  • It's not yet Halloween but join me in part two of the University Of Guyana Golden Jubilee tour. My point is simple; both major political parties are responsible for this as are you if you have attended this institution and continue to hold your tongue in silence because a chorus of voices demanding something can be impactful. I hold the PPP responsible for allowing the continued devastation of the Education system they took over because they used our taxes to send their kids and family abroad whilst making themselves comfortable with the proceeds of corruption and nepotism. I blame the Coalition because after almost one year in office signs point to much of the same despite a frenzied clean up effort which seems to have slowed significantly post LGE. What of next year, after we find hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on throwing a party with very little having been done to stimulate real economic growth and pardon me but not a lot of progress to celebrate.
Real growth is the product of real investment in such things as the long neglected potential trapped in the human resource around us. It is reported that up to 85% of UG graduates leave and I genuinely wonder whether our politicians have asked themselves why that is. We continue to endorse political polarity and blame shifting at the expense of our collective future. The students of UG have now protested two successive governments and met with different presidents, the latest being David Granger, and left with promises their plight will be addressed. Part two of this series details more of the students' concerns as I follow day into night with student body president Joshua Griffith. If the standards being set for the youth of today are any indication of the low standards future leaders will hold themselves to, then this tour becomes truly terrifying. If the present administration, like the one before, can find the money for lavish salary increases and luxury vehicles, why are university students who will be paying their salaries, forced to tolerate this? Real Guyana will continue to put UG under the microscope with follow up videos in the series taking a closer look at such issues as student fees, the administration, future direction and potential of the facility ranked 5715 in the world.
If we can pay for Peter to drive a Prado, how come Paul has to go barefoot? Over to you.

Very nice, but after a few minutes it sounds like a video to criticise the university instead of advertising it.
