    Thank you so much for these tutorials! Your break down of the techniques makes it so much easier to understand how to execute them properly. I've been struggling with Ura mawashi geri and ushiro mawashi geri, so it helps a lot to watch your videos. And congratulations to ILJA for making it into the Olympics! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Best regards from Brasil! 🙏🏻🥋🇧🇷

    There's also a "hip break" element of this kick where your hip goes opposite to the kick just before your kick hits its target. That's actually a very important element of this kick as that is where a lot of its power comes from. Overall a very good explanation of the kick.

    • @Chapperino
      @Chapperino Рік тому +1

      What is a hip break?

    • @JDA2185
      @JDA2185 Рік тому

      @@Chapperino its when you twist or push your hips in the opposite direction where yout kick is going. There is a guy who calls himself AJ Van Bakker El Duro who explains that hip btreak very well so you should check him out.

    I would like to show you how a real Ushiro Mawashi Geri goes. Mine doesn't come with the hip rotation like you do. For me it comes when I open the tension from my groin like a whip with power. I learned from Asai and Yahara. Greetings from Germany

    What's the reason you don't take a step across with the front foot?

    • @TimothyTakemoto
      @TimothyTakemoto 7 місяців тому

      Yes. Good Question. Some recommend that you do since the maximum power of the kick is achieved at about 10 or 11 o'clock rather than straight in front of you, so it helps if you opponent is a little to your left (according to a Taikwondo guy).

  • @omari2306

    I’ve never seen this kick called a “spinning back kick” before. I’ve only ever heard it referred to as a “spinning hook kick”.

    • @wrlsspryngmnts
      @wrlsspryngmnts 3 роки тому

      I though Rodney this kick was called a spinning hook one too seeing all the spinning back kicks I've witnessed connect either with the heel or the sole of the foot.

    • @John-ob7dh
      @John-ob7dh 2 роки тому

      I trained from 1972 to 80 and we always called it a spinning back kick .my fav technique was a feint left foot mae geri ,drop the left foot and spin connecting with a right foot back kick.
