Ending this Ed Bickert tribute month with a tasteful comping lesson by Ed himself. These piece have been voted by my 'Patreon' subscribers... Guys you have taste! Some of these voicings gave me serious headache to figure thou... haha. Hope you'll enjoy!
There are plenty of great soloists , but what separates the real pro's are the ones who can comp so effortlessly behind a vocalist. Being simultaneously unobtrusive and supportive is a rare gift, indeed ! RIP Ed and merci beaucoups, Francois

What a beautiful cut of this classic. I am slowly learning jazz with the help of this site.
What a hidden Bickert treasure you've highlighted. I don't think I would have found this on my own. For those who are die-hard Bickert fans, Ed cut 9 duets with Rosemary Clooney between 1983 and 1987, scattered across 5 albums. He's also on most of the band cuts from those records, but the duets give you a chance to hear him in a really intimate context, a la Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald.
Thank you so much for this transcription. I don't know many tracks with Ed accompanying a vocalist.
There is so much for me to learn from this transcription, or any Ed Bickert transcription, so thankful for what you are doing here, wow!

Thank you for the transcription. I reworked all of measure 10 -13 in 8th position for myself - much more effective - I found skipping from 10th position to 3rd impossible to get to in time so I moved that 2nd voicing to 8th position and then figured out all the voicing for the C minor (etc) stuff in that spot. Again, thanks for the transcription...
