    RED BEANS & RICE
    In a Slow Cooker
1 lb Raw Red Kidney Beans
    1 Onion
    1 Green Bell Pepper
    3 Sticks of Celery
    3 Cloves of Garlic
    1 lb Smoked Sausage
1 32oz Container of Chicken Broth
    4 Cups of Water
1 & 1/2 Tablespoons Cajun or Creole Seasoning
First rinse the beans in a bowl, drain the water, and set aside.
Now chop your vegetables and slice your smoked sausage.
**At this time you could add everything to the slow cooker and just set it, but here are a few prior steps to really set them over the top**
Heat a pot to medium heat.
Add a small amount of oil to coat the bottom.
Drop in your smoked sausage and let it get a nice sear.
When you start to see some browning on the sausage, remove them from the pot to a bowl on the side.
Now drop your vegetables in and sauté until soft.
Once soft, add the sausage back in.
Next pour in your 32 oz container of Chicken Broth.
Add your beans to your slow cooker, and then pour the contents of the pot into the slow cooker.
Add 4 Cups of water, Cajun seasoning, and mix well.
Set the Slow Cooker to 8 hours on a high heat.
When done, remove about a fourth of the beans with a slotted spoon into a bowl.
Use a fork to crush the beans into a creamy mixture.
Add the creamy mixture back to the slow cooker and mix well.
Cook sum rice and enjoy! ☺️

Made red beans using your recipe, and it was delicious! My wife is from Louisiana, but we live in the UK so we had to substitute one or two ingredients. I used Knorr ham stock cubes instead of chicken stock and real Polish Kiel basa smoked sausage. It worked great!

      RED BEANS & SAUSAGE

At least I used to until a subdivision popped up in between. BTW I am very picky about my cooking also. My grandma was the best cook that I had the pleasure to eat with. I figured I'd be unhappy with anybody else's cooking for the rest of my life unless I learned how to cook like her, which I did. I am self taught, but I still managed to pull it off. But it sure looks like you had an awesome teacher also.

R Yeckley it’s in a slow cooker. The idea is to go to work, come home, and your beans or done. What else you got. 😏

    • @coachvk
      @coachvk 4 роки тому

R Yeckley he showed the way to do it that doesn’t involve soaking. There’s a few methods and this was just one. If you use a pressure cooker or if you soak the beans the time is much shorter. It’s good to have an alternate because sometime you may forget to salt like me but had your heart set on those beans LOL.
