Honestly, the visuals of this vid make me dream of the hypothetical reality where BN never got version splits and you just had all the party members. Like, the concept of rallying an army of 13 Navis and doing a massive joint operation is SO COOL.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Protoman and Colonel should switch teams, mostly because it would give Team Colonel more of a military theme. Magnet Man is a bit of a loose connection but I think of him as the tank, Gyro Man is air support, Napalm Man is the artillery, Search Man is the sniper, Meddy is obviously the medic, and Colonel is...the Colonel
+1 to liking the liberation missions. They are the highlight of BN5 for me and a great way of getting all the soul navis involved. ...and one thing I learned from this that I didn't know before is of Toadman's ability to go through Darkloid panels! Amazing.
An important thing about ToadMan's ability is that it not only liberates panels blocked by the Darkloids, it can also liberate panels on the other side of barrier panels. You'll want to keep this in mind for the final liberation mission in the postgame.
I like the liberation missions but I do wish they have more layout as well as the Navis has more abilities, especially Meddy. Her Order Point ability is only applicable for two missions, her debut and her last mission because Mission 8 layout and placement of barriers are not made friendly for her at all.
One thing about Meddy's order point ability that I remember pissing me off is that it only lasts for the turn you use it in, and I don't remember the game telling me about that so I found that out by first hand experience, this means that you have to liberate the panel on the other end in that same turn or else you just wasted those points (Which is a massive pain by itself but you then have to use Meddy to liberate again, and that can get pretty stupid against certain viruses).
Absolutely love liberation missions its challenging enough but also not overly difficult , plus being able to use other navis is very refreshing Btw team colonel is hands down my fav, always felt toadman's order was kinda op
the only issue with 5 is just the holy S chip code. it was really hard building non-S folders, so people couldnt enjoy the forced combat, chaos unisons also made it a bother to use the team navis. Honestly that alone could be a whole video topic, S code in 5
Liberation missions are great, it gives an amazing sense of progression as you get better chips and strategies. It’s like a giant boss stage that’s repeatable and unlocks a whole new area every time.
In battle network 5 double team ds during libration missions you can sent other navis like example you want to bring gryoman to other version there is transport chip it has number times you have so think before you pick who's going to replace navi team
@@icemarvel0791You can actually get more transport chips in BN5 DS. One way you do that is putting more GBA games into the GBA slot if you have an original DS. (At least from what I remember)
I didnt much care for them when i first played Double Team DS, but that was also my first BN game ever, nowadays though I can see why people enjoyed them and certainly enjoy them more than I did. Only thing that would make them better IMO is not being locked to such low level chips for so long.
BN5 being my first experience with these games might be some source of bias but I always enjoyed the liberation missions. The ghostbustings in BN6 just don't feel as epic. It's not purely turn-based strategy either as your actual skill with the normal battle mechanics (and the dps your folder can dish out) weighs into your decisions as to how big of a risk you want to take when surrounded by tiles. The turn limits go into the bosses on top of that so there's a kind of pressure you don't normally get in other scenarios (where as long as you're good at not dying you'll win eventually even if you have to resort to buster shots). Ofc the difficulty loses all meaning if you're actually good at this game and kill bosses in a single custom screen regularly.
If you like turn-based strategy with combat decided by an action game, you might also enjoy Star Control, from the early 90s, or even its predecessor, Archon.
So Protoman and Coronal are the same, Knightman and Magnetman are the same. Except Magnetman has a cost, and Knightman's team has to be close to him. I think Shadowman is a better scout than Gyroman. Napalm gets more range than Tomahawk. Numberman is better at getting items but Searchman is better for combat. Finally Meddy's ability requires her and a partner while Toadman gives his partner more range.
Gyroman and Meddy are specifically made for pairing together. You almost can't use Meddy's ability at all without setting up with Gyroman to be standing on the opposite side of a long line of panels. Shadowman also can't liberate a panel unless he can find a clear panel to stand on, as I recall, so only Gyroman can actually clear panels located deep in enemy territory.

It also bypass locked panels
It makes the final liberation mssion very easy.

I’m literally just about to do that mission. Thank you😂

One thing to note in Battle Network 5 Double Team DS is that any navi can save the game.
Knightman is capable of defending any navi on any adjacent panel, not just the one hes standing on.

just wanna leave a comment saying you're awesome for uploading BN content

If we ever get a new BN, I'd love a liberation mission style sidequest or something. They were really fun.
Totally agree. I may be biased because BN5 was my first BN gamr, but I loved the missions

Yeah but it only one per liberation mission which sucks because i would have loved to see what kind of wacky team comps you could make

Numberman's ability allows you to get 3000 zennys on End area 5 liberate mission. A nice way to farm money on Team Coronel.
I enjoy the liberation missions myself. I was quite shocked to hear a lot of people don’t.

Is there any way you could make your picture for the video a wallpaper? It looks amazing!!
Shademan: one more enemy more and more and more. . .?😰
The liberation missions were great. Reminded me of Fire Emblem almost.

Toadman order ability clears
Wait, don’t you carry magnet man’s barrier into battles temporarily?
No.
I don't know where you're getting that idea from.
You might be thinking of the invincibility from bonus panels

I think Gyroman + Meddy is worth a bit more than Shadowman or Toadman
