The bombs were used very late into the conflict as the Japanese fought back very very hard so allot of casualties were caused so something had to be done. Also it was the emperors arrogance and stubbornness that brought it upon themselves the us gave them plenty of chances to surrender and even after the first bomb and the emperor himself saw what it was capable of he still refused to surrender despite the us sending another warning saying we are going to drop another one if you don’t surrender. Not saying that it was right but if it wasn’t for the emperor’s stubbornness and if he just saw it was a losing battle and surrendered those cities or at least only one of them wouldn’t have gotten blown up.
