Great video ladies! A sweep worked for me! So glad I avoided my planned induction appointment!

Had my membranes swept at 40 weeks and despite how very painful it was... I didn't have the baby until 13.5 days later. I went into spontaneous labor hours before scheduled induction, which I scheduled for 42 weeks.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend.

It's a good idea to rethink this, precisely because the pain and discomfort of "sweeping" or "stripping" outweighs its efficacy. It seems some people think this move spares you the pain and cascading problems of a full induction, but actually it's only an exercise in intrusion and your tolerance of that intrusion. Thanks, great video as always! Have you posted the video you mentioned about other methods for bringing on labour, I couldn't see it? (Also, did the little pregnant doggie have her babies?) :)

In the U.S. they call this getting "checked". It's a pretty standardized part of practice (who knows why) at 37 weeks in an obgyn office, but as was mentioned in the video does not predict when baby or labor will begin!

Kelly Reynolds , here's a good video about refusing checks at the end of pregnancy in the U.S.- ua-cam.com/video/9fuWDfflQTs/v-deo.html

Getting "checked" is different than membrane sweeping or stripping. A woman should give informed consent for a sweep. Getting checked is when the practitioner feels the cervix to see if it is opening or effaced (thinning and softening). Sweeping is when the cervix is already open (at least a centimeter) and they insert their finger and actually sweep it around inside to separate the lower part of the bag of waters from the uterus. These are two different procedures and a woman should not be "swept" without knowing what it is and without giving permission. Unfortunately, I think this happens too often without her consent.

WOW! I did not know that! Seems ridiculous to have a vaginal examination at 37 weeks let alone a sweep. Most women will be nowhere near going into labour. Thanks for your comment x

Kelly Reynolds a membrane sweep is not the same as a cervical check. A Dr or midwife will sweep your membranes during a cervical check, yes.. but they're not the same thing.

I would suggest you don’t eat or drink in your videos. It’s really distracting and loud. :)

I would suggest you do whatever you like to keep yourselves comfortable in your videos. You don't need to be doing these videos and us mama's really appreciate it. We're talking about pregnancy labor delivery and postpartum. When in context, a sip from a cup of coffee is not something that bothers me and most in the slightest. Honestly, I think it's rather rude that somebody would even criticize that. We're all human. People are really going to criticize somebody for drinking coffee when they are doing a video for free for your help? I think that's a bit silly 😂 from the majority of us women, and men, eat and drink as you like

@@christinayarmolyuk9808 Yeah you’re right. I was super pregnant and hormonal and easily annoyed when I initially watched this. I’m better now. Lol.
