Due to the integrated broadcasting information systems of the American and British versions of The Box, viewers in the United States saw this video sequence. This incident subsequently overshadowed the upcoming launch of MTV2. MTV Networks issued a press release with a brief comment on the incident, which was published on Viacom's corporate website-the parent company of MTV and MTV2 and owner of the American version of The Box-and read on the MTV News and CBS Evening News.

I have seen old news articles about this reporting on what had happened, so it's about time we're finally able to see what was really going on. I have a small theory though.
