The best designed uniforms so far.
Hugo made but DID NOT design the uniforms!...Big difference...He was merely a contractor...The Nazis already had a published style guide for their uniforms!

They also really put on good shows.

Good reflection!
Mussolini did the same trick by wearing a top hat and full tails when he showed up to take power in front of the Italian government bigwigs...

Easy and engaging way of presenting the content🙌
Thanks for the feedback
Excellent video!!! Most definitely your video echos the idea...... those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it.
Monsters like to look good helps to hide their death wish people can't know there murdering men ,weman ,children, that would spoil their fun shame 😢
No matter what you say about Nazi, they had the best uniforms in the world.
Does anyone know if Hitler designed the uniforms?
According to our information, it was Walter Heck and Karl Diebitsch.
@EducatingGentlemen thanks. I assumed it was Adolph bc he was an artist. Those designers were genius. I'm off to Google them. Thanks again.🙋♀️
Always the snappiest looking people in history.

German animal rights laws were in part connected to jewish cruelty towards animals, so maybe the hairstyle has some meaning as well

HUGO BOSS
That's DIRNDL.
Also notice the obvious absence of beards back then, unlike today's morbid obsession with facial hair. Only bums wore beards then.
Hugo boss. Designed their uniforms. The ultimate classy evil clothes styles.
He did not design them
Just to inform: Hugo Boss manufactured their uniforms.
Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck designed them
@@BeebeMund3 he gets the all the credit
@@michaeldy3157 yeah I can understand. The brand is so big that people are getting confused🤷🏻 is not anyone’s fault

Kraut uniforms were gay...
Not at all. They were designed to terrify. And they did. Gang rap is gay though. Sagging.
Gang rap uniforms? What??
