I've owned a lot of silly German cars. BMWs . Mercedes, including AMG. I've had an SQ5 for 4 years now. It's simply a stunning all rounder. What can I replace it with? Truth is.......nothing comes close. Happy to keep it!
P N ,I had a really high spec one which was unfortunately involved in a big accident last spring which was repaired poorly, After a lot of hassle with the repairer and insurance company I sold it and replaced it with an RS3 and I’m already looking for another Sq5 as I think it’s the perfect daily, it’s practical, fast and flys under the radar.
Really good review thanks which contributed to my decision to buy an SQ5 almost a year ago now. It is truly a superb car - I can't fault it on any aspect and love it for all that it gives back to you as a driver. Like lots of us, I've owned many cars and I've tried to own cars that I've always really fancied and the SQ5 was one of those. However, the difference between the SQ5 and the other cars I've owned is that I still get a thrill when I walk up to it and look at the design; when I sit in the drivers seat and shut the door I have to take a deep breath its so good; and obviously, when I drive it, its just brilliant. Oh yes.....and it's bloody quick too!!
Got any advice on this guys? Developed an annoying sunroof rattle which isn't that uncommon on some audis apparently. How can this be sorted without going to an audi dealer? Is it a lube issue or what? Any ideas? Many thanks.
Would be interesting to see how you fit back there, if you could place the camera somewhere so we can sort of see how comfortable the back seats are. I think that's definitely something to consider when you buy a big sporty car :)
you mean how to place the camera? If you have a camera man then they can hold the camera for you while you are sitting on the back seat (like on Autogefühl videos) or, a simple tripod could work
Funnily enough im looking at this car because I've got a husky, a 2 year old and a wife with lots of luggage haha, but more to the point im swapping a C63 2013 fully packed out, and the fact you like the sound of the sq5 is a big point for me. I was a bit dubious on a diesel from the renowned NA 6.2 V8. But i think youve just ticked the box for me. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I had a C63 in the past too, 2014. Its never gonna sound like that I'm afraid but for a diesel its pretty good. what else have you considered?
PetrolHeads London was looking at a Porsche panamera, SQ5, ml350 or gl350 The SQ5 has the better sound i think of all of them and looks really comfortable. I've had 2 mercs and 2 BMW's so thought may aswell give Audi a go Looking at spending 35-45k on a used approved
Good review mate. Put all that effort into hiding the reg at the front and then show it on the back 😅 hoping to get one of these at the end of the year. CANNOT WAIT!! Will likely put an eco map on it and empty the DPF out too 😉
Got one eventually, wow what a car, monsoon grey black edition panoramic roof with a rattle which is getting sorted under warranty from main dealers 21 inch wheels looks the pooches plums I had a glc 350 amg as I couldn’t find a good sq5 after getting rid of a6, I have to say the glc looked good and the bermister sound system was exquisite but unfortunately that’s where it ended with the merc, build quality wasn’t as good as sq5 but also the seats were absolutely crap the drivers seat( made from VINYL not leather) surface delaminated from the threads on the cushion bolster went to merc under warranty and they didn’t want to know they said I was getting in and out of the car wrong😱😱😱I didn’t know you could do that anyway that’s the straw that broke the camels back and it only had 37000 miles on it, anyhow back with Audi and couldn’t be happier real leather seats and an absolutely brilliant car😎😎😎😎
Question: What are the headlights like? I have a Q7 and the lights are atrocious and it's made me think twice about buying another Audi. I am looking at SQ5s but won't bother if the lights are also rubbish.
PetrolHeads London Tom - I’m not really a fan of SUVs, but with the advancing years I’m finding getting out of a car a bit of an effort. With an SUV, however, the seat is at @rse height so it’s just a sideways slide to get in and out! I also like the load carrying ability of SUVs so I’m seriously thinking of one for my next car. Being an Audi fan, the natural choice is a Q5 but I really don’t want to spend upwards of £38K on a car and I have no need for 4WD with the sort of driving I do. So I’m thinking VW Tiguan, Skoda Karoq, Seat Ateca (essentially the same car underneath) or maybe Peugeot 3008 about which I’m reading rave reviews. And that’s about as far as I’ve got in my research.
I’ve got an a6 avant 08 model, great car, then saw the sq5, have looked at the new model and don’t like it compared to your model also it’s a Petrol mpg will be poor, the model you have in my opinion looks better
Hi, in the market for an SQ5 moving from my M135i due to a baby on the way. Looking at likely at 2015 reg with under 40K miles. Can i ask what year yours is and what mileage it has? I assume it is a the 309bhp / 313ps model? Also, any reliability issues or the dreaded squeaky pan roof? Ive had a few massive issues under warranty with a previous nearly new Audi and have a number of friends that have had issues too so being out of warranty with an SQ5 is the only thing giving me 2nd thoughts. I'll likely take the plunge and just go for an aftermarket warranty though if i find one that is actually worth having
Hi yes it’s a 3.0v6 diesel. Awesome car. Think it’s 326bhp but super torquey. 0-60 is 5.1 only .2 slower than my old v6 ftype. Good residue son them too. Mine also has the panoramic roof they are hard to find took 6 months ton track this one down. Are you in london?
@@PetrolHeadsLdn Thanks for the info. Not in London, im further up North a few miles from Leeds Bradford Airport. Think this is defo a car i am going to have to go and test drive then. Appreciate the reply my friend. Simon
@@PetrolHeadsLdn .... Yep that TWAT S.Khan, has a lot to answer for, including extending the Zone to the M25 , FFs !!, so much so i've swapped my 15 plate SQ5, to another one ,17 Plate SQ5 Plus+ with the ad- Blue tank.... Fantastic SUV

It is an awesome car. Just can’t quite fine a reason to sell mine.
Traded in a 2011 Audi S4 DCT W Sport Diff for 2014 SQ,5. This is my first SUV and I love it! Thanks for the very informative review.
Yes me too been toying with flogging but think well keep it for a while. Maybe answer s4?

Awesome. Yes love mine. Not sure what’s credible replacement is. New sq5 doesn’t cut it.
@@PetrolHeadsLdn Agreed. Only an RS6 springs to mind but I appreciate it's not a like for like comparison!

You won’t be disappointed, it’s a bloody awesome car. The only downside is it’s not ulez compliant and sadly ours will have to go at some point.
@@PetrolHeadsLdn that’s a shame about you having to bc get rid due to the emission rules☹️☹️☹️
Fantastic review there 👍 I live in London aswell and am looking at either one of these or a golf r estate. Which one would you recommend? Thanks
Only downer is ulez. So although the diesel sq5 here is arguably the better car it’s not ULEZ compliant. I love the sq5 awesome car.
awesome vid
Good review pal I'm in the market for one now .
Thanks, its a great car enjoy the search!

Seem fine on mine never really had any reason to complain.

all great cars and so well built and most loaded with goodies. id hold fire see what happened to all those diesels - price set to fall!
Gd morning
What's the real world mpg like?
Hmm good question remind 30s need to do a proper test
i can get 42mpg highway and about 31-33 around town
It’s got to be my next car
Its great, id consider another Audi, id love an RS6 but not sure budget makes it possible! What else have you considered?

And the new model has ‘fake’ exhausts tips instead of the proper quad pipes like this one... WTF is that about Audi!?
Thats better than the range sprt
I agree sadly had to gondue to ulez

Great SUV .......... i've got one
It really is. But with the new ulez might need to swap it out. What would you choose

I love the SQ5 but it is in no way comparable to a Range Rover Sport.. SQ7 perhaps.
