I would love to see an in-depth video on Gigantic. I had so much fun with Rampage Edition, but it was clearly doomed from the start. The unclear part is why. Was it just a cash grab? Or was it only abandoned after the rocky start? I don't know and won't claim too. But I would love to find out.
Every time for the past 4 years I would leave myself a little note in each of these videos, hoping that I could look at them, and see myself and the person I became. Cool video
I remember being really excited for Shatterline to release, but when it did, I was on 100000000 ping because there was no Australian servers. I had to connect to the American servers from the other side of the world
Shatterline would have been a fantastic game I remember following it vividly. I honestly think at some point they need to attempt to bring it back, if it wasn’t for that invasion the game would definitely have been alive
Ark survival, the whole franchise needs a mention or a whole video about its downfall, the devs constant lies, the delays, the abandonment of the original game for a rushed remaster that no one plays, it's crazy how something that was consistently in the top 10-15 steam games got shot in the foot by its own devs and no one talks about it.
I've been involved with the cycle since the alpha of the very first version back in 2019, and I was really sad to see the game go. While you mentioned one of the main reasons, cheaters were more of a thing that started a very unfortunate series of events. Basically, development got slowed down to get as many people working on the cheater problem as possible. They fixed it well mind you, got a new anticheat, implemented gear refunds (you will get back items that you lost to cheaters) and season 2 was (from my experience) almost without cheaters, and even if you met any, you'd get your stuff back. Sadly, because most people were working on the cheater problem, other aspects of the game got left with less attention. Things weren't developed properly, implemented with patchwork solutions. Basically, Yager built up something called technical debt. Imagine you're trying to build a house, but while building the foundation, you run out of workers and have to make do with ducttape. It kind of holds together, but anything you build on top will be unstable. The Cycle was built with spaghetti code held together by "abstract ducttape" and any new additions they wanted to make were slowed down by a faulty game foundation. On top of that, add drama within the community that led to Yager communicating less and less and the final nail in the coffin, which, ironically enough, turned out to be Roblox. Roblox bought Hyperion, the anti-cheay Yager was working with, and with that, the cheaters returned late in season 3. It was really sad to see the game go. I've had the pleasure of playtesting stuff, sitting inside voice calls with the devs and talking about the game, their vision and sharing ideas/feedback. There really was a passion and a lot of talented people behind that project. It was really sad to see it go, and I hope their next game will share the cycles amazing art and atmosphere. Anyways, I gotta finish writing this so I can continue watching the video. Haaave fun!
Hi! I am a BIG fan of the game's first version when it was mostly focused on completing missions instead of being loot in general Which version of the game did you prefer? Like I mentioned, the first version of the game felt best for me as it didn't have the large consequence of losing everything like in most extract shooters, but while having a similar vibe
@SnesySnas I liked both honestly. The first one was amazing because of the on-the-fly thinking and strategies. Sure the gameplay wasn't as intuitive as most games but once it began to click, it was amazing. But I have to admit that the first game didn't have the atmosphere or the mystery of the second one. The locations themselves didn't really play a big role apart from the evacs, and buildings or interiors were basically non existed. The frontier version did so much for the world. Frontier also created a lot of stories. There's a lot of crazy runs where I've met other people and something weird happened that I'll remember for a long time. Those things weren't as impactful in the old version. Oh and also, I think the frontier version had much more potential in terms of updates. There was only so much you could add to the old game, because it had an existing gameplay loop. The second one had way more freedom to experiment (like they did with the forge). It's a shame that thr freedom they had with Frontier never got used, because some of the ideas they had for the future were really great. Also, I'm ranting again, sorry for the long messages but it's been 6 months since someone mentioned thr cycle again :)
I'll never forget the dev's of the Cycle and Spellbreak. I followed these games before they even released and in their prime I had a ton of fun playing. I understand The Cycle tried to compete with Tarkov but Spellbreak had NO EXCUSE to fumble so damn hard. RIP to both of these games. You will be missed (im currently studying game development and I might make a better Spellbreak if nobody alse tries in the future. Mark my words)
6:47 note on the apex mobile one. The game assets are being recycled for a different game made by tencent called "High Energy Heroes" so if there is people who still wish to play a mobile apex, look forward to that releasing
I picked up the cycle when it was just at its beginning. It was originally a battle royal type game with in-game events and relied on completing objectives to get money and buy better guns from a shop that you could access at any time. This (In my opinion) was the better version of the cycle as it gave a breath of fresh air to the genre with most interactions happening between players and the environment. It might also have been the community as when meeting most players people would team up with the proximity chat. It is important to mention a thriving ranked system with multiple guides and updates throughout its roughly 2-3 year(maybe less idk) existence. Then when it got revamped into a Tarcov-like extraction-based shooter it still had that same whimsical appeal but with higher stakes. This made it interesting and fun with continuous updates throughout its shorter life of just over a year. The problem I found was obv the hackers, servers and whatnot but also the grind and scaring of new players as the community had seemed to lose that friendliness as seen in the game before. Just to add that friendliness was still there because every time I was killed, I would always hear over mic "Sorry dude it's for a mission" at least we got an explanation.
I played it on Xbox gamepass and didn’t beat it but I also have a couple friends who bought the game and just like you didn’t beat it 😂 it was way to bland
We really need another anthem video. Now ik what ur thinking when u hear about this game. But I'm not gonna lie I picked this up a week ago and I'm having the time of my life idk why it just feels good. Sure it lacks story but it's gameplay is just something else. Wpuld love to see a Anthem video man
Still hop on shatterline sometimes by myself, but because it took me 72 hours to get level 5 weapons an none of my friends want to put that time into a small inconsistently updated game. It's not a "main" game to play.
A dead/dying game that I think you missed is Omega Strikers. The dev team said they're pretty much they aren't planning on doing much more than lifesupport for it as they move onto other projects set in the same universe. Really fun game, but I got into it right at the end of it so I'm kinda sad about that.
ngl i loved the cycle. the video you did on it summarizes it pretty well. while i was never good at it or anything, the situational feeling u get from extraction games is just so exciting, idk what the braindead mainstream trend shit is saying but personally im totally here for the extraction shooter surge, if its still happening (cant wait for marathon)
6:49 I came back to this game around when season 5 came out only to see 343 stop doing seasons entirely or produce any new content that isn’t a shop update months later. Frankly its funny and heartbreaking to see that this game died twice
One of the main problems with Apex legends was that they always had events you didnt wanna miss out on. the game was overwhelming, you always felt like you might miss out on something for taking a break
@@Deisty I don’t think it will be up there for a while. It’s a unique game and I assure you if bigger games like CoD multiplayers and warzone don’t get cured of their problems people are gonna flood to something else but if Black ops 6 or any new fps game any good the level of popularity will prob be the same as it is now.
I bought Starfield and enjoyed it. I "replayed" it twice. I love the atmosphere and aesthetic of the game. Seeing Beth updates it once in a while, I'm hoping they'd drop a huge one soon and I'll start playing again.
I liked the cycle more when it was a weird hybrid between battle royale and extraction shooter where everyone started with a pistol and you had to call in better weapons and gadgets and the winner was whoever completed the most objectives while still surviving. I feel like they could have carved out a niche cuz the wait times for matches was under 5 minutes with minimal cheaters.
I played Shatterline very recently, and it was so much fun! However all my friends got bored much quicker than I did, and all migrated to Overwatch 2 (questionable decision imo) I didn't follow them, and occasionally we now play Trailmakers together just like we did before discovering Shatterline. On a completely unrelated note, I think the ingame lore mirrors what happened to Fraglab scarily well, doesn't it?
I recently picked up Gigantic: Rampage Edition, when it launched on console, and honestly, it's been a blast to play. All the characters are unique and have their own set of abilities, the combat and gameplay is fast, and cosmetics and skins can be earned through player progression and in-game currency. I honestly do hope the game keeps kicking. Although, one of the only downsides is the matching making is kinda bugged at times...
Shatterline was the only fun ive had in a competitive pvp fps, and the only one i genuinely played when my friends weren't online. It sucks that it shut down.
The death of the cycle was that the game changed so much from the alpha. Before It was a PvEvP Battle royale: you had your mission like extract material, kill zone bosses, capture PoI, ecc... ( Killing players gave points too but very Little). It also had a lot of cool features (like forming temporary squad with a random in solo mode at the cost of having less health and splitting the rewards). Than he tried to became the next tarkov, losing a lot of his players base. Such a shame
I played a ton of The Cycle : Frontier and from a constant players perspective the beginning of the downfall was that (if you were good enough) you could just kill players who had endgame weapons and gear with "uncommon" SMGs so a lot of the player base quit with this low risk high reward strategy Era that many people used. After that it just ended with the cheater incident due to the game having this problem of a low player base so the cheaters would use it as a playground with no backlash, but when that backlash came the game was already dead + It being a free to play with in-game purchases was its main downfall from the start as a Extraction-Shooter. There was also the incident between the youtuber Tickle Me Pink and the developers of the game.
Also important to remember that the company who worked on apex mobile just stole all the code after they sunset the main version and then just made their own version which was basically the exact same thing
I bought Starfield, and have played through the entire main story. I then started NG+ right when I finished the main story, but then stopped playing once I realized none of my guns or resources or anything carries over to NG+. Pretty much the only thing that does are your skills. But I was so excited, I just got two dope guns from the final boss fight, and I couldn’t wait to use them throughout my NG+ playthrough, but nope, can’t use anything I had before.
Think a large part of why so many solid games seem to be dying is this: people just don’t have the time to play everything. The games industry is bigger than ever but let’s be honest you can only have so many favorite games that you go back to every week.
I recommend checking out "Them's fightin' herds" its a really cool pvp fighting game inspired by mlp. It had a story mode campagin as well, but it only had one chapter with the promise of a lot more. But after a while (around a year ago) they announced that they were ending development on the game, and the future story mode chapters werent coming. Barely any players now. Not sure how long the servers will stay open.

I would love to see an in-depth video on Gigantic. I had so much fun with Rampage Edition, but it was clearly doomed from the start. The unclear part is why. Was it just a cash grab? Or was it only abandoned after the rocky start? I don't know and won't claim too. But I would love to find out.
Dr Disrespect's game... Yeah... We know how that will go.
Every time for the past 4 years I would leave myself a little note in each of these videos, hoping that I could look at them, and see myself and the person I became. Cool video
That is a very smart thing to do, nice.
Sick (In a good way)
im really sad about the cycle frontier. I loved it.
I remember being really excited for Shatterline to release, but when it did, I was on 100000000 ping because there was no Australian servers. I had to connect to the American servers from the other side of the world
Ant time macro brings up hyperscape or titanfall 2 it's like an American hearing a 9/12 joke....it's too soon
It's been 23 years. Its not too soon man
Shatterline would have been a fantastic game I remember following it vividly. I honestly think at some point they need to attempt to bring it back, if it wasn’t for that invasion the game would definitely have been alive
Battlebit AINT GOIN ANYWHERE‼️
Ark survival, the whole franchise needs a mention or a whole video about its downfall, the devs constant lies, the delays, the abandonment of the original game for a rushed remaster that no one plays, it's crazy how something that was consistently in the top 10-15 steam games got shot in the foot by its own devs and no one talks about it.
feel bad for shtterline it was fun but you forgot to put normal apex in here for like the 4th year in a row bro your slipping man
RIP shatter, used to be so fun. Sad to see poor decisions lead to its downfall
Haaave fun!
Hi! I am a BIG fan of the game's first version when it was mostly focused on completing missions instead of being loot in general
Which version of the game did you prefer?
You will be missed
(im currently studying game development and I might make a better Spellbreak if nobody alse tries in the future. Mark my words)
Shatterline doesn’t deserve to be in this list. It’s not even out on console yet.
6:47 note on the apex mobile one. The game assets are being recycled for a different game made by tencent called "High Energy Heroes" so if there is people who still wish to play a mobile apex, look forward to that releasing
Ow2 is actually on a upward trajectory right now!
Fr it's huge and always will be it's a great game
As a big finals fan I really hope it'll stay alive, but I doubt it sadly :(
I remember watching this guy ages agoooo glad to see his content is still as good
I did buy starfield, no I did not beat it
I played it on Xbox gamepass and didn’t beat it but I also have a couple friends who bought the game and just like you didn’t beat it 😂 it was way to bland
@@josephbarnes24 fr
We really need another anthem video. Now ik what ur thinking when u hear about this game. But I'm not gonna lie I picked this up a week ago and I'm having the time of my life idk why it just feels good. Sure it lacks story but it's gameplay is just something else. Wpuld love to see a Anthem video man
1 min and 0 views. Bro, fell off.
11 minutes and 0 likes…. You fell off bro
I was going to roast him but I see there is no need
25 subs in 10 years. You definitely feel off lil bro.
Ok
Boo hoo 😢 cry about it
I’m so scared that the finals will die it’s revived my interest in fps games
This is my worry as well icl but I think if they keep adding more content and updates it will be fine
I will do -1 push-ups for every like this gets
I disliked, I want the pushup every day for a month
I don't want to see the finals one day on this list it's so fun to play with friends
That’s crazy that it’s been four years I still feel new to the channel community
I really hope that Shatterline can come back, as I genuinely really liked the game. Really hope the best for all that worked on it.
I feel bad for shatter line cuz it was really cool and had potential but it's not their fault what happened. Unfortunate state of affairs
dr disrespect and marathon damn well this aged well
I bought Starfield and enjoyed it. I "replayed" it twice. I love the atmosphere and aesthetic of the game. Seeing Beth updates it once in a while, I'm hoping they'd drop a huge one soon and I'll start playing again.
The cycle frontier did come out in a full release but was only out for like a year
The finals better fucking survive because they are the first ever game to actually honor the beauty of ridiculous reload animations
Overwatch 2, beter naming would be overwatch -1, as we lost 1 player on the teams
I playing Starfield right now. I didn't beat it, but i come back to this game to play it for a few days and then stop for a while
I liked the cycle more when it was a weird hybrid between battle royale and extraction shooter where everyone started with a pistol and you had to call in better weapons and gadgets and the winner was whoever completed the most objectives while still surviving.
The Final will last for long like PUBG, not strong, but enough players to keep it alive, it always receive big update every new season
Shatterline was so good unfortunate situation really
I recently picked up Gigantic: Rampage Edition, when it launched on console, and honestly, it's been a blast to play. All the characters are unique and have their own set of abilities, the combat and gameplay is fast, and cosmetics and skins can be earned through player progression and in-game currency. I honestly do hope the game keeps kicking. Although, one of the only downsides is the matching making is kinda bugged at times...
I bought Starfield, beat it, and replayed it over 5 times. I love the genre, gameplay, and space travel, which you don't get enough of in gaming.
i really hope more people give gigantic a try, its really fun. hopefully a big streamer gives it a shot and likes it or something
A series about games that will never die would be nice. Fortnite or league for example
Moooooore, me and my team are busy making a big game and we need more vids like this to make sure we don't make the same mistake too 😉
Also important to remember that the company who worked on apex mobile just stole all the code after they sunset the main version and then just made their own version which was basically the exact same thing
thats not what happened tho.....ea killed apex m
@@lilfeccibraemusic where did I say they didn't?
your intro reminded me that I had popcorn. thanks.
might have been covered in a previous video but another "reborn" game is Worlds Adrift
I love the power shift mode in the finals it made me play it again because my friend is 5 people so there would always be 2 left out
Gigantic is making a comeback. Although, I'd love for wizardry online to be back
personally i feel like everyone from battle bit migrated over to helldivers.
Its sad that games die so fast nowadays speaking of dead games you should cover palworld
This channel ain’t dead it’s going great you got a thousand likes in 30 minutes bro
Please cover Gigantic if it comes back! I loved the game when i was younger and am so sad it died and I want to see it returne and succeed.
