I grew up with a 961 and a 981 tractor ... Dad currently is restoring a 640 tractor... We did practically everything with the tractors ....we had practically all of the Ford attachments for those tractors ... 2 row rear cultivator a 4 Row front mount cultivator ...we had a rear mounted 3 point mower and crimper we had a 4 ppont blade .. even ran the Ford 540 Bailer with them
Beautiful job, nice work taking your it all apart. Man, I'd be afraid to go back in the woods w/ that and mess up that pain, that is a show tractor now!!
My dad has a 195? 8 N that was fully rebuilt and painted. I used it once with a brush cutter and hit a stump and it launched. Scared him so it has just sat in his barn for 13 years. My son and I want to buy it from and get it going again. Thank you for the tips. Look forward to seeing more.
I used your video to paint my old 1944 Ford 2n tractor with Majic paint and it worked out great. Thanks for the video. Also a Steiner Tractor is the place to go for all the parts you need.
This brings back memories! My grandpaw had a 801 4 speed diesel with the spin out wheels. We used the heck outta that thing and now it belongs to my uncle who still has it. Great lookin paint job!
@Phil Hall I bet he was really pleased . Nice work. I just picked up a 1986 f600 with 32k miles but gas 370 v8. Been sitting a long time. The 841 tractor that I got is a great runner, been using it often.
I had a 56 ford 850. I loved that tractor. I now have an 1841 ford industrial tractor. Which is basically the same thing as the 850. Just with a Diesel engine and a heavy front-end loader.
That really is a great-looking tractor. I've seen how well tractor restoration projects can come out when the owners put in a little bit of time and effort to making it look attractive. I know a farmer who restored a vintage International 140, and still uses it. It looks absolutely stunning.
Awesome job!!! I have a '58 861 that runs great, but needs some hydraulic work done. I'm fortunate enough to live only twenty minutes away from Steiner's...replaced the emblem, proofmeter and a few other minor parts on the road to a full restoration. For now it's our workhorse, but down the road I hope to get it back to close to the day it rolled out of Dearborn.
I have a old child's swing set you can have to hang parts on to paint on if you want to come to Iowa. I'll even leave the chains hanging on it for you!! R.O.F.L.M.A.O. OH, I forgot paint job looks awesome dude.
Awesome job" I just test drove 2 Ford 800 tractors for our homestead. Looking to purchase one soon" would love to do a restore paint job like this " Awesome info share " thanks so much for the knowledge. You just won me as a subscriber "
wow! i ordered a steiner catalogue. thanks for the video. I don't know anything about tractors. I didn't ever think of one for my dad. he will love it. I think i am gonna surprise him with a new seat and steering wheel.
Is this place like AutoZone or O Reilleys where you can walk up to a counter for a part? or is it like a pick and pull? I found a shop half hour from my cousin's by Lansing.
We are located in Lennon, MI. Our store hours are Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm, and Saturdays from 8 am -12 pm. All of the parts you see on our website/in our catalog are available at our store. Hope to see you in the store one day!
I am looking for one like that with a loader as we speak. If you have any advice on where I can get a restored one, that would be great. That tractor turned out AMAZING!!! Truly great work!! The older I get the more I can appreciate this kind of Americana. Thanks for the great video.
You mentioned doing videos on how to restore tractors. I have a 57' 601 that I would love to fix up but not sure where to start. Any suggestions on learning?
Just found this video. Dad had a 1953 Jubilee and now my brother owns it. I understand you really like the Magic Paint but you are missing a very important point. The paint seems to work there but to really recommend the paint maybe you should ship the tractor here to see how it holds up to the Florida sun for a decade or so. Just throwing that out there. Let me know when it will arrive. Love those old Fords.
looks great, have an 8n as well I think the biggest project would be get all the little oil leaks seals ect repaired so it stays looking good one step at a time I guess
Ha! I hear ya! Mine had one up near the front of the block. I finally traced it to the governor - someone put it back together at some point without a gasket!
Good for a year then turns chalky. You really should put some clear coat over it for UV protection. Speedo Kote makes some good quality products at fair prices.
I'm going to paint my horse trailer with this paint. Do you always use a primer even when painting a painted surface? Do you lightly sand between the coats of paint?
I can't wait 24 hours between coats ... I'm not using the catalyst either . Reducing with naptha reducer at 50 degrees and shooting it ... I'm hoping for no problems cracking the paint ... Guess I will see what happens . I paint cars for a living .. 30 years . I'm hoping that evaporation is so slow that it won't craze . Crossing my fingers .
How did it come out? How about reducing w/ acetone? harder make flash lot quicker- tac coat wait 20 min on decent day hit medium coat - Then wait but final coat wet-
Wow. VERY impressive. Some day I'll do my Ford 3600 like that - blue, of course. How long did it take you to tear the tractor down to paint? Also, I've heard people use the term "paint bomb." I like that you didn't paint the black rubber, etc. Is it standard to paint the bolts and everything?

Sharp looking tractor. Wish I could paint my tractor like that in less than 16 minutes.
Beautiful job, nice work taking your it all apart. Man, I'd be afraid to go back in the woods w/ that and mess up that pain, that is a show tractor now!!

I have a 1953 Jubilee with 70 hrs since total rebuilding. New paint. I love my tractor.

Awesome theme music to match that awesome tractor! 😃👍
So here we are in 2020. How is that Majic paint holding up? I am on the fence about paint brands, and not sure which direction I should go.
Great job beauty rig
Great job!!!
Just wanted to say HI Guy!! The camera man!!! Lmao
Each time I view this video I am amazed !!!!
Beautiful!
I wish this guy was my Dad!
Beautiful
Great job!!!
Just today I painted my bucket :)
Wow looks wonderful
Nice job, looks like you have the wrong exhaust elbow on the manifold. The elbow on a 172 CI is bigger than the 134.
Thanks for the great video! What did you do with the old rusty bolts and nuts?
Looks great!
You mentioned doing videos on how to restore tractors. I have a 57' 601 that I would love to fix up but not sure where to start. Any suggestions on learning?
Great looking tractor
Great video!
Wow. It looks like it just came from the factory in 1953.
Just found this video. Dad had a 1953 Jubilee and now my brother owns it. I understand you really like the Magic Paint but you are missing a very important point. Any Enamel will turn chalky after 1-2 years in the sun. Needs some clear coat to cut the UV rays
You did a very good job .
Wow! Beautiful tractor!
How do you think that paint would be on my wood chipper ??.. and that tractor looks fine, very nice job.. thanks for the video..
It will look great for a few months, then it will fade and chalk terrible
Great job.
That looks really good. I have an 801 and want to do the same.
Looks like new. Good job.
looks great, have an 8n as well I think the biggest project would be get all the little oil leaks seals ect repaired so it stays looking good one step at a time I guess
Ha! I hear ya! Mine had one up near the front of the block. I finally traced it to the governor - someone put it back together at some point without a gasket!
Hello! I was wondering about an update on this paint job, has it faded much? Can you clear this paint and can you polish it, if it dulls over time???
You can clear over it, use a red scotch brite to dull the Majic. No you really can’t buff the enamel per se
All the paint washed off after first rain.
I like Your music. Where can I find the music ?
Awesome job
I wanna know what kinda wheels those are on the dually. They don't look quite big enough to be a 22.5.
im planning on painting a car with majic tractor paint. in wondering hows the paint holding up to the sun in regards to fading
Good for a year then turns chalky. You really should put some clear coat over it for UV protection. Speedo Kote makes some good quality products at fair prices.
Awesome!!!
Looks Good - What paint gun & tip did use?
We are not sure what was used on this... I would reach out to a local painter to see if they have suggestions.
Excellent job Dan! How long did the entire job take?
super job, looks great.
She sure is pretty
9:46 the ratio is 1:8 for both chemicals. 1 ounce of reducer and hardener for every 8 ounces of paint
you did a good job
+ricky donaldson Thank you!
Fantastic! What silver did you use on the exhaust system?
We're not really sure as this video was created by someone else. Sorry!
i used a rattle can worth on my old c10 of the international harvister red not bad but cant wait to see the rest finished
I'm going to paint my horse trailer with this paint. Do you always use a primer even when painting a painted surface? Do you lightly sand between the coats of paint?
No way I'd take that out in the woods again. I'd drive that to hot rod night at Steak & Shake.. 😎
How about reducing w/ acetone? harder make flash lot quicker- tac coat wait 20 min on decent day hit medium coat - Then wait but final coat wet-
Did he clear it or just single stage? Nice gloss on fenders didn't see when painting.
I have a ? Can I take the power steering. Off and put it on my 48 8n?
What are you using for a respirator? Excellent work. You got some beautiful results there.
I am not sure.Try contacting our friends at www.TeamFitzgerald.com who shot this video to see if they can help you out :-)
Thanks! Let us know if you need help with any of your tractor restorations!
My 841 had the tool box on the left floorboard. I notice this one doesn't
