Blackberry Smoke - Ain't the Same (Live at West End Sound)

- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- Blackberry Smoke would like to thank our service members and the men and women who have served our nation in uniform. We hope everyone continues to be gracious for their sacrifice, but today we hope we can also shine a light on challenges many still face. Our friends at Shepherds Men do amazing work to raise awareness and funds for the care of service members and their family dealing with mild to moderate traumatic brain injury or concussions and any co-occurring psychological or behavioral health concerns, including post-traumatic stress. We recorded an acoustic version of “Ain’t The Same” which is the story of a young soldier coming from a battlefield overseas to another kind of battlefield at home, and basically forced to deal with it alone. If you know some struggling with PTSD, please reach out.

Lyrics:
He saw the lightning flash across the bright blue sky
Saw the rain creep across the road
Well he stopped and said that's the Devil beatin' his wife
Or some old tale the old folks told
It's a five mile walk between here and uptown
On a road lined with sugarcane
They won't notice if he goes anywhere
Here lately it's like they've forgotten his name
He just can't forget the way
The days seemed so much brighter
And the breeze could blow the troubles away
You could see angels dancing in the flame
This old place seemed so much bigger
Now he sees it all a different way
Nothing's really changed
But it ain't the same
He's been back from overseas about thirty days
He returned standing proud and true
Yeah, the new is worn off his welcome home
Like the heat burnin' off the dew
Empty bottles that mean the bills ain't gettin' paid
Same holes knocked in the walls
Mama don't fight back like in her younger days
Goin' over the edge, well it's a hell of a fall
Can't he just go back a page
Yeah, the days seemed so much brighter
And the breeze could blow the troubles away
You could see angels dancing in the flame
This old place seemed so much bigger
Now he sees it all a different way
Nothing's really changed
But it ain't the same
He don't know where he's headed for
But the buses run right on time
Anywhere's better than staying here
With the ghosts running through his mind
The things that he's seen and done
Are so much for any Mother's son
To live down or try to run away from
Can't he run
Yeah, the days seemed so much brighter
And the breeze could blow the troubles away
You could see angels dancing in the flame
This old place seemed so much bigger
Now he sees it all a different way
Nothing's really changed
It just ain't the same

Probably the best band in the world…
the biggest southern band today!
Without a doubt!!!
Truth
delete "probably"
No doubt about it!
I grew up in the 60s. I enlisted in the Army National Guard in '71 but never saw combat. I have many relatives -- uncles and cousins -- and friends who did. I can honestly say of anyone I know who did they never came home unchanged.
I sure do miss the 60's and 70's things were so much simpler then, and for my 2 cents better than now
Agree total. I am 67 and was just thinking the other day I grew up in the best decades 50's to 80's. I would go back today if I could.
Less government more freedom.Take Liberty back..Everyday push back or forever be enslaved
BBS, in addition to bring a new outlook to southern rock they always add social concern to their songs.Charlie is a poet who knows how to tell stories of ordinary people and their life battles.
He wrote this song with Keith Nelson after spending time with a friend who is a senior and suffers from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). It's the story of a young soldier going from a battlefield abroad to another kind of battlefield at home, and basically being forced to deal with it alone.
This song and especially the lyric is awesome and touch me profoundly. I left my homeland Porto Alegre in south of Brazil still young to work far from home and lived in many places. Now in my late 60's I've got severe depreession. To me the biggest problem when I go back is the lack of belonging. To me nothin's really changed but it ain't the same - as said Charlie's song. Bob Dylan wrote once "Sometimes it’s not enough to know what things mean, sometimes you have to know what things don’t mean" Luv u guys ! Cheers from Brazil🇧🇷❤️
To put it short BLACKBERRY SMOKE Can and SINGS IT ALL!!!!!
Amen to that!!
@@justgrassit ALL will RISE AGAIN is my most ❤ newest favorite of theirs!! You haven't lived until you've heard bbs. From north dakota
I went to see Charlie last weekend in Nashville at the City Winery, acoustic show 1/15/22.

BLACKBERRY SMOKE KICKS ASS!!!
Have this band ever made a bad song ? These guys are the business, the real deal.
This one made me cry the first time I heard it! I'm 65 and so glad I'm still around to hear these guys. Outstanding!!!
Kalle Lepik...i do so agree 100%. I'm 74 and grateful for my good ears and to be able to appreciate such a fine band. Outstanding indeed! Lucky me...😁👍🌹
I'm of the same vintage brother and I couldn't agree with you more. God watch over you and keep on rockin". Blackberry Smoke is a national treasure!!!
Never discovered a band and listened to their whole repertoire in such a hurry
Poignant reminder of my grandad who never made it home from the war. Great band of musicians, who make brilliant music. Just got my ticket for Manchester. Can't wait. Thanks guys.
I am truly grateful for the ultimate sacrifice made by your grandfather and all of our veterans who died so we can live in freedom, and all the liberty we do. All of our veterans are appreciated and will NEVER be forgotten. BEST AND PEACE to all current service members and veterans, your family and friends!
Salute
IMO the best band around in this day and age!
I am a vet and I do a lot of volunteer work with other disabled vets. I don't think anyone comes back the same way they left. However, there is help my friends. The VA is way better than the old days. There are so many other resources available. Most of all, You are NOT alone. We take care of our own.
Même la France vous aime!!! 🇨🇵👍❤❤❤❤
Nr. 2 after the Beatles on my all-time favorites. Felt like coming home when I heard them the first time 2012.Thank you Charlie, Britt, Richard, Paul, Brandon, Benji and Preston.
Preach young GWOT warrior. you appear to have read my mind.
Charlie Starr is a talent that transcends all eras of the history of American music. He is a great storyteller. This band rocks.
Another great song by the Best Band in the land
The sound of Eagles is back, for our great pleasure 🎸🎸🎸
Go go go .....good vibes!
Thank you for honoring our heroes!
I wanted to see them when they were in Tennessee. I am 62 years old and live on my Social Security plus a little retirement. I would have my son with me. After looking at the price of the tickets,I was shocked to see 100.00 plus. This kept me from being able to see them live. They need a senior citizens discount. I will keep watching on UA-cam. Best wishes for everyone and your family. Stay safe get vaccinated and wear your N95 mask. Prayers sent out for everyone.
I loved the 60's&70's then everything just went away.?
Need to go listen to that album another 10,000 times now.
You hear Georgia is a great album

BlackBerry Smoke is not on the radio, not round here anyhow.
I listen to One Horse Town at least once a day, everday, for 'bout a year now.
That song has a simple story that everybody can understand if not relate, in a great melody. The highs, the lows, Bark it Out!
The song has become a staple in my day, I want more
What a wonderful song...rock is still alive..great band!
Nice boys!🎶💯✌

THANK YOU to all the vets !!!
Charlie has a way with words. He writes great messages which came from parents. This group has a great spirit.
I love these guys..
This song has some significance to me, but probably not for the intended reason, I found out a while ago that I have a terminal disease, short of a organ transplant that may or may not ever happen. It has changed the way I see what is familiar to me, it seems different, I wish a summer breeze could blow my troubles away, I remember the days without a care in world, now just the opposite.
Great sound, great video, great band. Congrats guys ! Regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
Espetacular
I'm waitin' on record store day to get "Stoned",Charlie and the guy's Rolling Stones cover album which I have on order. Can't miss a thing!!!
