Drive them back to back. Road/wind/engine noise in RAV4 is horrible. I owned 3 previous RAV4’s and was loyal Toyota owner for over 40 years. Test drove a CX5 and CX50 back to back after driving new RAV4. CX5 is soooo much better and much quieter than other 2. Interior finish and style in CX5 much better as well. Also CX5 made in Japan. That is why I bought a CX5 non turbo. Yes the commander function sucks but connect to apple car play and forget about it. Test drive and you will pick the CX5. I am now a loyal CX5 owner.
No comparison at all. I test drove both and Mazda CX5 felt way more solid, quieter, fun to drive, comfortable seats, luxurious feel inside. RAV4 engine was very loud on take off, it sounded as if I was in a large truck. RAV4 also looks like an appliance and interior feel is too utilitarian for my taste. Big plus for CX5 is that it’s built in Japan.
Wife has a 2018 CX-5 and put over 100,000 trouble free miles on it. It’s still like brand new. I had a 2020 RAV4 as a company vehicle for a year. It was OK but so thankless to drive. Compared to the CX-5 it feels like you are driving a refrigerator down the road.
Last summer/fall I looked at both the CX-5 and the RAV4. Trim level for Trim Level you get a nicer car with the CX-5 for less money. If you spec a CX-5 and RAV4 with leather seats, AWD, and Blind Spot Monitoring the MSRP for the CX-5 is 2-3 grand less expensive. When you add the markups the Toyota dealer added (got the Mazda below asking price) the price difference was around $5,000. The Toyota has better back seat space and cargo space and gets better gas mileage. However, I don't have children at home and I can buy a lot of gas for $5,000. Plus, the CX-5 drives way better and has less wind/road noise. So I got the CX-5. It took me about a week to master the dial/buttons for the infotainment and now I wish my other vehicle(with a touchscreen) had the dial/buttons. It is so much easier to flip screens from Google Maps to the Radio/spotify and back with the hot buttons where your hand natural sits than reaching up and touching the screen. My wife primarily drives the CX-5 and the other day I asked her if she still likes it. She said no, she LOVES it.
Exactly! Totally agree. Same conclusion I came to. I picked up a 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium a few weeks ago. The Mazda was nicer overall inside and out, quicker, more fun to drive, less money for more features. Bose stereo is better. Less money for the same or more features and better price. Plus the 0% 60 month financing Mazda was offering in December and January and it was an easy decision. The thousands I saved can buy a lot of gas. So far I love the CX-5. Looks awesome, feels special, fun to drive. The CR-V and Rav4 are good cars and have more passenger and cargo space if you need it but the CX-5 takes it otherwise.
Oldest daughter has a 2023 CX5 and my youngest daughter has a 2022 RAV4 hybrid. Both love them. I have a 4Runner and my wife has a GX460. I try to buy the most reliable vehicles. Big fan of built in Japan.
I have a CX-5, it’s a very fun vehicle to drive. Like above comments I test drove a Rav-4 also, it has too much engine noise. Mine is a naturally aspirated engine, front wheel drive. I am VERY happy with my CX-5.
I'm on my first Mazda (2024 CX-5 Signature Turbo, top trim in the US). My last two vehicles were a 2022 BMW X3 xDrive and a 2020 Rav4 Limited. I can say this for certain...the CX-5 punches a level or two above it's class in performance and fit and finish, comparable to or better than my X3. Since Mazda doesn't have a "premium" brand like Toyota, Honda, Nissan they strive to produce driver-centric vehicles that utilize premium interior materials and dynamic capability on the road...and they do it extremely well! While the passenger and cargo room leave something to be desired for some people, it's inconsequential for me. The CX-5 leaves the Rav4 in the dust, in my opinion.
Wow this is good to know as I'm looking at leasing the 2025 CX-5 Carbon Turbo or Signature trim. I would love to lease the Genesis GV70 2.5T Select, Advanced, or Sport Prestige, but they're too expensive for me at the moment. And I'm also curious to see the facelifted version of the GV70 for the U.S. market & if it will change the feature list by the package for the 2.5T trim
I’ve owned Toyotas for quite a while now, I’ve had a 1994 Toyota 4Runner, a 2001 Toyota Corolla, and now I have a 2012 Prius, my parents also have Toyotas, but I thought it was time for an upgrade, looked at the new RAV4s and I was not impressed one bit, it literally feels like I’m in my Prius😂 so I decided to go a different route and test drive a Subaru forester and a Mazda CX-5 and after driving the cx5 I was so impressed and instantly fell in love with it I left the dealership with a brand new CX-5, i did my research and since I do keep my cars long I am very confident that this new CX-5 will last me a long time
@@mart0225 I test drove 2025 gas hybrid model though it was decent I couldn't justify the price. For hybrid in Canada it was 14k more on top and gas model for similar trim of what we were getting in cx5 was still 4k more.
Loyal Toyota Lexus owner since 1999, however, i went Mazda fornthe first time. Reason is, here in Los Angeles county is pretty much impossible to get your hands on a hybrid model. Waited over 3 months for a Lexus NX 350h, gave us the runaround at Lexus Cerritos and requested 5k over msrp. Took my hard earned money to Mazda Puente Hills where they actually appreciated me as a customer and honored the Costco Auto Program rate (3k off msrp). Until Toyota catches up with availability and begins giving some sort of incentive, 0% financing or money off msrp, I'll be a Mazda owner.
As an outside observer I think a touch screen in a car is just another dangerous distraction a car never needed and doesn't need now. Get off the screen and drive!
Probably in the minority here but I fricken love the knob dial for the infotainment system. Helps me keep my eyes on the road and is pretty intuitive imo. Thats most reviewers largest complaint so other than that my '21 CX-5 is perfect (aside from the mpg)
I'm with you 100%. Why would anybody want to touch screen while driving or even when not driving and rub the grease from your fingers on the screen? The knob rocks for me too!
How? What takes 2-3 clicks sometimes needs 60 rotations of the knob and I have to WATCH THE SCREEN THE WHOLE TIME to see where the cursor went. With touch controls I just look, touch and it's done.
@@EuropeanLord You can change radio stations from the steering wheel, there is a hot button next to the wheel to change the screen from Google Maps to Music and back. And I use Google voice commands (Hey Google, play disco on Spotify) so I rarely have to touch the dial while I'm driving. Even using Waze is easy because to confirm a police car or whatever, all you have to do is press the dial straight down instead of reaching up and touching the screen. The only time I really have to use the menu system with the dial is to change some of the car settings, and nobody should do that while driving anyway.
CX-5 is nice. I’ve had a Signature Turbo for 3 years now. Had an oil burning issue fixed under warranty, but other than that I’ve loved it! I have some slight rattle in the door, but I can’t figure out where. That’s my only complaint lol
I just spent a week in a 2024 CX-5 Signature. Even as a former 2017 CX-5 GT non-turbo owner and current 2019 CX-9 Signature owner, I was impressed with the level of refinement in the vehicle. If the RAV-4 is better than that, then it’s truly special. I doubt it, though. I will gladly take the hit at the pump because the CX-5 is the one here that looks and feels special.
I got 2022 Mazda CX5 Kuro Edition, the best car in the world I would say. It’s been almost two years no issues at all as if brand new that I got from the dealership yesterday although I already have 24K kilometres just few days ago. It’s seamless and the best compared to my previous cars the 2018 Toyota Highlighter and the 2012 Hyundai Sta Fe. 👍👍👍it’s true fun to drive.Zoom Zoom…
I´m a fan of Toyota and Mazda, but comparing the CX-5 with the RAV4 is almost unfair. The CX-5 drives like a BMW, has an interior like an Audi, has a wonderful and smartly engineered engine and especially in the Select trim is an absolute steal at less than 30k USD. Unless you´re into hybrid tech, there´s not even a competition here.
I bought a lipstick and makeup enhanced RAX 4 in a 2023 Lexus NX350 in November 2022. First car I ever bought totally on impulse. I was so excited there was a car without an extra markup! 🙄. It looked pretty good, dark gray, nice black wheels etc. F Sport model. The pluses included very nice (although someone complicated) software technology. The negatives were as follows: Slowwww off the line, noisy (that was a shock), average handling, cramped seating, etc. The minute I took it home I was not happy and it took me a year to realize my mistake and dump the thing. It is too bad that Mazda did not make a new CX-7; they simply took a 9 and pulled the third row seats. I would easily take a loaded up CX-5 over the Toyota. I hope to put off ever getting a four cylinder engine car again. I would not want a PHEV but would consider any car with a regular hybrid (more reliable).
Have a 2013 Mazda CX5 with over 150,000 km and it doesn't have a squeak or rattle. It has been driven through Canadian winter hell with oil changes, coolant change, a battery change and brakes once around. Would also consider a new Rav in the driveway, next car.
Very important review: Two heavy-hitters in the segment. I own both vehicles, albeit in previous generations and i really appreciate the simplistic quality of the Rav4. I can see why it is such high volume seller because it lives up to its identity of just being a practical and comfortable crossover. The drawback from my perspective of the CX5 is that it looks sporty and is an absolute beauty to look at whether parked or in motion but the driving dynamics just dont match up. Another deal-breaker for me with Mazdas is that replacement parts are a pain to source while Toyotas are a breeze. Once again, i disclaim that i am speaking from the standpoint of owning the previous generations.
Great review. CX5 seems to have the overall advantage but for me a RAV4 Prime takes it (warts and all). The ability to do 40+ emiles means only going to a gas station a few times a year. For me, that is time saved. Would love to see a plug-in CX5 or CX50…
OK, what about that A pillar -- do people and cars disappear from view in the CX5? Does the cabin feel confined? Will direct injection engine gunk-up over time? Will the cylinder deactivation become an issue down the road? Will it use oil? Yes, the car is a beauty, and I suppose it will handle well. I loved driving Miatas, some years ago.
A pillar - yes but I'd say not more than other modern cars. Confined - front seats feel very roomy, back row is worse and can feel confined. Gunk - yes. It will need cleaning eventually, redline the engine regularly to slow the buildup down. Some say gasoline additives may help too, not sure. Cylinder deactivation AFAIK is not a problem, unlike with many other manufacturers. Haven't found complains about using oil (I researched the NA engine, not sure about turbo). Yes, it handles so much better than most other CUVs that I can't tolerate other brands now and I never realized I even cared about stuff like "fun to drive".
Limiting touch panel use may be difficult for you but Europe is going to restrict its use in all cars due to safety concerns. Mazda is ahead of safety concerns. Put down the cell phone and touchscreen and drive.
Looked into CX-5, Tucson, RAV4 and finally bought the RAV4. My main concern is reliability. CX-5 uses GDI and GDI is known for carbon buildup, especially with turbo, a big no no for long term reliability. Tucson's 2.5L NA engine has multi port injection but just on paper it is infer to RAV4's engine. Plus Hyundai's track record is quite scary. People complained about RAV4 being noise. What noise? To me it is already a night and day difference over my old 2006 Saturn Vue V6. My new RAV4 has the 10.5" infotainment upgrade. I just love the RAV4's bigger screen over CX-5's narrowed screen format.
Do you have any hard evidence to back up that GDI is unreliable, at least in the Mazda CX-5? I ask because Mazda as a brand, but the CX-5 as well, get high marks for reliability in consumer reports magazine, which is based on surveying actual owners. The CX-5 is in its 8th model year, so they've had time to get all the bugs out and improve on it over time. So I think we'd know if it was a problem by now, as this is probably the safest time to buy it given the facts above. And saying that your new RAV4 is quieter than your 2006 Saturn Vue isn't saying anything, as that's an ancient vehicle, so anything modern is going to be quieter than anything that old no matter what brands were talking about. You need to compare a new RAV4 to a new Mazda CX-5 or similar vehicle for it to be relevant. That's what the reviewer was doing here, and he's even an owner of 2 RAV4s and still said the Mazda CX-5 was quieter.
I was close to getting a CX5 but there were 2 major red flags at the Memphis dealership and a half dozen minor red flags. Also next nearest dealership is 150 miles away so what would I do if the dealership in Memphis closed. At one time Memphis had 3 Mazda dealerships
@@brianbaker359 The salesman and used car manager were trying hard to make a deal with my trades then got shot down by the owner after losing almost a week. Then I decided to sell my trades myself and purchase a CX5. They presented an itemized offer so I went line by line and added it up. The total was 1600$ more than the actual total.
Absence of touch screen, and knob instead, may actually offer unrealized safety since you can’t have your focus on accurately placing your finger (taking eyes off the road) on a screen, and also having to keep leaning forward.
CX5 is a drivers car and those for who enjoy form over function. Probably most suitable for urban commuters. It is also the most beautiful of Japans SUVs. The Forester is the most practical and capable with the best comfort and is most suitable for those who prefer function over form., adventurous people and rural dwellers. RAV sits somewhere between these two.
The CX5 is nice, but too small for large people or folks who want to haul larger items. I'm 6'4 & 260 lbs. & it just didn't fit me. As far as the Forester & Rav4 comparison, that all depends on the trim. We had a Forester Touring and now a RAV4 Limited hybrid & the RAV4 is waaay nicer in the way it drives, seat comfort, & overall quality. Don't get me wrong, I loved our Forester, but the RAV4 is in a whole class above the Forester Touring.
@@jonhansen4745 At the end of the day it does boil down to personal preferences, and there is nothing wrong with that. There are very few vehicles as buttery smooth riding as a Subaru, especially on dirt. The Rav4 is nice but definitely has a more cramped interior. We do use our vehicles in dirt a lot and it doesn't come close to a Forester.
@@jonhansen4745 At your large size I would drive a truck even a midsize and not sacrifice much in mpg. Also easier to get in and out. Wife went with the CX5 but Forester was a strong contender if not for the CVT and it’s lower towing capacity.
Just bought a 24 CX-5 Suna exactly like the one he is driving. Beautifully made, and the turbo 2.5 is wonderful. Also, Toyota can't seem to produce cars in any quantity these days. There are none to be found where I live, so the comparison was moot for me. Spot on review of the CX-5, though.
My local Toyota dealership has virtually no inventory, and the ones they do have are sold at $5K-$10K over MSRP and include extra bullshit dealer $750 add-on stickers for crap no one wants or needs.

@@Gopinathk17A decade ago we could buy a RAV4 with the Highlander's 3.5 V6 engine. The modern equivalent would be the upgraded 2.5 Hybrid powertrain. It would also simplify the manufacturing process for Toyota by allowing them to build just one 2.5 Hybrid system so everyone would win.
maybe a suggestion... in additional to show panel gaps, it would also be interesting to show how door panels are finished where it gets folded in. I found some of the cars are done properly and nicely, and others are not so, for e.g. Tesla.
I just purchaced a cx5 preferred. 0% 36 month financing. Mazda gives so much more than Rav 4 without upgrading. Approx $5000 less than the Rav. I want better MPG, but the lower price and the 0% sealed the deal. Plus, Toyota wanted 5.9% so that would add so much more in overall cost. Great driving vehicle. Would like digital speedometer display
In December 2023 we test drove both these cars, and the Hyundai Tucson. It was for my wife. She loved the interior of the Mazda luxury, the Toyota was not as nice but it was okay, and she disliked the Hyundai. The technology the Toyota was marginally better than the Mazda but the controller did not bother us very much, and the Tucson was the best but we know from reliability data its technology breaks frequently. Last was price. Toyota wanted $1000 over MSRP, Mazda was at MSRP, and so was Hyundai. In January we looked at remaining 2023s and then Mazda was under MSRP, Toyota was still $1000 over MSRP, and Hyundai we did not check (it was out). So we bought the Mazda for $10,000 under MSRP as we found one with 3000 miles which is like new.
I purchased the CX5 turbo carbon and took it back and swapped for the signature. The seats were just too firm in the carbon. I was torn between the the Rav4 hybrid and the CX5, comfort and financial concerns the Rav 4 wins easily. But I enjoy the driving experience which costs much more. Maybe that is being a bit greedy and not too environmentally conscious. The feel of quality that the Mazda offers I can appreciate. For me driving dynamics won me over. One feels like a thoroughbred while the other a nag...but in the long run I'm thinking the Rav 4 is the better tool and more comfortable to sit in. I actually preferred the carbon but couldn't deal with the seats and really would have preferred a new Mazda 6 which I traded my 2018 signature, it was almost perfection and I miss it, the only reason I traded was I needed a AWD.
It really depends on what you need. For instance in Europe you have to take into account that because of the dynamic regulations it will be harder and harder to resale it and also the fear of the taxes on a "non green" alternative is high.I love Mazda as Iove Toyota and Honda because they are the only companies that are trustable as they always have been.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. The CX-5 you could probably get a little under msrp. Not so sure about the RAV 4. You'd probably be lucky to get at msrp. Both engines and transmissions are bulletproof. The CX-5 is funner to daily drive. Even funner with a turbo, but then you could be sacrificing reliability.
@@micd9256 Mazda and --believe it or not--Suzuki have the most enduring paint jobs. I had a 20-year-old dark grey metallic very basic Suzuki 1993 SUV and a 2009 solid black one (SX-4) 14 years old (that was an absolute east in the snow) would still easily polish up to near showroom gloss, not rust whatsoever on either. Suzuki is a very under-rated car in the US and is no longer even sold here or I'd consider one. Some of the super-affordable 2009 sport/tech pkg features including navigation, integrated Apple-play type connectivity, AWD, steering wheel controls for everything were a decade ahead of other Japanese and American, cars! They made the first hatchback-sized genuine SUV, and it is still a collectors' item. I would be curious to see how the newer smallest SUVs compare with Jap/American subcompacts. The Mazda pick-up truck and the Suzuki SUVs were still going strong with VERY few repairs and a perfect paint job when I sold them.
The CX5 is a very well made vehicle, but for me it is too small, rear visibility is not good and the ride is bouncy like the wheelbase is too short. For these reasons, I go with a RAV4, Crv or Forester.
Anyone know if the non-turbo Mazda engine has dual injection (both port and direct)? I like the idea that the back of the valves are being kept clean. I know Ford's 1.5T is that way, and Toyota's Rav4 engine also, as well as Hyundai's 2.5 (which has a very long warranty).
I personally think RAV4 is absolutely overrated. I tried driving one in a dealership just 2 year ago, and found the steering wheel was incredibly hard to manipulate with one hand! At that time, I realized that fame doesn't necessarily mean perfection.

Not being touchable while moving is a safety feature. Ever tried to adjust something while driving in other cars using the center, sometimes partly lowered screens? Missing the icons as the car keeps moving and so does your outflung arm pointing to tiny symbols, your eyes off the road for half a minute. Touchscreens in cars suck. PS: no Mazda driver, nor Toyota yet.
They are very close. Probably would put Mazda with their 2.5 NA Engine + automatic transmision over Honda's small turbo Engine + cvt They tend to use nowadays. Mazdas engine and trans combo Is way More proof tested over the years.
I don"t want a turbo & I don't need an AWD. Unless the CX5 AWD better than others, like a torque vectoring system, I don't want AWD to be standared, forced on me. I would buy a used CX5 nonturbo FWD over a RAV4. New a FWD RAV4 over the CX5 AWD. If your car is fun to drive, your getting tickets!
your opinion is fascinating. I agree with you about the turbo aspect totally but the Awd aspect is something I love being standard. Curious why you prefer front wheel only vs having the Awd drive system… america fights so hard for it might as well give it to them haha.
@@robsrave8156 I don't need AWD. IF you need to replace 1 tire, you have to replace all 4. AWD might be helpful in snow, but so are snow tires. Also it don't snow where I live. Tourque vectoring can takee that 50% & split it between both rear tires or put that 50% on 1 rear tire.

The infotainment system in the CX-5 is a no go for me. It already feels dated. I keep my cars for at least 10 years and in 2034 the non-touch screen is going to feel ancient. I would hav rather just had no screen at all and just plugged my phone into the USB as I do now in my 2011 RAV4. The current RAV4 is just boring and dated as well. I’m going to wait a year or two and see if either of these get updates. You can’t beat Japanese build quality so this is very frustrating for me.
Wouldn't pick the RAV4 because it seems cheaply built inside. Wouldn't consider Mazda, even though beautiful vehicles, since they don't have a hybrid option. I would look at other models.

It's its* class. Get educated.

I’ve owned Toyotas for quite a while now, I’ve had a 1994 Toyota 4Runner, a 2001 Toyota Corolla, and now I have a 2012 Prius, my parents also have Toyotas, but I thought it was time for an upgrade, looked at the new RAV4s and I was not impressed one bit, it literally feels like I’m in my Prius😂 so I decided to go a different route and test drive a Subaru forester and a Mazda CX-5 and after driving the cx5 I was so impressed and instantly fell in love with it I left the dealership with a brand new CX-5, i did my research and since I do keep my cars long I am very confident that this new CX-5 will last me a long time
Test drove the CX 5, rav 4 and crv . Look closely at fit and finish and you will see the CX 5 is the best of the 3 . Bought it and love it.

Tested the CRV CX 5 back to back and the difference was huge. Went with the CX 5
Did you drive the current CRV or the previous generation? Hybrid or gas?
@@mart0225 I test drove 2025 gas hybrid model though it was decent I couldn't justify the price. For hybrid in Canada it was 14k more on top and gas model for similar trim of what we were getting in cx5 was still 4k more.
I drove the CX5 before deciding to go with Rav4. It drove great better than rav4 IMO, however the hybrid option and resale value tipped me to Rav4
That’s very fair! I’m excited for Mazda to implement Toyotas hybrid system into their vehicles!
No up charge Lexus/Toyota Longo
How quiet is the car in between your old Lexus and new Madza?
As an outside observer I think a touch screen in a car is just another dangerous distraction a car never needed and doesn't need now. Get off the screen and drive!
We own a CX-5 and we love it. Fun to drive and a great looking car
Very accurate review, David. I chose a built in Japan Rav4 LE.
No regrets.

I wish the cx5 had a hybrid option. I have a 2013 with a 6 spd manual and love it. Average 32mpg. No problems.
The CX5 got my vote
I´m a fan of Toyota and Mazda, but comparing the CX-5 with the RAV4 is almost unfair. The CX-5 drives like a BMW, has an interior like an Audi, has a wonderful and smartly engineered engine and especially in the Select trim is an absolute steal at less than 30k USD. Unless you´re into hybrid tech, there´s not even a competition here.
You actually read my mind
That’s why the cx5 is better.
How about the utility, mpgs and resale value?
Rav4 HYBRID is a good car, it's quiter, quicker, Excellent mpgs and resale values.
Have a 2013 Mazda CX5 with over 150,000 km and it doesn't have a squeak or rattle. It has been driven through Canadian winter hell with oil changes, coolant change, a battery change and brakes once around. Would also consider a new Rav in the driveway, next car.
I had a 2016 CX5 and it was a rattle bucket, so I sold it 3 years later. I'm looking at the CX 30 and Corolla hatchback now.
Wait until mid of 2025 for the new redesigned Rav4.
Take a moped. You go less at a gas station
What about off-road driving characteristics? Which would handle better?
What are your thoughts regarding the Mazda 2.5 NA engine with cylinder deactivation? Is cylinder deactivation reliable? Thanks.
What were the red flags, vehicle issues, price or dealership trust/tactics?

The salesman and used car manager were trying hard to make a deal with my trades then got shot down by the owner after losing almost a week.

Just bought A cx-50. The Interior is far beyond the Toyota. Very happy so far.
How are you liking those 22 mpgs. lol.

David, It is time for the RAV4 to receive the upgraded 2.5/245 hp Hybrid system seen in other Toyota models. That will end all the debates. 😉
Waiting!
CX-5 is much better SUV than RAV4 , the quality , driving dynamics , nice interior , handling and solid construction are way much better .
100% agree. I can’t believe how quiet our CX-5 is.
90 percent of rav4 being sold in the U.S are built in Canada and they're overpriced. CX5 is a superior vehicle.
maybe a suggestion... in additional to show panel gaps, it would also be interesting to show how door panels are finished where it gets folded in.
Mazda have the most European feel Japanese car 👍👍 . 😊
But CX 5 , have less room back seat . Tight leg room.
I totally agree & the CX-5 has smaller cargo space.
Yes back seat leg room and cargo space is the only advantage of RAV4 IMO, for every other reason I chose the CX-5 as the better vehicle
Rav4 is only better for fuel economy (especially hybrid). Otherwise it's noisy and looks like a monster from a horror movie.😂
I’m still undecided but I think I need to test drive them but I don’t want turbo engine
Why not
Would I want to reset the info system on my pre owned CX5?
Awesome video! Thank you sir!
Thank you for a great video. Does a CX5 2.5L engine have both port & direct fuel injection like RAV4 2.5L engine?
cx-5 direct injection only
I don't think you can go wrong with either.

One thing I don’t like about the Mazda is the paint it’s not up to par
It will hold up. Unlike the thin clear coat and color coat on a Toyota. They age quickly and that clear coat tends to fail after 4 years.
Paint thin on my 22 rav4 chips easy and windshield cracked right away. Other than that great.
Same as mine.... New Zealand chip seal tarmac 😡....this vehicle is built in the Japanese factory
It is a touchscreen when in park , when paired to phone it is touchscreen in motion .

Mazda back seat leg room has been worse than Toyota.
Mazda is definitely a step up from Toyota and Honda in terms of luxury. But as far as reliability I don't think so.
They are very close. Probably would put Mazda with their 2.5 NA Engine + automatic transmision over Honda's small turbo Engine + cvt They tend to use nowadays. Mazdas engine and trans combo Is way More proof tested over the years.

your opinion is fascinating.
The only AWD system I would consider is tourque vectoring. Mazda calls there system i-ACTIV. The discription sounds like a fancy way of discribing a normal AWD system 50% to the rear when needed. Tourque vectoring can takee that 50% & split it between both rear tires or put that 50% on 1 rear tire.
Wow, a Mazda CX-5! Perfect for those who appreciate the charm of a sluggish turbo engine response - because acceleration should always come with a dramatic pause

If there was a better finish inside like the cx5. I would pick rav all day but the cx5 just seems small
Have you test driving its competitors like RAV4, CR-V, Rogue? You will then understand that CX-5 is much more fun to drive.
CX 5 needs a proper touch screen for me personally.
good rewiev as usual , but in this case is very easy to choose. If you want hybrid or not. ciao from italy
Very nice review. I enjoyed your video and you are really charismatic as a person. I will stick with Rav4 though hehe
In the UK Mazdas have a 3 year warranty whilst Toyotas have 10
Wouldn't pick the RAV4 because it seems cheaply built inside. Wouldn't consider Mazda, even though beautiful vehicles, since they don't have a hybrid option. I would look at other models.
The more I see these high-tech distraction machines, the more I like my 2008 CR-V.
The Mazda has soul and personality. The Rav4 seems boring in comparison.
