You have been visited by the Motivational Paddle Samurai, type 'Nice!' in the comments to be blessed with determination and perfect parries.
I think the most fantastic thing about this fight is that they coupled his obscene amount of attack power with the shortest healthbar in the game. You can literally defeat any of his phases in a single attack if you do it right. It's a proper samurai duel. Over in a flash... one way or another.
This is a guy that is able to not ironically say "While you pondered and studied a means of escape, I studied the blade."
I'm convinced this dude was actually just a really determined kayak enthusiast. He spent some of that eternity screwing with katanas just to fake you out. His true weapon of choice, the deadliest weapon of all, even topping your graphene sci-fi energy blade, the almighty oar.
"Do i look unconquerable to you?" These words sticked with me through the rest of the game. Especially on The star
Yes, because nothing says absolute power like dropping your sword in place of an oar.
"Excellence is not an art, it's pure habit. We are what we repeatedly do."
"I heard that you like parrying" - "No. I dont" - "After this battle you will"
"You have more strength than you think. Try and stay with me through this."
I think that the freaking oar is the villian of this story
"Do I look unconquerable to you?"
>has two swords, only uses one
"Man, wouldn't an all melee boss be easy?"
"What would you do if you had an eternity to wait? Pass the time? Go crazy?
Trope or not, I'm a sucker for "mirror match" boss battles.
DMC has Vergil
You move well. You're reading me rather quickly.
This is inspired of the Miyamoto Musashi/Kojiro Sasaki duel, the most skilled japan's swordman. Miyamoto was recognized for his two swords ability. On the island where the fight takes place, Miyamoto finaly killed Kojiro by grabing an boat oar then hit him in his head.
I was really hyped after killing The Burst, i wanted to see how were the other remaining guardians, and after hearing the story of The Edge i was like "He is gonna be THE non-final boss that feels like a final boss right?"
I fucking love this boss. He's the most dudebro one of them all. He beats your ass, and instead of gloating like the others, what does he do? He says he's beatable, that
