Wow thanks so much Scott - super helpful tutorial... love the personal touch of special effects and wow factors. But really appreciate you taking the time to walk us through a fairly complex game system that looks like a ton of fun!
I totally agree, I think they have nailed it here.. It's a lighter in nature than many other war games. There is no need for a more complexed system when you play with advanced rules. But you can create personal battle fields from satellite photos if you want,(you know where to find them) each time. You can even make it a war between two nations that lasts over a longer period of time , where a won battle gaines your country more ground
Just found your channel on BGG. Was interested in this game, so I watched your review. Very well done! Really gave me a clear picture of what the game is about and how it works. I'm going to subscribe to your channel and look forward to seeing some more of your reviews. Thanks again!
A very good video- clear explanation of the components and gameplay of Battlelore. Scott is a pro. My only gripe would be "horsies." No idea why he says it that way.
Thanks for the great video! I was browsing around for more info about this game because I wasn't sure about buying it or not and your video helped a lot, keep up the good work! ( only one thing though... It would've been nice if you explained what the helmets on the dices do)
@ORCA4312 The other big issue I had was with the lore cards which comprised the starting deck. I am not a fan of having so many cards for which neither player has the appropriate character.
Nice overview. I am late to this party but, based on this and other reviews, I like the 1st edition over the 2nd edition. I will have to peruse Ebay and see what is out there.
I have decided after seeing this review that this game is just a bit too complex for me right now. Perhaps I'll feel more ready to tackle this game in the future. :3
@snicholson dont know if youve played these games but how would this compare with Descent, Battles over Westeroes, DungeonQuest, and Shadows over Camelot?
This is way to similar to Memoir 44 for me to be willing to buy it. Thanks for showing the game mechanics because i would have been very upset after opening the box.
@cedhew20 The whole Magic/Lore element adds some different levels of strategy to the game, as well as theme. As you get into it, you can customize what types of powers you'll have available to you. You have to decide if magical powers are a good thing for this kind of game.
hi scott! im new to fantasy games like these and also i wanted to know does this game have magic in it because i really want this game but my mom dosnt let me have anything with wizards dragon vampires etc. and aslo is this game playable by the expansion sets? because i want to play a game like this but im very short on money if this game does have magic could you recommend any other good games like these that have nothing like that and are at a cheap price if you can get back to me thank you!
One thing about this game - a few of the rules are a bit nonsensical. The one that springs to mind is that a single doll which rolls well can kill two or more enemy dolls. Assuming we were playing correctly - the number of dolls in the attacking unit is irrelevant. This feels very wrong to me, and we brought in a house rule to limit kills to the number of attackers.
Was wondering what the first edition of this game looked like, thanks for the video!
We need more Scotts in this world. The absolute BEST!

@Legotian Yes, this has magic in it. You should look at Memoir '44 for a similar game without Magic.

This is a really cool series, great work!
Thanks for the review and run through.

@lehcar80 You have to be in their sponsorship program, so they can add ads to your videos.
thanks for the vid on this game, sorry about your kitty, I had many cats pass away on me.
@Charrister Now that I'm not making so many videos, I have more time to actually enjoy games!

Do you get enough time to play all the games you have?
Apparently I'm late to the party lol. Just finished memoir 44 and now starting battlelore

...Is it odd that I didn't realize cats could get cancer?
How can you upload a video over 10:00 minutes on UA-cam?
But I like to punch tokens myself :(
Horseys?
