Sri Lankan cuisine is nothing like Indian food! Sri Lankan food is unique! The ingredients (spices), methods and techniques Sri Lankans use to cook are completely different and unique to any other cuisine in the world!
@from ze paradize Highly likely that Maldivians copied cooking methods from Sri Lanka! There are so many Maldivians in Sri Lanka. They’ve been coming to Sri Lanka for education, healthcare, shopping etc. In a nutshell, the overall Sri Lankan lifestyle is way more superior than in Maldives! So, obviously, Maldivians are copying Sri Lankan recipes because a lot of them love Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and our food!

Sri Lanka is one of the most culturally rich countries in the world. It is home to many different races of people who live in peace and harmony. It is one of the best travel destinations in the world and FYI, most of us are fluent in English. The majority of people are Buddhist as Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country. Also, the 4th lie kind of triggered me....we are an independent, democratic country. I'm a Sri Lankan too. Lots of love. Please don't compare Sri Lanka to India in the future :)

I'm a srilankan. talking about weather my country is the best coz in all around the year any place we have rain. we only have two season like dry and wet. but we are lucky to have rain forest, dry forests, hills, hot springs, sandy beaches etc. so please we are the only country safe but have all gifts of nature. u don't have to visit around the world only this little pearl have everything you want. we are happy to help.

I actually visited Sri Lanka unexpectedly. Visited India and couldn't bear the unhygienic nature there and I couldn't go back because my country closed it's borders. Hence visited SL, I still am in SL people are so different than India,, way more hygienic and civilised . I am learning Buddhism and Sinhalese these days. It's unfortunate that SL is near India. Also I’d like to add a few pointers for any future tourists;
1. Avoid normal tuk tuk rides as much as you can and book yourself an Uber / pickme (yes they do work here guys!!)
2. Try to steer clear from jumping into water bodies that you don’t have any idea about. Always look for a lifeguard around just to assure yourself that you will be saved no matter what.
3. Have an umbrella with you if you can. (You will thank me later, trust me)
4. If you want to get directions to a place, always try to get help from a policeman! They know English well enough to converse and even if they do have a problem understanding, they will at least guide you towards a person who could help you figure your way. It’s much better and trustworthy than getting help from a tuk driver (no offense).

Tamil language isn't came from India, in our history there were two groups called Iyakkar and Naagar who spoke Tamil language and there are lot of proofs we have, and Prince Vijaya and his 700 followers came Ceylon (Srilanka's old name, kind like original name) from Sinhapura tracing descent from the Vanga Kingdom in present day Bengal, India. And they brought Pali, Samashkradha languages to Srilanka, and then day to day that changed as Sinhala language. Srilankan government covering all these history by using Mahavamsha history book to show up the first language of Srilanka is Sinhala, but the truth is the Mahavamsha was written by Sinhala language which is established here later. Srilanka's first organized kingdom rulers were Tamils: Pandukabhayan, Devanambiya Theesan, Moothasivan, Duttagaimunuvan etc, and all were Tamil speaking rulers, but nowadays Srilankan government covered these all as Sinhala rulers and changed their names and some historical incidents according to that! Of course later we had some Sinhala speaking rulers among the country, but that doesnt mean to change the beginning of the history into a lie! :/
And of course these days Srilanka isn't a safest country to visit. Due to corona pandemic, Easter bombings and some foolish rulers, the country went totally down in economy side. :/

We are not Indians. But somany cultural habits we shared with India since thousands of the years. But Sri Lanka was a united country even in the Maurya dynasty. In Ramayana , Mahabharata epic chronicles mentioned about ancient Lanka as a separated kingdom and different people than Indians were living in the island.

If you go outside the city, most families have large lands. They might not earn money categorised under rich or poor. These large lands and richly fertile land allows people to grow their own crops, vegetables and be self sufficient to a big extent.
To put this in context, and i dont mean to offend anyone..
When the Indian Army landed in Northern SL during the civil war, they famously commented as to how all the families had a well for fresh water, land to grow their crops, and toilets located away from the main house.. "and they're STILL fighting, having all necessities"
