I was at Total Wine recently and they were giving out samples of Pantalones. I was disappointed because the flavor was much too rich and it had a weird texture to the way it coats the mouth. A few weeks later I asked a store employee for a recommendation between El Tesoro Reposado and Siete Leguas Añejo, because I wanted to buy one and then the other at a later time. But he immediately said “don’t buy those, buy Pantalones instead, it’s the best and hottest one on the market now”. I immediately saw a red flag because he was clearly trying to push that product. After that I left and bought a bottle of Tequila Ocho Reposado at a different store, and I loved it.

Tried these at Total Wine, I thought that they almost had a Barqs cream soda kind of flavor to them, one more than the other, TW had some promotional sale going on, but I passed and went for the G4 Blanco, best buy ever.
I always thought the pictures of Matthew McConaughey & his wife riding through an Agave field on motorcycles with no pants on was kind of funny. To me it was kind of like making fun of Casamigos.
What I don’t understand is how a distillery that makes an awesome tequila, also makes a bad one ? Or they add the bad stuff after they buy it? Isn’t that not good advertising for the distillery?
It's not the distiller's choice often. It's the brand owners. That's exactly what I wanted to highlight by comparing them. Sometimes the brand comes in and says " I want it to taste like this " and then throws the best work of the distillery out the window.

Agreed. Sampled it begrudgingly at Total Wine yesterday. Surprisingly, not as bad as I had expected, but far from anything I would pay to drink. Zero personality with plenty of cloyingly sweet artificial flavor.
This is actually additive free. You guys are listening to a guy that knows not of what he's drinking. He also didn't sample the best one, the Anejo. It's a double gold medal winner.
Sorry to break this to you Lui, but Cazcanes just came in last place on a five reposado blind tasting by Curiosity Public trio. Tapatio was first place, followed by Seite Leguas, El Tequileno and Don Fulano then Cazcanes reposado. The high end tequila like Atanasio and Cazcanes are more hype then substance. Me, I’m a big fan of Mala Vida, El Tequileno, 123 Organic Tequila and Seite Leguas. Looking forward to trying Tau Tequila and Cobalto tequila in the near future.
Sorry to break it to you, but I’ve blind tasted Cazcanes’s Blancos and their barrel rested expressions with those very same brands and many others, and Cazcanes scored top in many of my blind tastings. Especially their higher proof No.9 line 😙🤌🏽🤤 I love Public Curiosity, too, I learn so much about the Tequila spirit through them, but as fellow Tequila UA-camrs like Tequila Hombre & Lou Agave have put it, blind taste them yourself to see which are your favorites. Don’t just take their words for it. Tres Agaves also tastes great for their price. It’s even ranked higher for me than Lalo in blind tastes. Anyway, maybe you blind tasted Cazcanes against those same brands, too, and you feel the same way as Public Curiosity, which is all fine, but I’ve learned it’s best to come from personal tasting experience whenever you get the chance.
I’ll admit, though, Cszcanes’s No.7 line is okay. Their No.9 line and their No.10 really punch through even when I blind tasted them again other similar proof tequilas.

However, the actually initial palate taste is just okay. I wouldn’t rate that top. But the finish is something special. I honestly have appreciated that in my earlier tequila tasting days, though.

Not really sure why it matters if MCConaughey or his wife have a connection to Mexico lol. They probably like Tequila the most and wanted to make a liquor. Is Ryan Reynolds connected to Britain or Holland (for Gin) or Dan Aykroyd connected to Poland or Russia (for his Vodka brand). Just an odd thing to criticize i'd say. That being said, good review on the taste!
Not surprising. His Wild Turkey expression bombed. I couldn't understand Wild Turkey partnering with him to make the worst of their lineup. He must have paid them a fortune. And calling this 'Pants"???? What's up with that? High pressure autoclave for cooking the agave, and a roller mill for grinding the crap out of it.Both are high volume, low quality processes. My guess is the agave is only a few years old at best, as well. No thanks.
I'm a rep for Pantalones. It is 100% additive free, so this video is misleading. The sweetness you are tasting is from the 100% organic high quality blue agave. You didn't even sample the best one, the Anejo, which is a double gold medal winner. It's rested in American oak whiskey barrels for 15 months. The viscosity is silky. You get the oils and flavor of the oak. Many bourbon lovers have told me that they enjoy the Anejo because of this. I'm usually a Reposado guy, but in this line the Anejo is the winner. You may not appreciate the flavor, but I have no problem selling it once the customer tastes it Especially at it's price point of $50 for a quality Anejo.
