Phil contracted hepatitis when Lizzie was getting ready to do an American tour. The tour was canceled. The black rose in my opinion, was their best album with the best lineup. The music scene was changing at the time, the punk, new wave stuff was becoming dominant and maybe people thought that Thin Lizzy was to old school. The fact remains that if you become a star in the United States, you become, star everywhere. Some of the roadies who also had a band became huge international stars. U2.
My first ever Thin Lizzy LP. I know, others started with "Johnny the Fox", others yet with "Vagabonds...". But here we had the "Scott Gorham-Gary Moore" configuration throughout. Glad I... entered the club this way! Legends all!
I was so lucky to have heard this band at a young age, growing up in Ireland I had friends who blessed me with tapes and CDs when I was about 12 and thin Lizzy will always be my favourite band astoundingly powerful and ahead of its time music. Phil was something else.
It's a tedious existence laying your love on the line Resistance is useless she can leave at any time I must confess that in my quest I felt depressed and restless But this Casanova's roving days are over more or less With love She broke my heart and made me sad You foolish boy you lost what you had My Mademoiselle I must make my farewell You see Senor I know she don't want me no more I'd like to make that Fraulein mine, mein Fraulein So I'll depart sweetheart and leave you with this line With love She says she won't be back no more With love She says she's leaving for sure My Mademoiselle I'll say farewell No matter where you are, Au Revoir 'Til we meet again, Auf Wiedersehn She wrote it on a letter But it didn't make him feel any better With love She says goodbye, adios, farewell There are those who will spend a lifetime of leisure 'Til the leisure finally takes control And they'll spend their life in search of pleasure Never knowing the treasure that they own There are those who will spend a lifetime in hard labour 'Til the labour breaks both body and soul And they will learn to love their neighbor And be assured of what they own
I must confess, this is definitely one of my favorite tracks. With this famous Rock Band. That was the starting point for my interest in this Cooktail of cool Rock Music, going forward.
Only Phil Lynott could rhyme depressed and Restless. RIP
He could, and Eminem... alliteration. Both experts.
A singular wordsmyth. He had a way with lyrics like no other in hard rock.
@@homerpez eminem is just a robot talking . lynott is the inventor of rock music and influence of all rock/metal bands of 80s and after .
How is this not a hit song like The Boys are Back in Town was ?! Lizzy had such star quality !
It was not released as a single. This is the reason.
Jimmy Bain on Bass🎸🎼

That bass line
Jimmy Bain played bass on this one
This is the song I listen to most on BR. Even though the title track is the best song prob, this song is heartbreaking and I love it
Its so sad.
@@blackspring3207 "foolish boy you lost what you had" is especially poignant. Too sad...

It's a tedious existence laying your love on the line
Resistance is useless she can leave at any time
I must confess that in my quest I felt depressed and restless
But this Casanova's roving days are over more or less
With love
She broke my heart and made me sad
You foolish boy you lost what you had
My Mademoiselle I must make my farewell
You see Senor I know she don't want me no more
I'd like to make that Fraulein mine, mein Fraulein
So I'll depart sweetheart and leave you with this line
With love
She says she won't be back no more
With love
She says she's leaving for sure
My Mademoiselle I'll say farewell
No matter where you are, Au Revoir
'Til we meet again, Auf Wiedersehn
She wrote it on a letter
But it didn't make him feel any better
With love
She says goodbye, adios, farewell
There are those who will spend a lifetime of leisure
'Til the leisure finally takes control
And they'll spend their life in search of pleasure
Never knowing the treasure that they own
There are those who will spend a lifetime in hard labour
'Til the labour breaks both body and soul
And they will learn to love their neighbor
And be assured of what they own
Great song!!!!
Great text and the band !!!

So glad your spinning this. My musical roots rt here🙌
The 3 people who hit the thumb down on this song lick windows.
Gary Moore is a magician - 1:36
And Gary r.i.p
Intended for Phil’s solo album - featuring Jimmy Bain on bass.
This track has always sounded like it should have been on the bad reputation album .
She’s broke my heart and made me sad she’s broke my heart you foolish boy you lost what you had
Adios, auf wiedersehen...
