Right on Lui! Terrific video! 🙂
Thank you Christine 😁🙏 happy you enjoyed this one!
@@Lui_Fern I sure did!! Happy Wednesday Lui!! Cheers!! 🙂

Great video! Quick question: What do you think of Tres Generaciones tequila?
Excellent video, I would like to know more about some Tequilas that I have seen, such as "Volcan de Mi Tierra" and Jose Cuervo "Reserva de la Familia", I hope to see a review in the future.
I've been converted to this additive free tequila and must thank you.. I've grown to love Siete Leguas, Tequila Ocho, El Tesorro my favorite and Cimarron.. keep up the great videos Lui.. much appreciated.
Woooo! Happy to hear it! 😁🙏
Love your videos, you have me shopping for more addative free/quality tequila and helped refine my tequila taste lol. Arette is one my favorite budget options. I'm going to try either Lalo or Cazcanes next just torn on which one. Thank you Lui
Don Julio was my introduction to tequila. Not knowing what I was looking for, it tastes primarily of peanuts to me. It wasn't my favorite, but it was passable to my taste. Jose was my next try and it felt like it was lacking something. I'm definitely going to see if I can find one of these on my next visit to the liquor store.
You "sips" are perfect serving size! Thats my type of pour! Lol. 7 Leguas is my go to. Lalo is good but i prefer 7. Had a get together and people wanted shots, and no one knew how great 7 leguas is.
I haven’t bought Don Julio for years, and will definitely look for Volans. Siete Leguas is readily available to me and a favorite. I’ve had Lalo, but it harder for me to get my hands on. Gracias, amigo
Yo you made the video I requested!!! Thanks man!
Hahaha you're very welcome! I think I responded to your comment but maybe I never sent it to let you know I made it. Thank you for the idea 😁
@@Lui_Fern 💯🙏🏼
Can you review Corralejo, Don Ramon and San Matías? Loving your videos
Nice review! Local BevMo has Lalo on sale for 42.99 great tequila!
Hmmm guess that’s why I liked Don Julio when I tried it, because it doesn’t taste like tequila. Never liked Tequila and have always been more of a Whiskey guy. Weird thing is that I love Margaritas though. Anyways, your videos have gotten me interested is trying out some of the stuff you rate highly. Don’t know if I’ll end up liking any of it but I’m at least gonna try some out. So thanks for getting me interested.
Una pregunta. Ya probaste Herradura directo del alambique? Esa es la manera tradicional de hacer tequila. Por cierto el Lalo es difícil de encontrar, incluso en México. Saludos y salud
Ok Lui, i need a review on the Mi Familia Flores review on the repo and añejo impressions. Also the celeb collab that Cazcanes did. Im curious to see more info on them, there are hardly any reviews
Siete Leguas and el Tequileno are my go to!
Grateful this channel has taught me proper tequila that i can afford like tres agaves and arette even if constantly out of stock. Dont surprise me living in a 80% hispanic town in California.
The Hispanics don't appreciate quality tequila?
I love El Tesoro and Fortaleza because of you. I been wanting to ask you what do you think about El Padrino?
Hey im very curious what you think of Cabrito reposado and also i cant figure out whether it is additive free?
Thankful for answers from whoever is in the know!
Hi Lui, I know you’re not a huge fan of them, but can you do a vid of your favorite extra añejo tequilas? Also, what are your thoughts on Tears of Llorona, thanks!
Haven't tried Volans, but Lalo and 7 Leguas are in my favorites list!!
Uh oh!!! I drink a lot of Don Julio 70. I prefer Fortaleza after watching your videos. As you already know, it's hard to find now. Thanks for the great recommendations.
that’s how i feel don julio 70 used to be my favorite bottle but it’s full of additives , i been drinking el tesoro anejo now and might try tequila ocho anejo but i don’t like that it’s only age for 12 months
@@waldirgarcia9 we all been there, there is no shame in thinking something is good just because its popular. I was the same way thinking I was cool owning a bottle of 1942. Now I think I am cool sharing something like arte Nom 1146 with some friends.
I tried Lalo earlier this year, agreed, it's great. And I like the story, have a bottle at the house now. I also have an old bottle of pre-sale Don Julio in the back of my liquor cabinet, maybe half left. Guess I should hold onto it!
Lui saludos!! Cual es ese vaso que estas tomando las tequilas me gustan para comprarlos
Si tu buscas "Glencairn Glass" en Google va a encontrar 😁
I was drinking dj blanco recently and I usually like it but the last time I drank it it really did not taste right it was a very familiar taste but something was just nasty about it I don’t have a refined palette so I couldn’t really tell you what threw me off but I think I’m going to look into finding a new blanco to drink that’s accessible to me I really like the centenario reposado but I’ve never had the plata but I’m going to try it
Hi Lui
Lately I tasted tequila
Tapatio Añejo Tequila
Can you please share your opinion
?
Don Julio Anejo is at least drinkable. One problem with being a Tequila lover is that it is nearly impossible to get a good tequila at a restaurant, to sip on after a good dinner. But when I am craving a sipper after dinner many restaurants have Don Julio Anejo, which is at least drinkable although I’d rather have any of your picks.
I did find a local restaurant where the head bartender is a fellow Tequila connoisseur and he stocks a big selection of all our favorite additive free Tequilas, but it’s like a 100 dollar per person restaurant, not one I can afford to visit very often. 😂
I'm with you. The DJ anejo is not bad, and it's usually the only decent option (if they even have that).
Yeah these tequilas he recommends are so hard to find unfortunately..
@@DK-pr9ny It seems to be pretty regional. I can easily find El Tesoro and Ocho, and Lalo is pretty common here too.
One more request/question. If there’s a link to such video from your channel please link it below. With that being said can you rank or suggest best Tequila bottles/brands (preferably blanco) for shots 🔥
Yall should try Casadragones, Fortaleza, Don Cayo, this are great and top tequilas, the downsides are that the are not really well known
@LuiFernades do you recommend codigo 1530 tequila?
This week I found Fortaleza at a store in Washington, DC (it also had G4 and lots of other surprising items). This was the first time that I found Fortaleza after months of searching. I will keep the location quiet. Just know that if you are in DC and you look long enough you will find it.
Hahahaha lucky you!
My parents built a house 400 meters up the road from the Casa Siete Leguas distillery. That area is known as Vistas de Atotonilco. Atotonilco is a BEAUTIFUL place to visit on the tequila trail.
Definitely agree with Lalo! Went to a blind tasting of additive free tequilas and Lalo and another new brand called Nueveuno blew the competition out of the park, even overshadowed G4 (least in my opinion)
How do I get an invite to one of those? haha
@@gijoey5912 Mine was at a local liquor store (Gaspar's liquor Shope - Tampa). If they have Instagram or Facebook, they will post events and tastings on there. Good luck!
Lalo is beautiful it’s wonderful! But! I like Don Julio it just fits my palette, I Love Both. Now will I stop drinking Don Julio? No. I will not. Will I cut back on Don Julio? yes. Consider it like eating unhealthy. Don’t do it often just once in a while. 😉😂 Cheers 🥃
Hey lui, I know this is all about tequila. But, what are your thoughts on pitú silver cachaça? I keep seeing it everywhere but I never just stumble upon anything I know to be good like Novo Fogo
I do not like Pitu, it's very industrialized. If you want something similar In quality as Novo Fogo I'd say Ajornada or Aguaviva are two brands I really like. Oh and Abelha is amazing if you can find it. But overall Novo Fogo are my top top choice
@@Lui_Fern also can you teach us more about cognac please? A lot of sites tell me that Hennessy is a "superb" cognac but there's no way I'm falling for that
@@joeyl669 Henny is a very mediocre cognac. I'm not super well versed in cognac but I will look to learn more to talk about it!
nice 😊
Can you do a piece on Don Fulano Tequila please.
It's always been my go-to because everyone has it. 😂 I'll def try other tequilas if they have them.
I was looking for Fortaleza everywhere, come to find out my local liquor has it stored in the back with no signage out front. If i hasn't spoke to the cashier about it, i would've never known they carried it all along.
Hahaha what luck!
Took me a long time to learn what real tequila should taste like. Not too many good ones where I live, but if you keep your eyes open and your wallet handy I stock up while they are available. I can honestly say I have only bought additive free tequila for several years now. My favourite blanco lately has been El Caballito Cerrero Blanco (46%) I know it’s not called tequila but an agave spirit but it is tequila and it’s made the old fashioned way. Flavour and nose are fantastic.
Make a video about Gran Patron Piedra and platinum
Try Don Julio Reposado - chill in refridge and do a shot with lime and salt if desired
No thanks. I'll just drink real good tequila
Lui, what is your definition of "agave" flavor because it seems like a lot of people have a different taste profile for it
There’s a lot of agave strains so it may not be so straightforward
@@ImGearsBeastbut tequila only uses blue agaves. Though they do vary in flavors depending on where it was grown and for how long.
To jack: there are few people who have actually tasted blue agave, really unless you go to a distillery it’s hard to find any. It’s a complex flavor, but it’s best described as earthy, vegetal, but with a fruity almost pineapple sweetness. Almost like a cooked sweet potato, with added earthy/mineral flavors. There also often an herbal flavor. And many people taste cinnamon baking spice flavors as well.
G4, lalo, mijenta, el tesoro, 7 leguas, el tequileno, chimarron. All delicious but I must say I been on a mezcal journey lately and Vida Del Maguey is so damn good. That smoky saltiness from it makes me want to sip the whole bottle lol
All the 1579 stuff has been pretty easy to find in Texas fortunately. Fortaleza not so much
I appreciate those recommendations. I am a long time Don Julio drinker and I will likely never put it to the side but always adding a wide variety of tequilas to what I drink.
Surprised you haven't done a video on Clase Azul yet
Working on it! But haven't been able to convince myself to pay $200 for a terrible tequila with a shiny bell 😂😂
@@Lui_Fern 😂😂
Unfortunately, all of these are unavailable where I live 😢
What is the best tequila to use in a long island ice tea. Thank You Joe H Navy Seabee
100% correct. Lalo is an amazing tequila. Can't wait for their repos and anejos to mature and hit the market. Also, everything from El Pandillo is AMAZING!
Lalo has stated they won’t be doing any except for blancos. Sure that could change but I wouldn’t hold my breath
I absolutely love how much Lui pours when doing a tasting!! I notice that he only pours a lot of the tequilas that he doesn't rate highly🤣😂
I wonder if he finishes the glass or pours it back into the bottle
Because of you I just stick with olmeca altos. Good price, Always at the store
woo!
I love that the self pours are becoming more generous with each video lmao...
That being said, my local craft cocktail cantina which has a lot of the brands you respect also has a Don Julio tasting flight. It can't be that bad can it?
What’s the most one should pay for a bottle of Fortaleza Reposado?
Should is a tough word to answer. But I'd say under $80 but it depends. It's such a great bottle.
0:55 ahh man I can truly tell the contempt and disgust in that aggressive OVER generous pour! hahaha. Also BIG PROPS to Siete Leguas! The Repo is in my Top 5 with the Blanco being a close #6. It is 1000% worth it to pay more over Julio. My ONLY complaint is they are a screw top which is a negative for me if I am paying more than $40. ANYTHING over $40 should be corked(whatever type just has to be sealed) NEVER screw top. If Tres Agaves at sub $30 can do it there is no excuse.
Hahaha it's hard to hide my emotions. And I weirdly completely agree with you on the top.
The biggest problem is ordering from a restaurant. You either have to find the bar and climb in the back and see what they have or you are stuck ordering from a waiter who knows nothing more than house/well tequila or Don Julio/Patron. If you start asking for anything fancy you get the deer in the headlights stare.
As soon as he poured the tequila into the glass I could freaking smell it 🫠
You're opinion on Kah, a gimmick?
I don’t believe Don Julio is verified additive free but their products don’t taste sweet to me? I do agree on the blandness.
I have tasted several organic additive free tequilas much much sweeter than Don Julio.
If anything I would think they may use texture enhancers or just colorants to standardize the look of their batches since they make soooo much.
What about Carrera Lou?
Dang, didn't know Don Julio is British owned. Not like I buy alcohol much at all. I guess now if I want to buy a tequila though, I know to scratch off don Julio from the options.
I wish I could find 7 Leguas for the price of Don Julio
I love tequilas and I most say Don Julio taste like alcohol is not for me. I love Lalo tequila smooth and you can taste how natural it is
JK - Gonna try that siete at least.
😂😂😂
I agree, Don Julio tastes mostly of alcohol and sugar, almost no agave flavor.
Crazy that people swear by it..
I'd suggest trying coralejo the blue bottle and the red bottle 👌
Man I can’t find Lalo or Volans anywhere in my state! But Don Julio is trash. But even as trash as it is, it’s still better than Jose.
hahahah it certainyl is better than Jose but thats not a very high bar to clear 😂😂
What state ?
Where you at? At the store I work at we sale so much lalo. I believe we actually sale the most lalo in the nation. We sold so much that lalo actually came to visit us
Lalo is overrated
@@Lui_Fernwhat do you think of Herradura?
I’m starting to think you just don’t like popular brands.
I gave up on Don Julio a couple of years ago because Diajo has ruined this brand. Then again I normally only Anejo Tequila.
"Minerality"
Perhaps the Don Julio Blanco is inferior to other Blancos, but the Don Julio Anejo is still a great product.
I'd strongly, and I mean STRONGLY disagree.
@@Lui_Fern Clearly, but here you're also comparing a Blanco to a Reposado... So I'm taking your opinion with a grain of salt. Snobs always love to hate on the mainstream brands. And yes, I've tried many tequilas, including a tour in Mexico. The DJ Anejo is not bad.
@@richardjames123 hahaha 🤣 sounds good pal. Happy Wednesday. Enjoy your "amazing Don Julio"
@@Lui_Fern Never said it was amazing. Great job on demeaning your audience. You sound like a chipmunk by the way.
What do you mean don't drink DJ? It's one of the best tequilas. It's a classic. It's like Jack but better.
Grandson’s are doing the lord’s work:
Sauza grandson = fortaleza
Don Julio grandson = Lalo
I only drink casamigos
Ew
I just taste pickle
I have nothing but respect for you, but it’s looks like you are trying to make people think that the common brands of tequilas are not the only ones (quality ones)???
Yeah for the most part they suck. All the tequila he's presenting is easy to get and taste great. Don Julio is terrible, it use to be great .
Yeah pretty much. It's almost like the most "popular" brands are the ones you can find everywhere because they have marketing dollars to spend on placements and can get into every major store and bar create this inverse effect where because people see these brands everywhere it MUST mean they're good right? And of course it's not every single one but a lot of the most popular tequilas are actually horrible. Examples: Casamigos, Teramana, Don Julio, Sauza.
😁
I bet he drinks Jose Cuervo under the table! 🤣😂
“Let’s give this one a taste”
Consistently pours 2/3 the volume of a glencairn 😂
Lmao are you a cop? 😂😂

hahahaha i appreciate you @@mmwosu
Why are you pouring so much just to taste it? Lol
If you think don julio taste sweeet than holy crap I don’t want your taste buds lol 😆 I feel lik when it comes to a popular well known brand you just don’t prefer them n instead you go for the quiet brands..blanco tequila really isn’t a sipper anyways
"Blanco Tequila isn't really a sipper anyways" tells me everything you think. Lol ...
Blanco Tequila is actually the most honest expression of tequila and what the master distiller intended it to taste like. If you think a spirit that takes 6-7 years to make shouldn't taste good to sip because you think it needs to be aged to enjoy? Then the marketing dollars have worked wonders on you.
@@Lui_Fern bro just say you like blancos.. if the spirit is good quality and aged properly they taste better. No way around that. Only people getting shammed are those drinking mixtos and cristalinos.
@@iCEBERG711 that's just not true man. Aging something doesn't always make it taste better. Its not a magic process lol
@@Lui_Fern well fun fact I work for diageo as one of their account reps and if u take a poll guess what majority of ppl prefer to sip ? a repo or anejo..the ppl I see sip a blanco are customers that say they don’t want to spend the extra few bucks 😉
@@ChristopherWB good thing I'm not polling the general publics opinion literally anything. 👍

Who TF drinks Don Julio blanco??? Get your bag up and get the DJ 70 man
Lol the 70 is just a scam. It's more expensive but it's equally crap lol.
@@Lui_Fern lol why does the DJ 70 from Mexico taste much better than the American one?
@@luissosa9475 so from what I know tequila in Mexico is proofed lower than in the u.s. I believe most tequila in Mexico can be proofed at 35% whereas in the u.s it has to be 40% due to laws. So that's one major factor.
Drink 7 Leguas instead. Forgot to say it´s more expensive
This guy always over fills his Glencairn.
What are you? A cop?
It should be illegal for Mexican brands to sell out. Mexico can be so much if it protected it’s tequilas n houses.
Its a Blanco. You are expecting the flavors of the añejo in a Blanco? You are not credible
How am I expecting the flavors of an añejo in a Blanco? Do you know what a well made Blanco is supposed to taste like?
Exactly…. All non-aged liquor lack in flavor. Then suggesting they use additives when we have no way to prove it is just bad practice.
YO U ALWAYS WASTE SO MUCH ALCOHOL BY OVER POURING WAY TOO MUCH 😂😂😂 U LITERALLY JUST LET THE ALCOHOL TOUCH UR TONGUE AND NEVER TAKE A REAL SIP 😂😂😂
I've tried Siete Leguas and Lalo. Don Julio is better.
Y'know something? I LOVE Don Julio Tequila! I think their Reposado, Anejo and 1942 are SUBLIME and I'm getting sick and tired of this guy's routine of putting down any tequila that is highly successful in the marketplace. I have to wonder if he's getting paid to be a brand ambassador for esoteric brands that nobody's ever heard of and nobody stocks in their stores. If you want to expose the public to little known brands, that's all well and good but putting down brands that sell well and telling people "Stop drinking this" and "Don't drink this" sounds suspiciously like someone with a marketing agenda. What is also suspicious is how he keeps coming out with "The 3 Best Tequilas" which are always three new brands no one's ever heard of! I guarantee you the top brands do not sell well because they suck!
Your last sentence: you couldn't be more wrong and you don't have a CLUE of what you're talking about.
Tequila, unfortunately, is as much, if not more about packaging than what's inside the bottle. Patron, Don Julio, Teremana, Casamigos: these are all big brands that are really subpar tequilas when compared to the Ochos, G4's, Siete Leguases and Gran Pasiones of the tequila world.
What's happened is most gringos fall for the packaging and aren't tasting a variety of tequilas to discern what is good and what is bad.
My family is from the same town, Atotonilco el Alto, where Patron, Don Julio, Siete Leguas and Casamigos are made. Nobody there drinks anything but Siete Leguas. Siete Leguas is additive free. You can't say the same for Casamigos or Don Julio and probably the same goes for Patron as well.
People do drink the top brands DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY SUCK. People just don't know any better and are saps. They've fallen susceptible to the marketing.
Lui is on point, too. What he's saying is "stop drinking Don Julio because there is way better tequila on the market nowadays" and he's right. He's 100% right. I stopped drinking Don Julio a long time ago. Once Diageo bought the brand, they started adulterating it. It's not the same as when Don Julio was alive.
And believe me, I know what I'm talking about. My family is intricately involved in the tequila industry. My grandfather was actually richer than Don Julio. My uncle cultivated agave for Don Julio. My grandfather bought Don Julio's house off of him so Don Julio could move to Guadalajara. He left the house to my aunt who passed away a year ago and now my cousin, Patty, owns it. It's a bar/restaurant now.
Who are YOU to tell anyone what to drink or not ? Apart from your obvious own personal disdain for large Spirit Corporations .....you show a complete lack of common spirit intelligence by going to trouble setting up and recording a video on "comparisons" and THEN comparing a Reposado against a Blanco ! Everyone's taste buds are different and every spirit product usually taste different to different people . When you show a personal disdain for something and then go on and bash all categories of that something , you yourself should be put into the classification of "No Valid Merit"
😂😂😂😂 I'm just a dude who owns a bar and makes videos. Don't like my opinion? Great. Don't watch my stuff lol.
Cope & Seethe while we enjoy actual quality Tequila, something you clearly know nothing about.
@@violentneon2999 Replying with an insignificant reply show's (0) reading skills . The vast majority of individuals do NOT sip Tequila neat but in margaritas or several other cocktails. There are probably 500 brands of almost every major category of alcohol these days, Snobbish opinions and bashing items just because YOU don't like it or prefer to lift YOUR methods of drinking over other ways may just be able to get "clicks" on social media !
glad to see that people are starting to seek out good real tequilas. most of the expensive stuff is just sugary swill, like dj 70 and 1942. yes some brands are worth paying alot for, but do your homework. if you can drink it without any of that cool burn goin down, then you are just paying for nothing
Y los whiskies?
i love patron
There is a lot better tequila on the market. Patron is the master at packaging. The product inside the bottle doesn't compare to Siete Leguas, Ocho or Gran Pasion.
