Great video. I feel like this design was one step away from being a no-cut mod.
i have the PixelFX N64Digital and it's incredible, i usually play most games with all the blur off and if i want to after the fact i can enable a crt filter but it looks so good.
they sell injection molded region-free cart trays that are much better than the 3D printed ones that most places sell.
I got one on ebay for ~$6 USD with free shipping a few weeks ago.

If you use an mclassic in retro mode it pushes the hispeedido to 1080 p 4:3 aspect ratio. sharpens the image
what i think aspect ratio is doing is:
1: 2x scaling
2: 3x scaling
3: fullscreen
the funky thing is that almost every n64 game doesn't use it's full resolution anyway, it always has a black border, usually of 8 pixels per side, so 320x240 turns into 304x224, just to give an example. games can go lower and the border will be larger since the signal resolution is still 320x240 or whatever base resolution they chose since the n64 can produce multiple resolutions up to 640x480. the border is obviously not a problem for crt tv's.
a shame that it doesn't do deinterlacing correctly, i've been contemplating getting one of those since they are cheap.
Yeah, that text in pokemon stadium was ROUGH to read. I plugged in my ultraHDMI modded unit later and the difference is night and day for interlaced content.
Apparently, this is an older version of the kit from what one of the sellers is telling me...
(I have the exact same one in my -05 unit and it has the same audio issues)
Glad to hear that it's (allegedly) fixed but they still never should have put bugged kits out in the wild.
On the topic of hdmi mods, did you know there's a hdmi mod for the psp 1000? I found it on aliexpress, I'd love to see you review it.

Damn skill. I cannot to that kind of soldering without being closer or checking and re checking as i go. wish i could pull that off! i create so many shorts if i go like that lol.

@@redlanternsuperman A microscope can be really cheap and really helpful for stuff like this. I have one that I use frequently off camera but the footage capture quality kinda sucks and it's tedious to splice the footage in so it usually doesn't appear in videos.
Mono scopes fuck with your depth perception but they're hella cheap and still really good once you get used to it. Stereo scopes can be real expensive though.
Yeah i think it has something do with capture card.. I know mine wouldnt do anything with DD sound as output. But change it to anything else and it quits crackling and works the way it should.
My capture card has passthrough and the audio was working fine on my monitor. In hindsight, I could have rerouted the passthrough audio back into my PC and recorded that. Oh well.
I think the issue is still with the mod itself and not necessarily my capture card even though the N64 worked as expected when I plugged it into other things.
The mod is very finicky with some tvs and receivers.
Audio issues (distorted) on my 12yr old sharp TV. Just like the capture card audio from this clip...
When I plug the hdmi cable into my 2yo denon receiver, I get no audio.
When I plug it into my LG c7, works no problem.
The included hdmi adapter is garbage.. buy yourself the adapter cable instead.

You're right but also it was hella dirty and wasn't going to work anyway. It does work now though since I've cleaned it.

Same as the cheap china ones.. terrible quality picture.. looks like composite through scaler ... this is no alternative for real ultra hdmi or n64 advance and rgb mod
I compere the pictures from Aliexpress and this one. They are the same.
RGRS have nearly the same price.
@@ReneOne111 Yes, this is that same kit. It's alright for what it is as long as you don't run into incompatibilities like I did.
