A totally beautiful performance by Ed Bickert. He has such a warm and clean tone. I know of few jazz guitarists who sound like him, mostly because they all play arch-tops and Ed was one of the few to play a Telecaster. I put him right up at the top with the greatest, although he's not as well known. Ed and Lenny Breau are Canada's all-time greatest jazz guitarists.
Thanks for this - appreciate the hard work that went into this. Ed's playing was so reflective of who he was - deep, humble, thoughtful and giving. His music will live on forever.
Someone who wanted to play with ED, had to play beautiful. Wonderful comping with a lot of cord voiceing and a kind of pianistic feel. Did first discover Ed Bickert with Paul Desmond an '' Live at Bourbon Street''. Paul Desmond didn't need any pianist at this recording, when Ed Bickert did the work. He had his own voice!
Hey Francois! It'd be great if you could transcribe Ed Bickert's comping or solo in Paul Desmond's Darn that Dream! It is an Ed masterpiece and is full of wonderful sound
Wow, I really got to listen to Ed Bickert more. I tried to find the CD, but it is out of print. One can find it 2nd hand, but at astronomical prices...

Dont leave out oliver gannon
Those chord voicing are just out of this world. Incomparable!
Totally captivating. Beautifully done.
I don't think anyone has ever played jazz guitar on a Fender Telecaster better than Ed Bickert. His tone is so warm and rich and truly inspiring.
Arguably, few have ever played this well on any type of guitar, in any form of music. He was brilliant, and this one of his many many pearls.
Between Ed's fantastic arrangement and the basic beauty of this tune, I am so touched
He was such a beautiful player- that watching the transcription alone is moving. Ty.
Some say he sounds like Jim but not to me. He has his own distinct, unique, unmistakable style that can't be compared to anyone else.
Agree
If they think so, IMO they are listening, but not hearing. Seems to me.
Jim Hall probably copied him!
Just wonderful.! His sound is deep and inspiring. Thanks, François
Unmatched chord work
Remembering Ed, by listening to this. RIP E.B.

Hi, do you have any Joe Pass and Ella transcription?
Not yet, but it's in my plan for future transcriptions. Cheers!

The guitar is a Telecaster
So nice, great sound, Gibson 175 or L5?
Fender Telecaster
+YeshuaMusicHope Sounds great!
+Dave Kana I'm going to have to try one out. Would a tele or strat get the same results? Thanks, Dave.
He's playing a Tele. Try with a Roland Cube.
