Exactly. I’ve always found it weird how people say “all these nearby cultures share a similar story, so they must’ve copied each other”. This is meant to prove that the flood didn’t happen, but it only works if you go in already assuming that the flood didn’t happen. Because, if the flood did happen, then you would also expect to see these similar stories about it. When people say “the flood stories are similar”, it seems like an argument that says “the flood didn’t happen”. But actually, it boils down to a nothing statement: “if you assume the flood didn’t happen, then you can conclude that the flood didn’t happen”
So odd to me also. I’ve always thought it made more sense that these were tellings of same events from likely different perspectives rather than copied events.
Also, if a story is shared among neighbors, it might indicate something happened among them, but because flood stories are all around the world, and they share surprising similar details, we can know a global flood happened.
@@hrayrbarseghyan5453 it's not really proof of a worldwide flood. You could say we know flooding occurs in different places around the world, and these stories evidence that. There are over 30 different flood stories around the world. I think it’s pretty obvious that there was a world wide flood at some point in history. The Bible however, is the most accurate because it explains how God opened the floodgates of Heaven and under the earth. Humans only learned of Great Lakes underneath the earths surface in the last few decades. How was this known a few thousand years ago? The great flood also explains the dividing of nations (Pangea) and and why we find ancient civilizations underneath large bodies of water.

A lot of babbling, is not just parallels is actual story almost word for word! If the events of the Bible predates the Bible than it must've been written somewhere.
It’s quite literally not word for word, and even if it had similarities, that doesn’t mean anything. For example: if you had a story about two buildings crashing down during 2001, caused by a plane; but, there was a story 2000 years ago about the same thing, but instead of buildings, it was two sky high temples but came down due to an earthquake, does that mean they’re the same story just rewritten? No.

@lukemoone4702 yes and for Wes to go out there and babble like that is really disingenuous. Is not just Billy saying it theres numerous archeologists and paleontologist that have confirmed this evidence. The Bible is 4k years old the event's of Noah is 50k years old doesn't it make sense that our oldest ancestors who were closer to the event had a more concrete record?!? The Bible really is just tad bits of other stories.
There’s multiple clay tablets with the epic of Gilgamesh, and they all have notable differences. The earliest ones don’t reference a flood at all. It’s not until the 16th century BC that a flood is introduced, but there are less similarities to the Noah myth. The one with the most similarities is from Ashurbanipal’s library, roughly 700-800 BC, but by then the Hebrews already had a firmly established Noah myth.
