- Fleetwood Mac performs the hit song "Sara" at a concert at Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, CA. 6-22-04
Don't miss the Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham flirting in the end...classic performance! Cold night, so Stevie had EXTRA layers on!
(Brett Tuggle is playing keyboards)
It's amazing how well she sings so many years later.
Released in 1979 on the Tusk album .Gorgeous song with that Beautiful intro !
This is possibly the best live version of Sara yet (pity about the quality)... Stevie puts so much into it, it's beautiful
i was there when they debuted it in pocatello idaho 1979 and it still holds the magic. a true masterpiece from my queen
i can't believe how much she puts into this!
so much, everywhere
she flys in every single note of it, flies!
Stevie is still beautiful and talented. I can't believe she's almost 60!! She still rocks no matter what her age!!!!
I agree. It doesn't matter what she looks like. This song and the many others that she has applied her beautiful voice to are an eternal thing of beauty.
She will be 65 this year and She is Still The Most Beautiful Lady EVER!
Wow their music is timeless, sounds as good as ti did back then, seems they get better with ages, and it brings back so many memories that touched my heart, and their music was comfort toem when I was really ill, and they let me have a radio in my hospital room and someone called the radio station and asked them to play this song for me , they did and it means mroe now than before . Thank you Fleetwood Mac for being their!!
Magician 2006
wow wow wow, I did NOT know she did this live in 2004, I last heard that she never ever sings it live again clear back from the original year of release but here it is and no, age is not always generous, I am 51 but I crank sara Live version up full blast and it makes me feel as free as an 18 yr old again...thank you so much
I know this comment is 16 years old but whatever I’ll share a little info here for other people who are watching and might be wondering. Stevie has said that Sara is a song that she doesn’t really do live because it didn’t “translate” well onstage but she in fact sang it on every tour, solo and Fleetwood Mac, since it came out in 1979 (tusk tour) through to her solo tour for the Rock A Little album in 1986. Now, I may be wrong, but I believe that this tour was the first time she had sang Sara live since the RAL tour. If she did it on a tour in between ‘86 and here, I would say it would’ve been on the Other Side of the Mirror tour in 1989, but I’m pretty sure she didn’t perform it on that one. So, with the performances of Sara on this tour in 2004, it had been the first time she sang it in concert since 1986 AND the first time she sang it in concert with Fleetwood Mac since the Mirage tour in 1982. It must have been a HUGE gift for big fans who waited for so long to hear it live again. She still performs it today, but it’s still not a mainstay in her set list for some reason. Both times I caught her live, she didn’t do it, but she did it on other shows during that same tour. I was so bummed because it’s my favorite song. I hope to hear it live at least once in my life. She sang it on her 2023 tour and sounded even better than she did here.
I still get goosebumps from the very first notes... LUVS ya, Stevie !
this is my favorite song of all time
seriously I'm obsessed with that guitar solo. I wish I had it on my ipod.
I love this song...probably my favorite Mac song, why isn't there more of this on youtube?
stevie....you're the poet in MY heart.
I am glad you gave of yourself and decided to do this song live again after nearly 25 years I believe....Thank you
excellent performance... and the classic twirl at the end was the cherry on top!
Finally! The allll I ever waaaanted version. I thought I imagined it since that version isn’t on Spotify
Wonder Woman spin! You go Stevie! Lindsay's guitar at the end is awesome!
this song always takes me away...
awesome Stevie!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I saw the first leg of the tour before she put this song in the set and was so upset when i missed it on the end of the tour. Thank you! I don't know why she waited so long to take this to the stage - because contrary to what she thought, I think it transfers to the stage VERY well. LOVE the spins at the end!
Excellent footage. thanks!!!
Wonderful song
Thank you for posting. This is one of the best bands of our time!!!
Landslide proves they love each other he almost cried
She has the most beautiful alto voice of anyone out there.
Stevie's best song ever, imo. Thanks for video.
I was there, front & center at her feet ... the one holding up the roses!
Check out Stevie singing Sara recently on PBS,s Soundstage 2008...GREAT!
Her voice was as tight as it ever was on this tour
No. Christine McVie decided to retire after the 1998 "The Dance" reunion. I saw FM in 2005 in Raleigh, NC. Great show and Sara was an awesome surprise! This footage is from the Say You Will album. Chris is actually on this album, too.
It will be great when her new album is out.. I am sure it will be very interesting. Lindsey records a song with her. An album with the two of them "Nicks & Buckingham" would definitely be a blast after all these years...
I AM SO JEALOUS. REALLY. she is so cute. i loved her little outfit and hairdo.
i Read that it was about Stevie friend Sara, and that the "Great Dark Wing" line was when Mick drove up to her house and Sara was there, buts also about Don Henley.. and some other stuff
Nice
Stevie,we could have been so good together,if only our paths had crossed before now
@railfan95
61! no shit! I love her music and she looks great!
One of the most gorgeous women ever, you can sing to me all you want, beautiful.
good to see lindsey there
John McVie on bass!
Inspired by this song I named my daughter Sarai...
Peccato per l'audio. Grande Stevie
All through the 80s I swore that if i ever had a daughter, she would be called Rhiannon but the name became so popular that when it happened we called her Kelly. Maybe Sara could have been a second option.
Thin, heavy, it doesn't matter... She's gorgeous... Take me to the sea of love sweetheart, you're perfect... Drowning, Drowning.....
He plays just for her
If you research your question, you will find the answer. Don Henley has openly commented on this song. I think you will find out why.
@05Valentia Don't believe everything you read: in one interview Joe Wals is the love of her life, in another one Don Henly, sometimes Lindsey Buckingham.
Being an artist, doing a lot of drugs, performing with a man she separated from perhaps she maybe created her own fantasyworld. Once I read that she only stopped loving L.B. when he got his first child. I also read that when she was asked if perhaps, maybe, in the future she and L.B. could be a couple again, she answered "over my dead body".
Did anybody record Red Rover?
If she STILL does, than it's not so fine
for Mrs. Buckingham and their 3 children.
I personally think it's an act, because that's what the public wánts to see and
think. It's part of the magic of The Mac.
her best mate sarah had a fling with lindsey well after they broke up she's a gem
Why does she not like to perform this one live?
Calm down. I'm just stating what i have read, from one of her Biographies, one fleetwood Mac biography, Servel interviews i have seen and Mick Fleetwoods Auto Biography.
Great song I lvoe it to death but it sounds so different without Chris on the Keyboards :(
RT #brending
Let's face it sweetheart. Stevie's not really arsed about what u think. And rightly so.
i think i have more pressing issues in my life. maybe next time i wont even bother to comment...
@05Valentia I think that if Mrs. Buckingham does her homework and knows all the facts, and knows that their behaviour is not "an act", being at home with her 3 children during the Fleetwood Mac tours, her life must be a living hell.
Or will Lindsey have convinced her: "honey, don't worry, this is what the audience wants to see and to believe..."
Maybe next time don't start your comment with ..."That is it..." i think that was the key hit there.
i'm civil.. just giving you some constructice critisism about how you write your comments:)
Vixen? Maybe not. But she's still got countless men young and old knocking down her door!
@vakantieland4 personally I don't believe it's acting. And for what I've heard I feel for Lindsey being married to Kristin. I strongly believe Stevie and Lindsey belong together.
I've heard/read interviews and she gets quite cagey and stuttery about what the song means exactly. There are some lines she has explained the meaning of, but I think it's probably about EVERYTHING that was going on in her life at the time. The affair with Mick Fleetwood and how that affected the band and Mick's wife Sara who was also her friend. But then there is also Don Henley and termination of the pregnancy with him. I think there are some intensely personal lines about the baby in it too.
She finally told about the song itself. She conceived a child with Don Henley of the Eagles, and chose to have it aborted. But she never forgot her baby, and said: "If I'd had the child, and the child was a girl, I'd have named it Sara..."

And somehow, from the very first time I heard the live in Australia 1983 version of this, my heart told me it involved death. I never guessed and never knew until just a few moments ago that it in fact was written in remembrance of her would-have been child.
@@davidsirmons This is by far one of the most complex yet most beautiful love songs in existence, and is my most favorite of all time.
@GraceMcVie Hmm... Yeah, I think it is, in some odd way, about an abortion that Stevie had... But it's also about her love for Lindsey, and Mick, and any number of Eagles members... Remember, the 70's were a very different time than we are in at the current moment....

Only men get older.
nhgranite1....you dont understand spirit of song do you? what a sad person you must be!! This song is about a friend of Stevie's that died of cancer.....
I think she wrote this for the baby she aborted. It's so sad she never had a family of her own
