    Great side by side comparison! It is impossible to match them up accurately at the individual dealers. This is very helpful. We are looking into them now. This was awesome! Thank you!

    Hi, we run a landscaping company Southern Michigan, awesome new trailer. Look at the welds on the diamond. That says it all they take pride in what they build. I bought a couple local trailer last year, they are pretty good better then your old one, but nothing like that diamond.

    My neighbors sure Trac did exact same thing, the hanger breaking off carrying a bobcat 27 mini was the final straw. And really only used it for that too

      They seem to need additional support on the hangers for sure, but I think the side loading created by the fat 16” tires is the root of the problem

    Thank you for the comparison. I thought for sure I would be getting a Sure-Trac but now I’m leaning towards Diamond-C. 👍🏻

    Just pray you never need any other service from Beck's trailer. I will never shop there again. I live very close however I will go to Grandville trailer to get my new Diamond C. I purchased a new dump trailer from them and the very next day the pump failed, Beck's said I would get it back in about 3 months and the service manager acted like he wanted to fight me. We called the manufacturer of the trailer, they put us in touch with the pump manufacturer and they sent me a new pump which I installed myself.

    The ramp door becomes hard to open after a few years. But way better then the sure Trac.. should have gotten the HD v tongue toolbox lid.

    I'm from New York and I'm looking to go to New Jersey talked to a guy 7 by 14 high wall dump trailer made by Big Tex and also upstate New York route 145 Frank Hitchcock Road Cairo New York there's a big trailer place but I'm getting prices around $11k but I'm also paying cash so everyone I said they can do a lot better price going to use it for construction debris. Question what do you think about the Big Tex dump trailers and also what do you prefer low wall or the high wall and the price of $11k is that a good price or what do you recommend appreciate if you could help out anyway thank you

    I can agree to what all was said comparing them. I recently bought a sure trac dump trailer in January and I’m not too happy with the build quality. The fenders do feel flimsy. Plus I hate that the running lights are on the top of the fender compared to other trailers that have them recessed into the fender. The tarp is down right annoying I hate it . Either way the sure trac is nice and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it and it’s been working nice for what I bought it for.

      I agree with you- there’s definitely features of the Sure-Trac that have shown themselves to be flaws over time, but that doesn’t make it a bad trailer. Like everything, The devil is in the details.

    Scissor vs telescopic? Is there a big difference?

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  2 роки тому +3

      A telescopic lift will be more powerful comparatively to a scissor lift in any application. That being said, in terms of 14 K dump trailers the only time you’ll overwhelm a scissor lift is if you are significantly overloaded or loaded front heavy. I always spec a scissor lift on this size dump trailer and all my class 4-5 trucks. On class 7 and up trucks I like a telescopic hoist.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  2 роки тому +1

      The ramps and ramp doors have held up flawlessly after over a year of heavy use actually, which surprised me. My only beef with the trailer is the chains that hold the barn doors open- they bounce out going down the road and just don’t have a good way to be permanently stowed so we’re working on a change there but otherwise the trailer has been awesome and my crews fight over it every day.

  • @mark_Hershey

    Hey man, any update on the trailer? I may have missed it but did the suretracs fail in any way other than the crappy tires. Went through that with my diamond c in 2019 when new. They all use junk tires. But recently switched from diamond c to suretrac equipment trailer for payload reasons(non cdl/aluminum). But curious how this comparison is going.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  Рік тому +3

      I still prefer the Diamond C. The SureTracs use a much taller spring hanger and we’re lucky to get 2 full years out of them- something about that height that seems to put a lot of lateral stress on them. The Diamond C has now gone through 2 full seasons on it’s original hangers with no issues other than I did have to replace the equalizers due to wear this winter, but that’s typical of any brand. I have converted all 3 of my dump trailers to 17.5 tires and that lets the tires slip more in a turn, plus we’ve had zero tire failures in 2 years. My oldest Sure Trac has had to have its main frame reinforced due to rust right at the dump hinge- the tube steel frame is thinner and doesn’t shed water well so it stays moist vs the open channel on the Diamond C. (And we don’t run these trailers ~January-March so it’s not salt!) overall they’re both good brands but I now have 3 Diamond C’s of different types and I feel there is a noticeable difference in engineering, build quality and definitely paint.

    Your "comparing" a 2021 trailer to one that is 6yrs old, during a time when trailer construction has improved by leaps and bounds. Take a look at my 2020 STrac deckover dump... Just as beefy Tube tongue as your diamonds i-beam. Then, your comparing a lo-pro vs standard height...not once do you point out why compromises are made- in this case, show a load of dirt thats been dumped from the low vs higher trailers (how many Dump Trucks do you see with drop axles and low floors: none) Then you go into the diamonds I-beam construction... yeah, most of them are built that way, and that is why the suretracs are lighter than every other trailer brand. 400lbs less steel means 400lbs more payload. Everybody else seems to understand this... i guess you like driving excess steel around. Obviously your cuxtomer is just getting the extra fuel costs passed along to them. Um, Ramps? Didnt show them.. the Sure Tracs are absolutely brilliant. Do the diamonds have the 1/2" bent top plate that puts the wieght ON the trailer and not just that little back rail like everybody else does? Dont think so. Lastly, can we point out that it appears your crew is obviously good at tearing stuff up? Seems like you are doing a bit more rewelding than the avg guy. Lets see that Diamond after 6yrs. The s trac spare holder is just an afterthought... not a good spot for Any trailers spare; which is why s.trac gives you the entire underbody tub, which no other company does, which you dont use and didnt point out. About the only aspect i agree with you on is the paint coat/metal prep. All of these companies Need to get that right, at the factory. Its bs. The diamond may look good new, but again, lets see under the bed in 2yrs. Take it easy~

      @@robstruckshop80 U know your not a engineer or really have the know how of what your saying.
      It is a toss up on how to make them. Yes Diamond C trailer are good. But not the best. Allot of good to compare to older one to a new design. The new one will always look better. There is allot of improvement Diamond C trailers could do toooo..... But they are stuck on some that don't make sense. Ok they try but they are not close on all that matters when your buying a trailer it is not only about design, weight but functionality and engineering. Most trailers don't last beyond 5 years because of the salt and reality they can't. Because people destroy them and think they should???

    What's the common problems with the 16inch wheel combo, asking because I'm in the market for a trailer.

    • @robstruckshop80
      @robstruckshop80  3 роки тому +2

      I’ve found that on dump trailers with a relatively short wheelbase that do be a lot of tight turn backing, combined with a tall sidewall tire of lighter construction like most 16” ST tires, you get lots of sidewall and belt failures. I’ve seen the same issues on campers and 5th wheels that back a lot and see high heat. The 17.5” tires are much more of a commercial construction with a lower profile so they skid on tight turns instead of gripping and flexing the sidewalls, straining the hubs, etc.

      On all my work stuff I’m running Provider tires on gray steel wheels with no hand holes. We don’t run long distance so I went with the ~$300 tires instead of the pricier brands. Keep in mind you should convert over to 5/8” studs and flanged lug nuts, but that’s another few hundred dollars per trailer in drums/bearings/lug nuts. I’m running acorn style nuts still to seat them for now but pre-bought new 12”x2” drums with 5/8” studs so that the next time each trailer is due for brakes I can make the conversion to the “right” setup.
