Reminds me of Kipling's Poem Chant Pagan. About a soldier who basically comes home from war and nothing's the same. The things he's seen and done, doesn't matter back over here.
Fans Terry and Siegfried below said it so well. What a brilliant band. Ain't the Same is a very deep song. It's about a vet who was a medic that Charlie met, from what I've read. War is, well, yes, totally hell. Charlie wrote the lyrics (perhaps with some others?). For me, it's a song about pain and trying to get over it. The pain could be coming from any where, any place. This is really a beautiful ode to any person who has suffered something very hurtful; but there is hope there some where, too. Charlie sings it with such pathos. Thank you for the post Brendan Maguire. This one should hit home for just about everybody on the planet. The official clip has beautiful filming, too. Come back soon to Dublin, Paris, Barcelona, Utrecht, Berlin.... etc., etc.! Please!
Wot a fantastic night from a truly genuine band
