- The current class of drugs used to treat cholesterol is called statins which include Crestor, Lipitor and you take them every day. They are very safe and work well.
But for some people, statins are not enough. And for some people, taking statins every day can be burdensome.
A new drug that can safely cut cholesterol by 50% was approved by health authorities in England.
It’s hoped that the drug - called inclisiran - could prevent 55,000 heart attacks and strokes and save more than 30,000 lives over the next decade.
