Bassai Dai is a favorite kata I've seen performed. A well defined kata that was filmed, detailed and performed excellently by these two gentlemen. I started in Shorei Ryu.
I wonder when that Kata diverged so dramatically? Was it from Master Funakoshi when he brought Karate to mainland Japan or what? I have done Shotokan for decades, but really like some of the Shito-Ryu’s, what appear to be, grasping and pulling moves in this Kata.

This video helped me out a great deal! I haven't practiced Shito Ryu or Bassai Dai in years, and this by far is one of the best detail versions for both Shotokan and Shito Ryu.
Since I was a child I have always thought that shito kai or shito ryu kata are aesthetic and beautiful. I am Shoto Kan .. speed+coordination+strengthx2

I'd like to see a comparison of Naihanchi/Tekki Sandan. Most versions of Sandan basically look alike, but I noticed the shito-ryu version is slightly different. It be interesting to know why its so different than the others.

En Shito Ryu no hay un lugar específico para el kiai, donde tú lo sientas, puede ser después del tercer morote tsuki. En el caso del Shotokan no lo sé.

Se respeta la versión kata.Basai Dai ke presentas en video.Solo un detalle de 3 ke observé, En nuestra escuela las defensas en Neko así dashi.es bloqueando parte baja..y.el.video nuestra nivel medio. De todas formas es agradable ver nuestro estilo en videos . Hay mucha calidad en ambos estilos.

One detail, the front hand of the last Shuto uke is wide open, remenber elbow goes down 90 degrees, 1 fist apart from the rib to the elbow
