This was a great demonstration of using AC2 on iOS to enroll MacOS devices. Thank you for mentioning the 30day cooling off period because we were struggling to understand why our management profiles were removable. That was a gold nugget for us!

I've been searching for something that was this easy to understand for days. THANK YOU.

So this didn't work. When I scan a device the phone just vibrates and the other device continues to show the scan for the other device.

Hey @xyz41100! Sorry to hear you are having some issues. Possible things to check: make sure your wifi and bluetooth are enabled on the Apple Configurator iPhone and that your singed in with a 'Device Manager' role in Apple Business / School Manager. And if you are still having issues.. contact us directly!. Thanks

Can enrolment be done remotely? I’m trying to set this up for my family in a different country.

I'm trying to enroll an iPad though. How do you do that? It's supposed to pop the fuzzy blue blob at the WiFi selection screen but it's not.

I was wondering what happens after the reboot ? If I were to run the setup assistant with a Macbook with data on it, will it erase the data ?

Our bad - we're good on the tools yet a little slower on the socials. Apologies, it seems you question slipped through the cracks. But in case you still wanted a response to your question - see below:
Apple requires the device to be at the setup assistant after a fresh install of the OS so you would typically perform this process after wiping the the Mac. There is a more complicated way around this if you have enough free disk space on the Mac. Feel free to reach out to sales via website to discuss further...

Can you add another iOS device with an iOS device or is it only intended to add macOS devices? Thanks.

This feature will be available for iOS once iOS 16 is released until then you can enrol iOS devices into ABM or ASM via Apple Configurator 2 on macOS.
      support.apple.com/en-au/guide/apple-business-manager/axm200a54d59/web
The process you are after is under the sub-heading Add devices Manually add an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV.

our bad - we're been busy on the tools and a little slower on the socials. Apologies, it seems you question slipped through the cracks. But in case you still wanted a response to your question - see below:
This process is targeted at IT staff to perform on Macs and not typically performed by the end user. An iPhone is required to complete the process, it is not currently possible with Android.

I have iOS 16 and Apple Configurator is not compatible with my 7th gen iPad with iOS 16. I have a bunch of Mac's I need to add to ABM and all I have been told is you have to use Apple Configurator and need at least iOS 15, not true. I have iOS 16 and it still does not open properly and the App store says my device is not compatible. So disappointing as it has been a royal pain in the A to get anyone to help with getting my Mac's in our ABM. "You need Apple Configurator!", thanks . . . it doesn't work. All the time I have spent getting this setup was such a waste of time, effort and money. Thanks Apple!!

I hate this apple configurator. everybody says its easy but when you are part of a very complex network wifi system government and you use the configurator app to configurate your apple devices. its a such a pain. it looks so simple but its not intuitive at all. it takes me 40 min each device to configurate because my firewall are so complex and i cannot just take away those rules on my internet just to install an apple device.

You must admit that this isn’t AC2's fault. I have worked on military and government networks and their complex security is always stifling any well-laid-out process. What I might suggest is having a central location where you always enroll the devices and that location is properly allowed through the firewall to reach Apple Business Manager and the iOS and MacOS devices can "see" each other.

sorry for the delayed reply - we've been busy on the tools and a little slower on the socials! But the internal teams have a possible suggestion for you:
We would recommend using a standard wpa2 wifi connection when performing this process. Wifi networks with proxies, 802.1x or similar will not make it easy. A portable wifi hotspot would be more suitable for the process of adding the devices to Apple Business Manager. Feel free to reach out to our sales team via the 'Contact Us' page of our website, to discuss further...
