Even if it's only Lapis Lazuli though, water is one of the main forces that shapes the Earth's crust, so control over water would be a tremendous terraforming tool.

i believe that it was multiple bismuths and (plural of lapis) that built these underwater structures. (plural of lapis) just did the stuff involving water, ie. the gravity pool or spreading water away from the underwater sea temple so that bismuths could work.

I've heard people say they thought it was Terraform To report Tear apart and Teleport I could see Terraform being the true-blue Hell I could see all of them being the true blue - Lapis has many abilities, many of which still functioned strongly with a massive crack But at the moment, even though the LEAKED/Spoiler Subtitles claimed it was Terraform. I'm going to stick with the belief that it could've been "to perform" or "Ta-perform" Even though Personally I didn't notice Lapis included at all to begin with and Even though I don't /truly/ hear "To Perform" It fits. Lapis Can fly extremely fast, from Earth to wherever she went, which we're led to believe, was homeworld - The zoo was a helluva a trip away for a SHIP, let alone on the wings of Lazuli. - This could make her great for all sorts of things, namely, scouting, reporting, and then Terraforming (Moving to locations or into range/out of way) Lapis controls water - the very aspect of which is a form of terraforming all on its own - water erosion and replacing of sediments is one of the strongest forms of natural change we have - and she can likely do what our natural water changes do, in a whole lot less time. Lapis can Mimic and Recall - Two parts that both support scouting and Reporting of situations - But - They'd /also/ help in Performing Arts. Lapis can make clones of whoever she desires, whoever she's seen (assumably) and RIGHT OFF THE BAT... manage to go toe to toe. Garnet is all we needed to point this out, as her water clone of Garnet stood ground under an onslaught of punches given and taken by the real deal. - This ability is useful for more than just Performing Arts, but combined with Mimicry. She can do so much. Lapis "To perform" would also make sense with what the Pearls were doing. Agate Terrifies made sense with what the Pearls did - Why not Lapis? Lapis Terraform shouldn't have really looked like that, Lapis report, teleport, tear apart, etc - none of them should have really looked like that. But Perform. Blue Pearl did an almost "dramatic" fainting kinda pose, and Yellow Pearl held her - yes, they were dancing and singing the feeling song with YD - But dancing, dramas/plays... Performances. Those are the kinda things that what the Pearls did at the "A Lapis --- ----" part - visually mesh with. putting on a show for the court would be easy. - When you could make a clone of anyone you see, maybe even the Diamonds, and mimic their voice, their actions, - Recall a great conquest the diamonds held on one of Blue's Colonies, mimic the gems who fought and won that conquest..... but most importantly (I.e Not really) It would place her as the Gem version of Human Version - Jamie. People have already made comparisons to their Hairstyles Their Posture/sitting poses and etc Their heights are close too - Not that /that/ matters for Buck vs Garnet or Jenny vs Amethyst. - Their physical build is similar as well. And what does Jamie want to do? Become a performer, a star, an actor. People have also make the small mention - though it may hold no merit - that Jamie Brought Steven Sea Pals. And Lapis, was Steven's Beach Summer fun buddy - A water witch says Greg, Water -> sea - Buddy - > pal - A Sea Pal. Jamie has "Mimicked"/cosplayed/etc other gems in his plays Lapis has the power to do the same, right down to their voice.

Hadn't thought about that... They could've made Mask Island and The area that was Russia in gem-like places - hell both could've even been zoos, and then Lapis could've used watered to cleave out the chunk of Russia that was "The Zoo" and carry it into space. Don't say she couldn't do that, she had a water spire almost out of the atmosphere with a cracked gem. She could carry a small chunk of land for a station to be built around easily. And she made it back to homeworld in a relatively short time, So she is extremely fast.
TBH! I believe that Lapis DID help form the kindergardens both, Because, if you go back to your fifth grade science class, Water Eroded the canyons into what they are. so Lapis could've helped make the kindergardens structural foundation with her watery powers.
The Crystal Crystals I feel like maybe she used water to cause erosion within the prime kindergarten in order to create a canyon. Like large amounts of water were controlled by her and she used the water to dig and carve out the canyon. Idk just a guess
Well, it makes sense, Thousands and millions of years ago the Grand Canyon was filled with water( in real life) so in SU it would make sense that a lapis terra formed it by taking out the water to make room for growing gems.
Vox I have something to mention that I found out that could be something important to the diamonds, specifically why they can't be poofed. In real life, diamonds are the only mineral that's organic. This would mean that there bodies are in a way organic as well, and would explain why Matt Burnett laughed at the diamonds being poofed. It may be similar to Stevens body, that being that with out the gem the body would remain but unlike a gem, removing the body kills it. I dunno if they would find it interesting enough to do, but the crewniverse has done things like this before that have mattered about gems. Any thoughts anybody?

Here, we learn for the first time that her gem class' intended purpose is terraforming-to make other planets habitable for the gems to colonize for their various purposes. For instance, Earth was colonized to grow new gems, so one assumes the Lapis class used their powers to help prep Earth for that use.
So I've been thinking--the Galaxy Warp looks a little incomplete versus other gem sites, dontcha think? Maybe Lapis was in the middle of forming that when she was poofed. Also...about the multi-element Lapis. Peridot is an Era 2 gem. She has said that Homeworld is running low on resources, and the gems they are making don't come out as powerful as the era 1 gems. I think you have a good point here. Greg did have an album cover called "Water Witch". I think Lapis is responsible for the magic that sustains the whirlpool around the sea spire, the magic that rebuilds the sea temple, and whatever magic the galaxy warp has going on that its presumably floating in the middle of the ocean. What if lapis built the crystal gem temple and that's why Rose originally approached her in the first place. Think about all the WATER involved in all the gems rooms. Heck, pearls room is nothing but water falls. After finishing the temple, Rose asked lapis to join the gems since building a temple for the enemy is a small act of rebellion and Rose believe lap is had potential to fully rebel. Of course lapis realised this act of rebellion as well and refused to accept betraying everything she'd known on Homeworld. Maybe the gems thought she was going to report the gems activity to HW and so Rose had (a) Bismuth poof her, so she wouldn't be a threat.

The beta Kindergarten was made halfway through the rebellion, but we don't know when Pink Diamond was shattered. Jasper also that's she was there at the first war for the planet so the rebellion and war weren't at the _exact_ same time, the rebellion just lead into the war.

I think that lapis' ARE used to make kindergartens, and it's much preferred by homeworld. But the beta kindergarten was made midway through the war, when soldiers were needed. So the homeworlders took a canyon that was naturally formed, and threw some ejectors in the canyon.

Yo Awestruck! Got a theory that might knock your socks right into the next nebula! Ive recently been re watching Steven Universe and I just finished watching 'Gem Drill' where Steven stopped the cluster from forming and I thought of something. If homeworld were to ever invade Earth, would the cluster help the crystal gems? We've seen that Steven can reason with the cluster and it can respond to problems with cognitive thought e.g. when it bubbled individual shards to stop from forming. This means Steven could somehow convince the cluster to save it's home against homeworld. I know that you cant exactly bring the cluster out from the earth but the cluster isn't exactly melded together. When steven communicated with the cluster he convinced them to bubble each other. So far we've seen that bubbling can only contain individual gems at a time, which means the cluster isn't molded into one huge ball, but small bits of shards placed together. That means it is possible that bits of shards of the cluster could be moved to the surface.

odd how cartoon network has taken down ajuniverse's THEORY as theory's has a guess based on given facts and only the theory as reviews that has footage (I know he is in the clear but youtube has stricken others who do the exact same thing so cn could have done that) are still there.
Here's an Idea they found 2 canyons and the first one was tweaked by Lapis to make it look like it does while the 2nd one was hastely thrown to together since they had need of the gems to be done quickly. AKA the first one wasn't fully usable in its natural state so Lapis came in and worn down the walls and floor of what was already there to make it perfect for their needs.
About the fact that it was the gems under Blue Diamonds court. I think that there was one exception, the armies. This is mainly because Peridot says that YD has control over all the armies of homeworld in Hit The Diamond, although that could just be a general statement because all the diamonds have at least some military power, that in the answer she tells Ruby "How dare you fuse with a member of my court" implying that Ruby's are not part of her court, and finally that it just doesn't seem like the almost passive Blue Diamond would command an Army.

Here's an hypothesis I have: Gem 'terraforming' occurs in stages. Stage one involves the making of water gems like pearls, opals and possibly lapis lazulis. This is where lapis lazulis come in. After the planet's resources (water and mollusks?) for these are used up, the peridots come in and make kindergartens. There may be other stages involving volcanoes for metamorphic gems that we don't know about yet. Also, since gems live basically forever unless shattered or cracked, I think that the formation of gems could possibly take decades or even centuries.
One thing that I wanted to add that you were already leaning towards is that peridot actually said that the prime kindergarten was made for ideal gems to be produced and that with a lack of troops they had to rush there plans during the war and make more troops thus meaning the beta kindergarten which would suggest that the first kindergarten was made but the second one was a canyon that they used because it was somewhat ideal
Really happy you did a video on this! As soon add I heard the song I had to listen to it over and over just to get what they said about Lapis gems, and then after I thought I heard it right I was like "wait, what the fuck does that mean?" And I just couldn't really figure it out. You're analysis is really well done and I agree, I think given what yellow diamond has said and with those structures designs having to do a lot with water I believe lapis would have had a large part in creating then. It could also be why the crystal gems kept lapis in the mirror for so long. But what I don't get is that if Lapis was able to build these structures and build them pretty easily, wouldn't she be able to use that ability to access homeworld easier in Ocean Gem rather than just fly back? And why exactly would Jasper say that Steven should be scared of Lapis if terra forming was the only other ability that Lapis has? It doesn't seem like an ability that would make Steven scared of her, unless there is another place on earth that we have yet to see that is absolutely terrible, and that was what Lapis helped build?
I think that Lapis feels so alien to herself because she's been stuck in a mirror, taunting the fact that she hasn't gained confidence and happiness in herself. Instead of being able to find herself, she was stuck having to let people see who they are. She wants to be her own person, but she was trapped inside of a mirror, posing the fact that she literally can't be herself, since she's an object. I can see why she hated her prison so much, since she was just a thing, when really she was supposed to be this powerful person, deranged to a thing.
Not tiny things like islands, but HUGE areas, like the circular sea where Siberia was. Lapis Lazuli is a being that can manipulate gigatons of water to reach the edge of Earth's atmosphere. Imagine slamming that mass down to rip up continental plates, punch holes in the crust to trigger supervolcanoes, etc.
The thing about Malachite on Mask Island can be explained with something else you said in this video: The Warp Pad. Mask Island was very popular, therefore, our Lapis has been there. She's not necessarily the one who made it.

This theory makes a lot of sense, esp. Lapises making Kindergardens, but there's one small incostistency- Lapis said she was only meant to visit Earth for a short time. If they were supposed to build, what, 60? kindergardens, and possibly a lot of other structures, you'd think that she would spend alot of time on Earth doing the job
I think one possible solution is that Lapises can create a "Red Sea" effect, so things like the sea shrine can be easily constructed on the sea floor, then covered.
hey round table, lets not also forget what formed the actual grand canyon and any canyon in general- water based erosion over time. (or whatever the word for it is). Basically, the accepted theory is that the colorado river is the reason for the grand canyon, because it carved it out over time. This kinda supports the Lapis building the kindergartens theory
I found this very interesting when I first heard the song.....I was honestly surprised to learn that lapis lazuli's are made to terraform....for some reason I judged a book by its cover and assumed (because of how she's dressed/her build) that lapis was a more aristocratic gem like sapphire/considered to be a member of her diamond's court and therefore above task that involve any form of "physical" labor (e.g Bismuth).
Yellow said "A Lapis" not just "Lapis", implying that either A: All Lapis' are used to terraform, but our Lapis Might not have terraformed any of the things you mentioned, or B: Just one particular Lapis terraformed something, maybe or maybe not our Lapis.
Here is a better question. Who did the Gems go to war against? They have armies, but why? Earth is a relatively young colony, and humans were pretty much beneath Diamond notice, so it was not to subdue a planet. Once a colony is formed all natural life is destroyed, so it can't be to keep subjugated planets under control. Is there a bigger enemy out there. Perhaps that is what White Diamond is dealing with. An external enemy that the Crystal Gems will help battle using the new strategies developed by being themselves. Perhaps Steven, as a gem/human hybrid, plays a huge part in this unknown war.
I guess that makes sense and explains why she (and peridot) did what she did to the barn. Using what they had at their disposable to make their environment more suited to gems maybe?
The thing you said about the grand canyon. yeah, the grand canyon is a naturally formed structure on earth, but who says the gems couldnt have played a part in its formation in the show? the gems have been around for a long time and with how little people acknowledge all the gem locations everywhere, its possible the grand canyon has no significance in this universe to humans.
That's entirely possible and I'm open to that idea and considered it while making this video, to me, it just feels more of "The world of Steven Universe is ours but altered at a certain point by gems" so going off that idea, the Grand Canyon would've already existed by the time Homeworld arrived on it.
Personally I feel that the prime kindergarten existed already and with the abilities of Lapis Lazulies they were able to finely cut and make it wore neat with precision because they had time to unlike with the beta kindergarten where even Peridot said it was a rush job, they wouldn't have to cut and shape the rock to their desirable shape. You know, since water with the right amount of force can cut stone finely like a water jet saw or something and I definitely think that lapis is capable of that. So with having more time to turn the prime kindergarten into a desirable breeding ground, you can call it for gems it comes out looking artificial while the beta was very rushed and they didn't have the option of taking their time with it. Cutting and shaping it.
quick summary: lapis takes the water off of earth like it shows happens before they completely hollow out the earth, when peridot and the gems went to the moon base.
Given she can basically pull at lease an ocean's worth of water into a tall cylinder while cracked(s1e26 Ocean gem), "pat" a large roundish object hard enough to embed it half way into packed ground(s3e4 barn mates), and floods have been documented to be able to quickly carve landscapes(Canyon Lake Gorge flood). Yes she or a team of them could have carved out the landscape to prep the alpha kindergarten and other areas so that the other gems could get to work.
Every time I hear the song, I hear "a lapis to REPORT" and that supports the theory that's she's a messenger gem. It doesn't make sense to me how lapis can "terraform"
This has probably been said but I do agree with you, but I also think she helped terraform the kindergarten. In natural erosion, many canyons (including the Grand Canyon) were made by a river eroding through it. Maybe lapis's with water manipulation abilities had formed the kindergarten using water to erode away. Also the reason the beta kindergarten was really poorly done was because the lapises had to do it quickly, which is why Peridot calls it a "rush job".
Perhaps lapis removed water from the kindergarten because it's a cannon which is formed by water but it doesn't have any water it it? It doesn't even rain there as we can see in back to the kindergarten
Lapis did mention she was only to be on Earth for a short time but was caught in the fighting. meaning that she was sent some place where a battle started during the start of the War. This mean's she very likely had no real part to play in the war. There is also the possibility that Terraforms is actually Tells Reports, unless it's been proven otherwise, which means that she would have other reason to be on Earth for such a short time and be caught up in a sudden battle only to be imprisoned.
When Lapis was telling Steven about her backstory she told him that she came to Earth just to visit and caught herself in the middle of a war. She didn't terraform anything on Earth, other Lazulis did, and Bismuth tought she was one of them.

Armenus would probably be tougher (in terms of how armor protects) and use nature abilities like controlling leaves and vines.
Lacedaemonius would use fire powers like controlling lava and creating fire out of nowhere.

i believe that it was multiple bismuths and (plural of lapis) that built these underwater structures. (plural of lapis) just did the stuff involving water, ie. the gravity pool or spreading water away from the underwater sea temple so that bismuths could work.

Lapis Can fly extremely fast, from Earth to wherever she went, which we're led to believe, was homeworld - The zoo was a helluva a trip away for a SHIP, let alone on the wings of Lazuli. - This could make her great for all sorts of things, namely, scouting, reporting, and then Terraforming (Moving to locations or into range/out of way)
Lapis controls water - the very aspect of which is a form of terraforming all on its own - water erosion and replacing of sediments is one of the strongest forms of natural change we have - and she can likely do what our natural water changes do, in a whole lot less time.
Lapis can Mimic and Recall - Two parts that both support scouting and Reporting of situations - But - They'd /also/ help in Performing Arts.
Lapis can make clones of whoever she desires, whoever she's seen (assumably) and RIGHT OFF THE BAT... manage to go toe to toe. Garnet is all we needed to point this out, as her water clone of Garnet stood ground under an onslaught of punches given and taken by the real deal. - This ability is useful for more than just Performing Arts, but combined with Mimicry. She can do so much.
Lapis "To perform" would also make sense with what the Pearls were doing.

Well, it makes sense, Thousands and millions of years ago the Grand Canyon was filled with water( in real life) so in SU it would make sense that a lapis terra formed it by taking out the water to make room for growing gems.
Vox I have something to mention that I found out that could be something important to the diamonds, specifically why they can't be poofed. In real life, diamonds are the only mineral that's organic. This would mean that there bodies are in a way organic as well, and would explain why Matt Burnett laughed at the diamonds being poofed. It may be similar to Stevens body, that being that with out the gem the body would remain but unlike a gem, removing the body kills it. I dunno if they would find it interesting enough to do, but the crewniverse has done things like this before that have mattered about gems. Any thoughts anybody?

Also...about the multi-element Lapis. Peridot is an Era 2 gem. She has said that Homeworld is running low on resources, and the gems they are making don't come out as powerful as the era 1 gems. She says that Lapis Lazuli's are partial to water. What if she is talking only about the era 2 Lapis Lazuli's? And she says "partial" to water, that doesn't necessarily mean they all have water abilities, they either mostly have water abilities, and there are some other element Lapis Lazuli's, but they aren't as numerous as the water Lapis's, or the only type of Lapis Lazuli Homeworld can create now are the water ones.

I think Lapis is responsible for the magic that sustains the whirlpool around the sea spire, the magic that rebuilds the sea temple, and whatever magic the galaxy warp has going on that its presumably floating in the middle of the ocean. What if lapis built the crystal gem temple and that's why Rose originally approached her in the first place. Think about all the WATER involved in all the gems rooms. Heck, pearls room is nothing but water falls. After finishing the temple, Rose asked lapis to join the gems since building a temple for the enemy is a small act of rebellion and Rose believe lap

In terms of the theory I think both your ideas and AJ Universe's ideas could be valid (honestly until its cannon almost anything is up in the air).

The beta Kindergarten was made halfway through the rebellion, but we don't know when Pink Diamond was shattered. Jasper also that's she was there at the first war for the planet so the rebellion and war weren't at the _exact_ same time, the rebellion just lead into the war.

I think that lapis' ARE used to make kindergartens, and it's much preferred by homeworld. But the beta kindergarten was made midway through the war, when soldiers were needed. So the homeworlders took a canyon that was naturally formed, and threw some ejectors in the canyon.

Got a theory that might knock your socks right into the next nebula!
Ive recently been re watching Steven Universe and I just finished watching 'Gem Drill' where Steven stopped the cluster from forming and I thought of something.
If homeworld were to ever invade Earth, would the cluster help the crystal gems?
We've seen that Steven can reason with the cluster and it can respond to problems with cognitive thought e.g. when it bubbled individual shards to stop from forming. This means Steven could somehow convince the cluster to save it's home against homeworld. I know that you cant exactly bring the cluster out from the earth but the cluster isn't exactly melded together.
When steven communicated with the cluster he convinced them to bubble each other. So far we've seen that bubbling can only contain individual gems at a time, which means the cluster isn't molded into one huge ball, but small bits of shards placed together. That means it is possible that bits of shards of the cluster could be moved to the surface.

Here's an Idea they found 2 canyons and the first one was tweaked by Lapis to make it look like it does while the 2nd one was hastely thrown to together since they had need of the gems to be done quickly. AKA the first one wasn't fully usable in its natural state so Lapis came in and worn down the walls and floor of what was already there to make it perfect for their needs.
About the fact that it was the gems under Blue Diamonds court. I think that there was one exception, the armies. This is mainly because Peridot says that YD has control over all the armies of homeworld in Hit The Diamond, although that could just be a general statement because all the diamonds have at least some military power, that in the answer she tells Ruby "How dare you fuse with a member of my court" implying that Ruby's are not part of her court, and finally that it just doesn't seem like the almost passive Blue Diamond would command an Army.

Here's an hypothesis I have: Gem 'terraforming' occurs in stages. Stage one involves the making of water gems like pearls, opals and possibly lapis lazulis. This is where lapis lazulis come in. After the planet's resources (water and mollusks?) for these are used up, the peridots come in and make kindergartens. There may be other stages involving volcanoes for metamorphic gems that we don't know about yet. Also, since gems live basically forever unless shattered or cracked, I think that the formation of gems could possibly take decades or even centuries.
One thing that I wanted to add that you were already leaning towards is that peridot actually said that the prime kindergarten was made for ideal gems to be produced and that with a lack of troops they had to rush there plans during the war and make more troops thus meaning the beta kindergarten which would suggest that the first kindergarten was made but the second one was a canyon that they used because it was somewhat ideal
Really happy you did a video on this! As soon add I heard the song I had to listen to it over and over just to get what they said about Lapis gems, and then after I thought I heard it right I was like "wait, what the fuck does that mean?" And I just couldn't really figure it out. You're analysis is really well done and I agree, I think given what yellow diamond has said and with those structures designs having to do a lot with water I believe lapis would have had a large part in creating then. It could also be why the crystal gems kept lapis in the mirror for so long.
But what I don't get is that if Lapis was able to build these structures and build them pretty easily, wouldn't she be able to use that ability to access homeworld easier in Ocean Gem rather than just fly back? And why exactly would Jasper say that Steven should be scared of Lapis if terra forming was the only other ability that Lapis has? It doesn't seem like an ability that would make Steven scared of her, unless there is another place on earth that we have yet to see that is absolutely terrible, and that was what Lapis helped build?

I think that Lapis feels so alien to herself because she's been stuck in a mirror, taunting the fact that she hasn't gained confidence and happiness in herself. Instead of being able to find herself, she was stuck having to let people see who they are. She wants to be her own person, but she was trapped inside of a mirror, posing the fact that she literally can't be herself, since she's an object. I can see why she hated her prison so much, since she was just a thing, when really she was supposed to be this powerful person, deranged to a thing.
Not tiny things like islands, but HUGE areas, like the circular sea where Siberia was. Lapis Lazuli is a being that can manipulate gigatons of water to reach the edge of Earth's atmosphere. Imagine slamming that mass down to rip up continental plates, punch holes in the crust to trigger supervolcanoes, etc.
I'm surprised I haven't seen more theorizing and discussion about Lapis's purpose and what it means for what she was doing on earth.

The thing about Malachite on Mask Island can be explained with something else you said in this video: The Warp Pad. Mask Island was very popular, therefore, our Lapis has been there. She's not necessarily the one who made it.

This theory makes a lot of sense, esp. Lapises making Kindergardens, but there's one small incostistency- Lapis said she was only meant to visit Earth for a short time. If they were supposed to build, what, 60? kindergardens, and possibly a lot of other structures, you'd think that she would spend alot of time on Earth doing the job
I think one possible solution is that Lapises can create a "Red Sea" effect, so things like the sea shrine can be easily constructed on the sea floor, then covered.
hey round table, lets not also forget what formed the actual grand canyon and any canyon in general- water based erosion over time. (or whatever the word for it is). Basically, the accepted theory is that the colorado river is the reason for the grand canyon, because it carved it out over time. This kinda supports the Lapis building the kindergartens theory
I found this very interesting when I first heard the song.....I was honestly surprised to learn that lapis lazuli's are made to terraform....for some reason I judged a book by its cover and assumed (because of how she's dressed/her build) that lapis was a more aristocratic gem like sapphire/considered to be a member of her diamond's court and therefore above task that involve any form of "physical" labor (e.g Bismuth).
Yellow said "A Lapis" not just "Lapis", implying that either A: All Lapis' are used to terraform, but our Lapis Might not have terraformed any of the things you mentioned, or B: Just one particular Lapis terraformed something, maybe or maybe not our Lapis.
Here is a better question. Who did the Gems go to war against? They have armies, but why? Earth is a relatively young colony, and humans were pretty much beneath Diamond notice, so it was not to subdue a planet. Once a colony is formed all natural life is destroyed, so it can't be to keep subjugated planets under control.
Is there a bigger enemy out there. Perhaps that is what White Diamond is dealing with. An external enemy that the Crystal Gems will help battle using the new strategies developed by being themselves. Perhaps Steven, as a gem/human hybrid, plays a huge part in this unknown war.
I guess that makes sense and explains why she (and peridot) did what she did to the barn. Using what they had at their disposable to make their environment more suited to gems maybe?
The thing you said about the grand canyon. yeah, the grand canyon is a naturally formed structure on earth, but who says the gems couldnt have played a part in its formation in the show? the gems have been around for a long time and with how little people acknowledge all the gem locations everywhere, its possible the grand canyon has no significance in this universe to humans.
That's entirely possible and I'm open to that idea and considered it while making this video, to me, it just feels more of "The world of Steven Universe is ours but altered at a certain point by gems" so going off that idea, the Grand Canyon would've already existed by the time Homeworld arrived on it.

Personally I feel that the prime kindergarten existed already and with the abilities of Lapis Lazulies they were able to finely cut and make it wore neat with precision because they had time to unlike with the beta kindergarten where even Peridot said it was a rush job, they wouldn't have to cut and shape the rock to their desirable shape. You know, since water with the right amount of force can cut stone finely like a water jet saw or something and I definitely think that lapis is capable of that. So with having more time to turn the prime kindergarten into a desirable breeding ground, you can call it for gems it comes out looking artificial while the beta was very rushed and they didn't have the option of taking their time with it. quick summary: lapis takes the water off of earth like it shows happens before they completely hollow out the earth, when peridot and the gems went to the moon base.
I thought the Sea Shrine was confirmed to be a whole gem that just kept reforming over and over after being destroyed?

from what i heard before ''a lapis tears apart'' but terraform is what i really herad now when i watched it again
Given she can basically pull at lease an ocean's worth of water into a tall cylinder while cracked(s1e26 Ocean gem), "pat" a large roundish object hard enough to embed it half way into packed ground(s3e4 barn mates), and floods have been documented to be able to quickly carve landscapes(Canyon Lake Gorge flood).
Yes she or a team of them could have carved out the landscape to prep the alpha kindergarten and other areas so that the other gems could get to work.
Every time I hear the song, I hear "a lapis to REPORT" and that supports the theory that's she's a messenger gem. It doesn't make sense to me how lapis can "terraform"

This has probably been said but I do agree with you, but I also think she helped terraform the kindergarten. In natural erosion, many canyons (including the Grand Canyon) were made by a river eroding through it. Maybe lapis's with water manipulation abilities had formed the kindergarten using water to erode away. Also the reason the beta kindergarten was really poorly done was because the lapises had to do it quickly, which is why Peridot calls it a "rush job".
Perhaps lapis removed water from the kindergarten because it's a cannon which is formed by water but it doesn't have any water it it? It doesn't even rain there as we can see in back to the kindergarten
My headcanon is that Lapis was helping make the human zoo, which is why she wasn't supposed to be there very long
Lapis did mention she was only to be on Earth for a short time but was caught in the fighting. meaning that she was sent some place where a battle started during the start of the War. This mean's she very likely had no real part to play in the war.
There is also the possibility that Terraforms is actually Tells Reports, unless it's been proven otherwise, which means that she would have other reason to be on Earth for such a short time and be caught up in a sudden battle only to be imprisoned.

When Lapis was telling Steven about her backstory she told him that she came to Earth just to visit and caught herself in the middle of a war.
She didn't terraform anything on Earth, other Lazulis did, and Bismuth tought she was one of them.
