  • Why is liturgy important, and what is its historical significance? The history of liturgy extends back to the book of Genesis in the Old Testament. In a conversation with Fr. Dempsey Rosales Acosta, Jeff Cavins delves into the significance of liturgy and the concept of sacrifice. They explore how liturgy shapes our relationship with God and trace its origins to the era of the Divided Kingdom.

It's a blessing listening to Father Dempsey! Such an effervescent personality! He hits it on the head when he said that lack of adequate catechesis is at the root of our current church problem.

You guys who are hearing Fr Dempsey in English for the first time, you should’ve heard him in his native Spanish on the Bible in a Year Intro episodes. I fell in love with Bible in a Year with Fr Mike and Jeff Cavins but the Spanish version really got me going, especially the intro episodes. If you don’t understand Spanish, you’re really missing out. Fr Dempsey is my absolute favorite! I need to read his books.

“Deification is a pervasive theme that enriches and unites the other themes in the liturgy...as Augustine claimed, God desires to 'make his worshipers into gods.'” ~Jared Ortiz, 'Deification in the Latin Patristic Tradition'

The conversation about liturgy really spoke in an unintended way about the Novus Ordo vs the Latin Mass…

If 30 of Catholics believe that the Eucharist is truly the body of Christ, how do we re teach the family of God?
