Because if I would like to buy it, but I'm from Mexico, and I don't know if it will be possible to order it and have it sent to me. im no engineer but is it possibe to get shells and buttons made of aluminium or titanium? Also would translucent shells and buttons for RGB lighting be achievable? Last request, can the C stick be modded to a full sized thumbstick?
Every once and while when I go on a rant about controllers to a friend or family member this controller always comes back to memory, and makes me sad. We were so close. It's been almost a year now, all I ask is confirmation that it still exists. I hope the current stir ups within Panda changes the chances that this thing has to exist and I hope the people on Panda's Hardware team are doing well, and that the conflict hasn't hurt their spirits.
In another timeline, Dr Alan B wouldn't have single handedly brought down Panda because of his greed with wanting to be the sole tournament circuit for Smash.
This is really incredible. I don't even use gamecube controllers, but I want to buy one of these. I don't think I'd use it, but I just want to reward this kind of innovation and love.
What makes it even cooler to me is that it's fully usable for other games besides Smash. Has all the buttons for other Switch games and can easily be used with PC. Would love to see some cool custom shells.
@@julieg8371 It will work on the Switch as well as PC. Keep in mind that it does not natively come with wireless functionality but there will be a expansion pack that allows for wireless.
You can tell they really love Smash and actually care about the people playing with subpar controllers. I used a PowerA controller GameCube controller and it’s so bad for higher level play. This is honest amazing that they put some much detail and customization options into this Panda controller. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the Tournaments pros end up using this. 👍

Wasn't sold on the Panda controller until I saw the integrated allen wrench. It's just a small but elegant bit of design that speaks volumes about the care that went into this
@@vgrepairs Which is exactly why having one integrated is such a neat bit of customer care. Sure you *could* use the one you got in the 104-piece toolkit from Home Depot but why assume everyone has an Allen key when you can just *give* an Allen key?
I still want this to exist so much. Even on the lowest level, there just aren't any notched modern controllers out today, so this wouldn't just be the optimal smash controller but also such a good one for everyday use.
This is the most needed thing imo. It would be so easy for Nintendo to make a quality controller again, but they don't. Now that someone who actually cares have gotten their hands on it, we can finally have good controllers. Thanks Panda!

I'm into this simply due to the fact that this thing seems like the kind of controller that I could continue using on my switch and PC well into the future thanks to how easy it seems to perform minor repairs. Really cool stuff, I hope to see this come to market!

I hope they take the Big Brain Design Choice: make the controller durable enough to survive accidental drops, but weak enough that it gets smashed when you throw it against the ground. So, when you inevitably spike your controller like a dummy, you’ll get to pay Panda another $90 AND you’ll feel stupid. Just think twice before you throw it, my guy.

@@pandabeanLong story short, VGBC Smash World tour got shut down by Nintendo, VGBC largely implicated Panda's CEO in being responsible for it. The backlash led to the CEO and most of the talent jumping ship till they were left with a skeleton crew that got laid off early this year.

Man I was so excited for this. I was having a lot of difficulty with the B0xx and was looking forward to a good GC controller. I got an Ultimate controller and there’s so much SnapBack that running, jumping, and letting go of forward makes me turn around when I do neutral be… every time. Can’t laser without turning around, can’t do aerial needles, etc.
He's right about it being hard to find a good controller. I got the smash controller on launch of Ultimate and it was perfect until june of this year. I had brought 2 new controllers off amazon and they both lasted until last month 😪.

Still can’t understand how $90 is considered expensive. Most custom controllers cost nearly 3-4x more than what they’re offering. It’s a steal for anyone wanting to get into smash competitively. I can definitely see myself getting into melee because of this

I wonder how things are going over there at Panda. It's now been officially over a year since this Kickstarter was cancelled and I actually reached out to Alan via email about this when it happened. Basically, when this was cancelled, he was talking about being "primarily focused on a capital raise for our parent company of Panda Entertainment in order to fund PGhardware's future endeavors" and that "we have some exciting things we're developing in the extra time we have now so we'll be certainly keeping busy on our end!" I'm not sure how much of that was marketing hype and how much was really going on (or both), but with a year passing and literally NO new communication on this, either a) things aren't progressing for this controller in any meaningful way and could be scrapped if things don't progress the way that they need to or b) things are progressing, they got the investment capital that they needed, and are simply finding the right time to announce and release this. At any rate, we don't seem to be any closer to the ULTIMATE GameCube controller being release (at least from the outside), and with the aforementioned lack of ANY communication literally over ONE YEAR later, I'm starting to wonder how this is going to turn out. I keep hoping, but, hey, at least I have Retro Fighters' Battler GC controller to (hopefully) fill this GOOD modern GameCube controller void until/if this thing ever sees the light of day. Although, funny enough, that's been delayed, too, due to manufacturing issues being worked out, but at least my order for each color never got cancelled and production has ACTUALLY been happening...
I saw SamuraiPanda take apart a standard Gamecube controller in 2008, and I admired how much he knew the hardware in and out back then. Now to see what he's done with that knowledge is just amazing. Show Me Your News!

This is mindblowing. The back buttons alone are absolutely game changing, but holy shit the customization options are insane. Not just for smash either - for any game. This looks like the ideal controller design
Curious if the gyroscope will work well on the Switch with all of the metal on this controller. Things like metal tables and metal stick mods for the Switch Pro Controller make gyroscope controls very unresponsive in games like Splatoon. Would be life changing for splatoon players to have a responsive gyroscope lol

Have you guys considered using Hall Effect (i.e. magnet sensing) sticks instead of potentiometer sticks, or do you have a manufacturing partner that could make replacements for the controller? This would directly combat stick drift, given no friction on the sensors, on top of generally being more precise/accurate, and would extend the life of the controller. I have had enough of my joy cons and pro controller drifting after a while; it is inevitable. I haven't put half as much time into my gulikit controller as my first party nintendo ones, but the difference is noticeable for me on responsiveness/sensitivity. A deadzone adjustment would help (and I think is what the "sensitivity adjustment" is?) but that is already something the Panda controller is sure to have! Last question: actually this may or not be relevant given it was about the stretch goal but how "tactile" is tactile button options? Pro controller button type or 3ds/joycon microswitch button type? I would hope the latter. Here's hoping it gets true HD rumble and that development continues smoothly so I can back this again, cheers!
I think what excites me about this more than anything is this frees up the original GameCube controllers for collectors and others who have nostalgic attachments to them
I would have wanted a stick on/off switch instead of/as well as a dpad on/off switch, and also hopefully you could customize the face buttons to match standard ps/xbox configuration, so that this controller can potentially be used for all fighting games. I'll pick it up for christmas to see how it does, looking forward to how far it will go.
With the button remapping that panda releases, they could potentially allow you to have the switch turn the stick off instead of d-pad (unless its a physical switch which might be the case)
I just bought a wireless “GameCube” controller for my switch two months ago from GameStop. The down direction is already sticking and I find myself spot-dodging 3 times in a row in Smash without touching the stick. I will be buying this. Thank you.
Now I can wave dash in melee without my controller deciding that it wants to hold shield when I hit the ground and start air dodging and rolling for some reason
The only thing I'm left wondering is whether or not I can remove the GCC A/B/X/Y layout for the more modern pro-controller layouts. I'm confident they'll add it down the line, but as of now I can't convince myself to spend $90 until I know I'm getting what I'm personally looking for. Overall this is absolutely incredible and I hope this gets the acknowledgement and support it deserves! Thank you Panda for all you do!
In order to switch to a diamond button layout it requires a whole new motherboard, shells, buttons, etc. and would have to be a whole new controller! We’re looking into it but it will take some time to get there 😅
I must ask, does this have any way to work with an original GC? I love the idea, but as a retro gamer It’s to tough to not acknowledge the faults of old hardware, and a compatible revision would be an absolute godsend! If not, is a conversion cable in the works if not available already from you or a third party?
I never thought I'd say that this is almost too much for a controller lol.The amount of tinkering/removing/adding etc is overwhelming. They would need to do a full tutorial from a pro smash player to go over each feature in depth to really maximize grabbing more casual players.I would buy this and need to watch lot of UA-cam and do a lot of tinkering to max potential but this is a crazy step in pro controllers. Super excited
because it's programmable, itd be really cool to have an expansion pack that you can tinker with and program yourself, so we don't need to tinker with raspberry pi's to do TAS or training mode testing stuff. I understand how it would be bad in tournaments, so make the expansion pack for the programmable pack a very different color or atheistic, so it can't be used in tournaments, but can still be utilized by us who like to do TAS testing.
Would have paid a fortune for a pro variant of the GameCube controller. I 100% would have used this not just for GameCube games but my whole pc collection in general, too bad Panda is run by Alan and this is never going to see the light of day
I might get this not for smash but for retro gaming. The fact you can have a pro controller type layout and shell with a gamecube connector makes it great for playing gamecube and GBA games

I REALLY want button remapping for Melee and other games, but rear buttons for X and Y are the next best thing. Love what you guys are doing with this.

I wonder how things are going over there at Panda. It's now been officially over a year since this Kickstarter was cancelled and I actually reached out to Alan via email about this when it happened. Basically, when this was cancelled, he was talking about being "primarily focused on a capital raise for our parent company of Panda Entertainment in order to fund PGhardware's future endeavors" and that "we have some exciting things we're developing in the extra time we have now so we'll be certainly keeping busy on our end!"
I'm not sure how much of that was marketing hype and how much was really going on (or both), but with a year passing and literally NO new communication on this, either a) things aren't progressing for this controller in any meaningful way and could be scrapped if things don't progress the way that they need to or b) things are progressing, they got the investment capital that they needed, and are simply finding the right time to announce and release this.
At any rate, we don't seem to be any closer to the ULTIMATE GameCube controller being release (at least from the outside), and with the aforementioned lack of ANY communication literally over ONE YEAR later, I'm starting to wonder how this is going to turn out. I keep hoping, but, hey, at least I have Retro Fighters' Battler GC controller to (hopefully) fill this GOOD modern GameCube controller void until/if this thing ever sees the light of day. Although, funny enough, that's been delayed, too, due to manufacturing issues being worked out, but at least my order for each color never got cancelled and production has ACTUALLY been happening...
I saw SamuraiPanda take apart a standard Gamecube controller in 2008, and I admired how much he knew the hardware in and out back then. Now to see what he's done with that knowledge is just amazing. Show Me Your News!

When i got my pre order refunded for this, i was absolutely crushed. I've never anticipated something so hard to be left empty in the end. I would love to at least come across a testing prototype for any amount of money

Curious if the gyroscope will work well on the Switch with all of the metal on this controller. Things like metal tables and metal stick mods for the Switch Pro Controller make gyroscope controls very unresponsive in games like Splatoon. Would be life changing for splatoon players to have a responsive gyroscope lol

Have you guys considered using Hall Effect (i.e. magnet sensing) sticks instead of potentiometer sticks, or do you have a manufacturing partner that could make replacements for the controller? This would directly combat stick drift, given no friction on the sensors, on top of generally being more precise/accurate, and would extend the life of the controller. I have had enough of my joy cons and pro controller drifting after a while; it is inevitable.
I haven't put half as much time into my gulikit controller as my first party nintendo ones, but the difference is noticeable for me on responsiveness/sensitivity. A deadzone adjustment would help (and I think is what the "sensitivity adjustment" is?) but that is already something the Panda controller is sure to have!
Last question: actually this may or not be relevant given it was about the stretch goal but how "tactile" is tactile button options? Pro controller button type or 3ds/joycon microswitch button type? I would hope the latter.
Here's hoping it gets true HD rumble and that development continues smoothly so I can back this again, cheers!
I think what excites me about this more than anything is this frees up the original GameCube controllers for collectors and others who have nostalgic attachments to them

I would have wanted a stick on/off switch instead of/as well as a dpad on/off switch, and also hopefully you could customize the face buttons to match standard ps/xbox configuration, so that this controller can potentially be used for all fighting games. I'll pick it up for christmas to see how it does, looking forward to how far it will go.
With the button remapping that panda releases, they could potentially allow you to have the switch turn the stick off instead of d-pad (unless its a physical switch which might be the case)

Clickable sticks and modern shoulder buttons made me happy 😄 in my opinion the gamecube controller design is my favorite controller to date.
I just bought a wireless “GameCube” controller for my switch two months ago from GameStop. The down direction is already sticking and I find myself spot-dodging 3 times in a row in Smash without touching the stick.
I will be buying this. Thank you.
Now I can wave dash in melee without my controller deciding that it wants to hold shield when I hit the ground and start air dodging and rolling for some reason

The only thing I'm left wondering is whether or not I can remove the GCC A/B/X/Y layout for the more modern pro-controller layouts. I'm confident they'll add it down the line, but as of now I can't convince myself to spend $90 until I know I'm getting what I'm personally looking for.

In order to switch to a diamond button layout it requires a whole new motherboard, shells, buttons, etc. and would have to be a whole new controller!

I must ask, does this have any way to work with an original GC? I love the idea, but as a retro gamer It’s to tough to not acknowledge the faults of old hardware, and a compatible revision would be an absolute godsend! If not, is a conversion cable in the works if not available already from you or a third party?
Yes, it comes with a USB-C to GC cable as well as a USB-C to USB cable and works for the GameCube out of the box :)

I never thought I'd say that this is almost too much for a controller lol.The amount of tinkering/removing/adding etc is overwhelming. They would need to do a full tutorial from a pro smash player to go over each feature in depth to really maximize grabbing more casual players.I would buy this and need to watch lot of UA-cam and do a lot of tinkering to max potential but this is a crazy step in pro controllers. Super excited

because it's programmable, itd be really cool to have an expansion pack that you can tinker with and program yourself, so we don't need to tinker with raspberry pi's to do TAS or training mode testing stuff. I understand how it would be bad in tournaments, so make the expansion pack for the programmable pack a very different color or atheistic, so it can't be used in tournaments, but can still be utilized by us who like to do TAS testing.

I might get this not for smash but for retro gaming. The fact you can have a pro controller type layout and shell with a gamecube connector makes it great for playing gamecube and GBA games

They did say that they’re mapped to X and Y by default so I’m assuming that you will be able to remap them to whatever you prefer.
@@TERPormf at the end of the video, they mentioned they might add custom mappings with a future firmware update, but they want to keep it tournament legal. So it's more a question of whether the community will allow it.
nvm, the 600,000 unlock (it's almost at 900,000 rn lol) on kickstarter says they will add full button remaps, so it will have it eventually.
