That opening number was so chill and normal; Flansburgh sang so sweetly you could almost imagine TMBG as a normal jazz ballad band, luckily right after that they brought out THE STICK!
Coming back to watch this after watching a recording of one of the latest concerts (like literally one month ago) is both such a change of pace yet so similar, and in both the Johns are awesome
I was referring to New Hampshire. He literally plays a carousel. Illinois is pretty rocking too. He is also credited for playing a dustbuster on the album.
this performance makes me so happy!!! I love Linnell's rundown of the sun at 13:26!! the stick also makes me smile :]] ( also the noise that occurs when flans bumps his guitar against the microphone )
I started listening to these maniacs over 30 years ago. Whenever I go to one of their live shows, I look around and realize that I’m one of the oldest people there. The John’s have gotten old, as have I, but their music has not.
Due to a copyright claim, a clip of Frank Sinatra's "Theme from New York, New York" during Dancenoise's choreographed intro in the first 70 seconds had to be muted to keep the video up. TMBG's set is unaffected.
I was only 11 days old when this was filmed. Little did I know that I would become obsessed with their songs on Tiny Tunes 5 years later..and with everything they've written since then lol. Thanks guys!
@Richard Sullivan I'm talking about the angle of this video lol. I know they're both somewhat tall, that's why this video is confusing. To be fair, I'm not short myself (I'm 5'10) 😅
Love how recent so many of these comments are! TMBG fans still going strong ❤

*cries* *bangs fist against wall* why are they so adorable why
same. i have passed away
Because they’re talented and not jerks? 😉
These guys could read and sing the ingredients list of shaving cream and it’d be a great song. So much talent.
Basically just “Money for Dope”
The thing is, They would definitely do this
flansy shaking his legs at the " twisting" part in lie still little bottle is literally the best part of the performance. Go white boy go 😭😭🧡💜
hwhore

i am so in love with john flansburgh. now and then.
ME WITH BOTH
Same, he’s so cute

This performance of lie still little bottle makes me absolutely lose my mind every time I love flans so much
Kiss me son of god will forever be my favorite closing song. It's so hauntingly beautiful
Linnell can play every instrument.
I made that conclusion when he played a carousel.
@@sheekaloca I assume you’re referring to the Illinois state song. Nice

JOHN LINNEL ATE. KING IS THERE AN INSTRUMENT U CANNOT PLAY
I know, right? Decades later, and I'm just now finding out banjo is also on that list.

I've seen them three times, 2004, 2022 and 2023. I got take my two oldest kids in 2023, what a joy. The crowd ranged from 16 to 70 I'd say!

Glad I grabbed it when the audio was intact! ;-)
they did a great job of preserving this video holy crap this is amazing quality!
It's music like this that makes my life worth living.

it's the foaming mouth guy from avatar but it's a tmbg fan when flans pulls out the stick
5:15 THE STICK!
They are so compelling as a duo.
Oh, the delightful weirdness of the early days of TMBG. May they never end.
Don't think I've ever seen JL play the banjo!
Damn, that "Nice 'n' Easy" cover is damn good
YOO CAGE AND AQUARIUM IS SOO UNDERRATED
This is probably my favorite video on UA-cam.
Wow, this is great. The crowd, Flans's moves, the banjo. Love it.
Gotta love 80s tmbg. The quality is incredible!
The video quality is surprisingly good, but I feel like my ears have been blasted.
The little jump in Nice N Easy is the best part
Linnell on banjo- that's the stuff.
5:16 THE STICKKKKK ‼️‼️‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I was only 11 days old when this was filmed. Little did I know that I would become obsessed with their songs on Tiny Tunes 5 years later..and with everything they've written since then lol. Thanks guys!
"The stick, ladies and gentlemen"
They've overcome their shyness and now they're calling me your highness!
flans' shaky leg is great
*THE STICK!!!!!!!!!!!*
My one regret quitting facebook is no longer being able to check the Misc. T group hahaha. thanks Jon for this upload!!!
Aw, shucks! Some people make accounts just for groups! ;)
It’s Weird that there was no tape machine that day!
No tape machine, no complete show
Wonderful! And playing Why Does The Sun Shine in 1988 too! Not recorded/released til 1995!
1993 ;-)
but it's a cover of a 1950s educational song
we need more artsy intros to TMBG
The compression/poor audio quality ages this like a fine wine
i love the Nice n Easy cover! nice job guys lmao
Nice and easy.. every time.. Thanks. THEEEE STTTICCCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!🗣💥💥
I had no idea they were playing why does the sun shine so early,
My three main instruments are accordion, banjo and piano. So basically I'm like a way way way way less talented Linnell. :)
5:14 THE SCREAM
these are all very nice song selections actually
god tier video thank you for uploading this jon
Kiss me Son of God was pretty incredible.
God i wish Flansy would sing me to sleep, kind of hoping they'd make a crooner covers album XD
lol "snap louder"
thanks for this
Amazing footage, thanks so much for sharing it.
What a treasure! A million thanks, Jon!!!
This is a treasure, thank you so much for uploading 🙏
Absolutely incredible, thanks so much for the upload!
Wow, thanks for this!
2:35 Nice n Easy
this is so cool
If I could go to any concert of theirs, it would be this one.
This must be around the Ana Ng record - Love these songs ❤
At first, I though this was recorded 2/6/20. But John F. looked a bit younger than expected so...
An absolute gem! Thank you!
💕.
LINNELL'S SCREAM AT 8:34 LMAO
I can't tell, but is that a Gretch LaTosca? That's a sexy model of accordion.
8:35 linnell
why do they look so short
@Richard Sullivan I'm talking about the angle of this video lol. I know they're both somewhat tall, that's why this video is confusing. To be fair, I'm not short myself (I'm 5'10) 😅

UA-cam commenter amandaharris726 please enlighten those of us who are clueless with context
I would do everything in my power to disrupt this performance. I'd run up, push the John's n do acapella Ravid Child, because I'm the man forever
