No, it started when calling the black board a black board was not allowed around 1980 it had to be called the chalk board......
Ironically shortly after they were replaced by white boards.....which was fine terminology......

What an amazing head teacher ! We need more like him, including teaching children to grow food etc. I taught in the 70s/80s my daughter teaches now and what she has to deal with is frightening, children flipping tables, etc
Many years we had to warn children from roaming the streets.
Now we have to warn children about the dangers of staying inside bedrooms all day long..

At my daughter’s school, they take time during class to make Mothers day cards to take home. Not for Father’s Day though, which is weird.

@@villa_fan8882 That's what the papers reported when I first read about it, 2-3 years back now. Fatherless children felt left out when class were making father's day cards.

It's the Mommy Culture at work for the past 40 years, which nobody wants to acknowledge. It seems to have started with the rise of child psychology in the 60s and 70s (Dr. Spock, for example) and then spread to the women's magazines. There began the idea of getting boys more in touch with their feelings, and even more in touch with their female side (if such a thing exists), and the increasing of sensitivity. It was ok to cry, and then cry some more. Fathers were relegated more and more to the position of support staff for the mother, while she took more and more command of running the family.
And then there was the introduction of the false disorder: ADD, now ADHD, as a way to suppress normal male behavior. And while the "softening" of boys increased, naturally so did the feminizing of them and the demonizing of normal, young male behavior until it morphed into this thing they call toxic masculinity.
This Mommy Culture permeates the education system, the entertainment industry, sports, media, and the corporate world, and from my vantage point is getting exponentially worse year after year.
Nothing wrong with crying. Something very one with people branding you as toxic for not crying.

I read not long ago that (off the top of my head) about 30% of school leavers are sub par on the basics of reading writing and mathematics.

There's a private school in Ascot for special needs which has been called the Eton of Autistic schools
Many years ago they had a lot of headcases going there

Why are they 'girls' hairstyles? Guys in the 70s had long hair and throughout history fashions have changed for mens' hairstyles. Men wore long, flowing wigs in Charles 1 time and it did not affect their masculinity. How can you be de-masculinised by a hairstyle?
