- Hey everyone,
A bit of a random video for my channel (book reviews are coming back soon!) but I recently got a bodycam and wanted to take you kayaking with me and my dog, Winston.
Enjoy!
P.S. Sorry about the grey weather, it is the UK after all!

Gotta love Winston's life jacket. 👍👍
Look at his tail loving it
His tail has a mind of its own 😂
Looked great fun. Glad it didn't sink !
It was a great kayak. I did get a hole in it towards the end of it's life, but because it's got three air chambers, it didn't sink 👍🏼
Loved the bit where Winston does his 'Titanic' thing from the front of the boat😀
He loves standing at the front! he falls off occasionally 😅 but it doesn't seem to bother him.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
He’s such a good doggo , very obedient. Would love one like him ❤️
He is such a good boy! Always wants to please and just be with you. He will do whatever you want as long as he understands what you’re asking. Im very lucky to have him.
Exactly all the information I was looking for, thank you! My dog doesn't swim but she absolutely loves to be in a boat and sits still like a statue :') Your dog is amazing, great to see how it works with this kayak! Especially how to let dogs step in and out and why to use a vest. Thanks!
So glad I could help 👍🏼😀
What a sweet episode!
So nice to have a canine friend along.
Happy Trails!
Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼
Thank you for a real video on kayaking with your dog. I'm considering it and this is really helpful 😊
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks so much for watching.
Lovely little video, I enjoyed that. Just bought a Kayak.
Thanks for watching. I hope you have lots of happy adventures in it 👍🏼
@@Roz.S Thank you, that's really sweet. It would be lovely if we could get our Beagle to go out, but I don't think there is any chance of that.
Winston is so polite. Most spaniels and retrievers I have met would jump from the bank into the boat if it came within a jumpable distance. Then they jump into the water, only spending enough time in the kayak to shake water off their fur. Roseanna is a great narrator. thank you for sharing this video. PS, there are electric inflators available. Battery powered, plug into your car or hook to your car battery.
Thank you, but I like pumping it up the manual way; it's my warm-up before paddling 😅 Winston and I paddle board now and he does spend a lot of time in the water 😂 I just paddle off without him until he's ready to get back onboard again. Glad you enjoyed our video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just bought one. Looking forward to sharing my adventures .
Wow, you have such a cute and obedient dog.
Thank you. He is a very good boy.
Really enjoyed this adventure.
I do the same with my two dogs & they LOVE IT. Sometimes we do a few days & camp over.
Love nature...Love life 😀
That's awesome!! We keep meaning to do a multi-day adventure, but haven't got around to it yet. It's on the list!!
@@Roz.S
Do it, you know you want 😀
You'd definitely love "The Lost Lake" in Pentrefoelas.
You would have to leave your van at the start of the trail if you haven't got a 4x4.
Look amazing (just Googled it). I think it's a good excuse to buy a 4x4 😂👍
What a lovely doggy
Thank you! I'm a little bias, but he's THE BEST!!
a very helpful video. I do kayak with my border collie in a rigid kayak but I'm looking for something inflatable for when we travel. I'm still worried about his claws puncturing it but good to hear you've had no problems
Very glad to hear that you found it helpful. Thanks so much for watching. The latex is very thick, it would take a very sharp claw with a lot of effort behind it to puncture it.
Brilliant video , brilliant owner
God bless 🙏❤️
You are so kind. Thank you
That is adorable, I want to try to take my cat along, I once saw someone doing that, he was sitting in the front and chilling out. Nice video, you got a new sub!
Thank so much! Sorry the late reply. Did you manage to get your cat out on an adventure?
Your dog is adorable. We have two cocker spaniels and they are wonderful companions.
Thank you. He’s currently asleep on my leg 😅 They do make great companions; very loyal and aways happy just to be with you.
loved this, I have a sprocker very similar to winston. I am thinking about a kayak as Frank (my spaniel) loves swimming and I think it would be a great day out for us. would you buy this again or go for a different one?
I would buy this one again. I was happy with my purchase, and we had lots of fun with it. But we have now moved to a paddleboard, but I sit on the paddleboard and use it as a kayak (I've got a video coming soon on it). The bonus of a paddleboard is that it's easier to paddle, and my dog can jump off it and go for a swim, and it's easier for me to fish him out of the water 😅
@@Roz.S ohh I did have my eye on a paperboard too but thought the kayak would have been better. Great to know you prefer the paddleboard
🐕 loves that
Winston likes being on (and in) the water 😅🐶
Thanks for watching and commenting.
cool kayak
Thank you 🙂
Looks really fun!
Do you have to pay £150 waterway licence to use your inflatable on the canals?
I have to have a waterways licence, but I don't pay £150. If you join British Canoeing, you get a waterways licence plus insurance for about £50 per year. 😀
Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
@@Roz.S Fantastic! I'll do it to!
Many thanks!
great video, im thinking of getting a Kayay like yours.. im on a proper canal in the midlands would you recomend ?
If you just want to have a bit of fun, paddle up and down and not take things too seriously, then yes I would recommend! 👍🏼 I really like my kayak and I have had some good days out on the water, but it’s a on the cheaper end of the scale and therefore isn’t going to be the quickest or the easiest to manoeuvre. But that doesn’t bother me. I still have a good time 👍🏼😀
Where are you nowadays, used to love your reviews of non-fiction books.
I’ve still been reading and I’ll be back with my book reviews later this year 🙌🏼 I’ve just been busy with a work project and I took a break from social media.
@@Roz.S ok..Btw are you on "Goodreads" by any chance.
Enjoyed the video. I'm thinking of getting one of these for weekend adventures. It will be mainly me by myself but on occasion I might take my son out with me so will get the 2 person one. What's the stability like? Are these pretty difficult to capsize? He's only 4 so obviously something I will need to consider. 🙂 Thanks.
It would lake a lot of effort to tip it over and capsize it. I can lean right out of it and pull my dog from the water and it hardly moves.
are you worried the dogs nails will poke a hole in the kayak? i wanna bring my dog on board
It was an initial concern of mine before I got the kayak. But the latex is very thick!! My dog’s claws will not get through it easily. We’ve been out in it numerous time (I’ve lost count) and it’s never been a problem.
Why does your dog need a life vest?
1 - So he can be easily seen in the water by the canal boats and other water traffic.
2 - So he can be easily pulled back into the the kayak when he goes off for a swim. (It’s got handles on it)
😀
Does the kayak survive from dog scratch?
Yes. It would take a lot for my dog to puncture it. It was an initial concern of mine, but after purchasing it, I saw that it was make of really thick latex and my dogs claws won't break through it.
Wouod u be happy to use a fishing rod in kayak
I not a fishing person myself, but I have hear of a few other people using it for some casual fishing.
Hi! Can I ask why your dog needs a life vest and what brand it is?
Hello, 👋🏼
He has a life jacket for two reasons
1 - so he can easily be seen in the water
2 - so I can easily pull him back into the kayak using the handles
He’s a very good swimmer so doesn’t really need it to stay afloat, but I suppose it would help him if he was ever stuck in the water for a long period of time.
This is one he has on Amazon - amzn.to/3z7zzPf
I think you should do a video on how to own a dog.
It would literally just be...
Step 1 - Get a dog
Step 2 - Do lots of fun things with dog
😅😅
Do you need to do anything to ride on the canals
You need to have a waterways licence. If you join British Canoeing you get it free with your memberships - costs £45 per year. 👍🏼
@@Roz.S your amazing thank you so much
Brilliant dog! Or is that brilliantly trained dog? Never had a dog but I do love them. One of the things that puts me off is all the crap dogs I see. So many dogs pulling on the lead, running up to people or other dogs, not recalling at all, and just no obedience in general. I know people say it's the owners fault not the dog, but are there really that many crap owners who don't bother to train their dogs properly, or are many dogs just untrainable?
I did do a lot of training with Winston when he was younger, but I can't take all the credit, he really is just an awesome dog! I always say that Winston will do whatever you want him to do, as long as he knows what it is that you want him to do. I also think it helps that we're out all the time, so he's always seeing other dogs/people/things and they're no longer a novelty. It's usually the dogs that don't get out much that get overly excited by meeting other people/dogs etc. That's my theory anyway.
I'm going to leave my cat at home.
Why is your dog wearing a cheap life vest
He’s a good swimmer. The life vest is so he can be seen easily in the water and I can use the handles to easily pull him back into the kayak.
Awesome video!! I kayak with my husky and I’m thinking about buying an inflatable because of the easier transport. How would you rate your kayak stability? Have you ever flipped this kayak? Many thanks!!!! ❤️🚣🐾🐕👍
Hello.
Thanks for watching my video 💚
I’ve never flipped it, and I’ve never felt as though it was going to flip.
I have to pull my dog back into the kayak at least once on every trip after he’s gone for a swim, and even then I’ve never been worried about it flipping. So yeah, I’d say it was pretty stable 👍🏼
@@Roz.S that is awesome!!! Thanks so much!
It's this kayak good k2 if use it only one person? I want it to use in the sea
It's a big long kayak to paddle and manoeuvre with just one person, but it can be done. I paddle with my dog ok, although I've not used it in the sea.
Alternatively, the company that makes this kayak also makes a 1-person kayak. I've not tried it personally, so I can't say whether it's good or not, but it's got some good reviews on Amazon - amzn.to/3Pald8g
Hope that helps. x
