We're still in South Africa but we wanted to release this video while we are gone. We may be a little delayed in our responses due to the time difference. Enjoy!
LIV - Patrick is so generous with information and his time! But you remind everyone that handicap people must be considered with this technology. Thank you both, for all that you two do!
This is why I love your channel. Being uninformed I always believed that all chargers are similar. Thanks for the education video and am looking forward to the next! 👍💖
I just did my first road trip in my Mach-E two weeks ago. Drove from the San Diego area to San Francisco and back. Charged exclusively at Electrify America in order to use my free kWh. No problems charging at all. Some of them had fairly short cables, so I had to pull pretty close to the charger. I used A Better Route Planner and told it to only select Electrify America chargers. I don't have the update (2022 Job 2), so I only charged to 80% at each stop because it dropped down to about 9kW at 80%. All in all, it was a great trip.
I think very simple informative videos are awesome that you can do! I still get head turners from my mach-e fe and new ev owners asking the basic questions and how-to's as far as charging evs. I really loved your video, especially your special guest, which I won't spoil! 😊
We saw an EV6 outside a restaurant the other day and, when we went inside, it was hard not to want to shout "Who's car is that and can we say hi?!!!?" - Liv
@@MachE_VLOG I finally saw an EV6 Sunday morning...it was driving the opposite direction from me...it's a pretty car and bigger than it looks in pictures and in videos.
As a new Mach-e owner this video is exactly what I’ve been wanting/needing. We are taking our first road trip over range in 9 days so really wanted to understand how to charge at other than Electrify America. Oh and I have the same color 🩵
Damn that blue really pops. Great video, as usual. Thanks for the mural stop...very cool. EV owners who block chargers should be ashamed of themselves. Travel safe!
There's a video coming out tommorrow 3/19/2022 06:30 from FORD about a nationwide FORD charging system. Gee I wonder if Mach E's & Lightnings get 1st dibs LOL
I have had my Mach-e for over an hour but never used any of my charge bundle balance. Is there any tricks to ensuing I’m using that balance vs my charge point account. I haven’t done a long road trip but possibly looking to do that soon so will definitely get that option in the coming months so want to verify if there is a trick to it and test before I head out for longer trip. Thanks for the videos love to see all you all do w your Mach-E.
I can’t get the electricify America to use my free 500kWa. Since we got our Mach E’s I have just gone to a few chargers just to try them out. That grabber blue metallic is so nice both mine are dark matter grey. Have you noticed non ev cars in the parking spots. I heard about this happening to Tesla super chargers. There is chargers at a hospital near us and sever times non ev cars in the spaces.
Congrats on your Mach-E's! The Dark Matter Grey is beautiful! We haven't seen non-EV's parking in EV spots very often and I think that's because they're often in less-convenient spots for the establishment. Like at Walmart, the charging spots are out of the way. But we did see tons of them being taken up at a particular Walmart that had handicap accessible charging spots, so they were very close to the door. It's frustrating! I might consider making notes to pop on people's vehicles when I see that happening. Maybe a little shaming will make a difference. But considering the chargers by you are at a hospital, I might consider contacting the hospital and asking how they police those spots. As a private entity, they may be responsible for enforcing that and perhaps they would be open to defending the space with better signage or the occasional patrol. - Liv
Akron Ohio is 190,000 people know for the rubber industry Firestone BF Goodridge And Goodyear. My uncle worked in Akron, West Africa and Costa Rica for Firestone/Bridgestone from 1975-1994. The pro football hall of fame in canton ohio is a 1/2 south of Akron. Hoover vacuums used to be made in north canton ohio. Also the city of lima in Utah is a sister city of Lima ohio pronounced like lima beans not like the city in Peru. Lima Ohio is in western ohio. In lewis center ohio north of Columbus Ohio they just announced a ev battery manufacturing.
Looks like you haven't had any issues charging like you did at the beginning, which is great news. Love those FREE chargers! That's like pulling into a gas station, and getting free gas. Life is amazing!. You should shame out that Tesla for being charged in a spot when they were not parking. A licence plate number would be sufficient. We can send the ticket in the mail? 🙄🙄
I know right! I know they are slow free chargers....but it's free gas!! Ya the Tesla was definitely a bummer but I kinda wondered if the gas station clerk owned it and then I thought that could be pretty cool if the dude worked at as gas station but owned an EV....and it was parked at the furthest away charger so that felt less offensive...but still. I wouldn't want to shame them publicly...but I probably should have asked them if it was theirs and given them a good talking to if so - Liv
Great video 👍. Have you had your recall done yet? Would definitely love to see a video on your experience from start to finish. I just recounted mine on Facebook yesterday. Dealer used a professional auto glass company (as they should) but took 17 days and someone cut up the front passenger seat in 2 places, so now trying to deal with how they're gonna fix that. But at least I finally got 21p22.
If you listen to the inside EVs podcast, Kyle Connor frequently complains about how plug and charge cannot recognize your EA membership if you have one and automatically charges the standard rate. I believe he said that they are aware of it and possibly working on the solution but last I checked it does not exist yet, so only option is to initiate in the EA app and not use plug and charge if you have the EA membership
I heard they had fixed which is one of the reasons I wanted to give it a try. A friend tried it last weekend and said it finally worked. I'll have to do another test soon.
It depends on the state, but in most it is 31 cents per kWh. So a full charge would be about $27. Mostly on road trips, I charge from about 10 to 80% and that costs about $19. (Some states forbid charging companies from charging per kWh. In those states, they charge per minute of usage which means your cost depends on how fast the car is charges. It is really odd and charging companies are trying to convince states to do away with that.)
Very very nice to watch!! What is your thoughts about finding EV charging station with google maps? It is very very rare that I use Public chargers. One because the hassle of starting the charging unit. Second most public Charger are not in the best places that I have found. Third NONE EV cars in the space meant for EV vehicles. Crazy rude!
Although I do not own an EV (I call Tesla Teasla since I don't have one :) ) I find your channel very interesting with honest reviews too. A question for you - When will we see LIv drive Lucifer?
His shirt says "Anything you can do, I can do Electric" I can put 300 miles of range into my gasoline car, in 2 minutes. How long does it take you to add 300 miles of range?
@@MachE_VLOG You never get the feeling that you might run out from stop to stop? I do drive 170 miles down from PA - DE every two weeks. So I’ve been doing research so that I know I’ll be good to go.
We don't have any long commutes, so charging at home is what we do 99% of the time. But you do have a big, regular commute to consider. I'm sure you've done this, but if you check out your route on A Better Route Planner and PlugShare, you could see if it's a viable option. I'd certainly want a couple good charging options along the way, just to be safe. - Liv
Chargepoint does not own or maintain the chargers like EA. They sell the HW, billing and ancillary services to the charger owner. Their business model is totally different than EA, EVGo. I learned that from InsideEV's podcast.
Except that is not strictly true. ChargePoint owns and operates a good number of DCFC's; they have a whole department that manages them. The ones I know were paid for by CA State programs.
Sometimes they authorize your credit card for a amount if you are not a member but you get the difference back. I have my card setup with chargepoint and ea so I Don’t need to use the card reader. Chargepoint just adds money when I run out. Ea does the same and I just tap my iPhone on the rfid. Symbol to start. No opening the app and swiping or looking for a station number.

So do you got to have all these apps for each one?? that's annoying. It'll be nice if you just pull up and tap to pay and done and no app needed.
You can just use your credit card at most. But you get discounted rates by having the app. It's not a big deal.
