  • A recent study on a prescription-strength version of fish oil is raising some questions and concerns about its true benefits.
Vascepa® was approved three years ago after a study showed it could reduce triglyceride levels and even reduce the risk of cardiac complications.
But now a conflicting study has been published by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
This most recent study showed the opposite results.
Even though the original study was very promising, this most recent study did not confirm the original findings.
We need continued research to make sure of the benefits.

After taking Vascepa I had a heck of a time with Afib for a year and a half. I even had an ablation but still had problems with Afib. I took myself off of Vascepa and now am not having reoccurring Afib.

I actually have icosapent ethyl the generic of vacepa because my insurance pays for it. Without Insurance it's like $330 a bottle
      1gram pills. 4 pills a day
It takes a min of 3 months of taking the pills to see the results. I stopped after 1 month because I saw no result and was Informed I didn't do it long enough

Keith, thank you for posting that, it's helpful. I'm not a doctor. My doctor is renown, the editor of a major medical journal and the head of a dept. at a major university hospital. He thinks Vascepa works. In my case it seems to be helping, my labs are better, but I don't always attribute taking a med to changes in my labs. Cause and effect can be hard to pin down. Some people are the opposite, like the lady I talked to that swears after taking vitamins for one day she feels miraculously better. My labs are better but there is no proof it's the Vascepa, but it's likely the Vascepa is working for me. And I have doctors I trust saying it works for their patients. This video that almost no one has viewed is highly suspect to me because in the comments it does not link the study that it refers to. Also, in the comments it says "For more information on Vascepa®, visit our website www.leonardpiankomd.com", and you go there and I could find nothing about Vascepa at all. This is bogus, just more total BS on the Internet.

The Dr. Is comparing two different compounds. Vascepa is EPA only. The study he is referring to is EPA + DHA...
