Loved the video. Michigan is known for its fudge, especially on Makinaw Island. We also like cherry pie, with cherries from Traverse City. Another thank you for spelling scotheroos properly
While biscochitos may be the official state cookie of New Mexico, and is very popular at Christmas and other events, it is the sopiapilla that is king of desserts! While it may be popular in AZ, and like you said “it was developed in New Mexico”, almost every New Mexican style meal (a combination of Mexican, Spanish, Anglo, and Native American that is heavy on corn, beans, squash, and chiles) is automatically followed with sopiapillas. Start a dish like stacked enchiladas, burritos, posole, green chile stew, etc, and you usually don’t need to order the sopiapillas. A basket gets dropped off at you table, hot from the fryer. They’re especially good with drizzled honey (or you tear off a corner and drip the honey inside it) after eating a meal that packs a lot of heat from either the red or green chile that gets poured over almost every dish in the state.
Part of the charm of PA's shoofly pie is its simplicity; you just need to use the right kind of syrup for the wet bottom. Either Karo Dark or Turkey Syrup should work. You'll also find whoopie pies in every farm market, here. Right before Ash Wednesday, fastnachts (potato donuts cut in half and spread with butter and/or syrup) are everywhere.
Thank you! As a California native, I was appalled that they put fortune cookies for us considering we also have maple bars, chiffon pie, chiffon cake, rocky road ice cream and as you mentioned Hot Fudge Sundaes. Also though not invented in CA we are well known for donuts.
@@sliverscreencritic Funny enough, Insider Food put out their own dessert video like this one two years ago and they put donuts for California as the top dessert. They also put akutaq for Alaska instead of the baked Alaska.
What is oddly hard to find outside of Chicago is simple custard pie. Also missing in the upper Midwest are cream puffs, which are a Wisconsin State Fair specialty. The bakeries in Minnesota were baffled when I asked about them.
Sopapillas are not just a sweet treat in New Mexico. They are a thin fry bread that puffs up to form a cavity that can be filled with meat, cheese, etc. Can also be used as table bread to scoop up the sauces from a plate meal. Hard to find in other places, but easy to make at home.
In any other state, Shave Ice, would just be a snow cone. But, since most Hawaiians have never seen snow... (Even though Mauna kea is a snow capped mountain.) steve
I had no idea that seven layer bars or the Minnesota desert. I’ve had them, just never made them. But they’re pretty good. I would probably go for Iowa’s favorite dessert the scotch a ruse before the seven layer bar. But I do make a pretty mean scotch a ruse by myself
The topic is best dessert in the state and has salt water taffy for NJ. How is salt water taffy a dessert? You go to a diner for dessert and you won't see salt water taffy on the menu. @14:00
...when unusually hot weather caused corn kernels to pop... Popcorn won't pop, unless heated to well above boiling temps. You sure this is Nebraska, or hell? steve
WRONG about North Dakota. Lefse depends on what you put in it. It's a Norwegian wrap, but the best desert is Rømmegrøt !! and I never heard of that stuff you assigned to Minnesota.
I have never had biscochitos like hardtack. They are a shortbread, and should be tender (especially if they’re made with the traditional lard). Besides, while biscochitos are the state cookie, the dessert you find everywhere here is the sopiapillas. They automatically follow New Mexican dishes at almost any restaurant…great at putting out the burn from the chiles. 🌶
Another magic Mashed video about States best cuisine🙄 watch they're just going to say something from New York City🥱 again is the best in New York state 🤷♂️while never giving any of the rest of the state a try!!! I'm so🤬 tired of this😡

"SOPAPILLAS PLEASE!"
_>gives white nachos with guac and salsa_
Been living in Arkansas for 35 yrs and never heard of possum pie 🥧
I haven't either, but head to The Big Orange restaurant in Little Rock for some possum pie.
I'm furiously yt searching these deserts to make at home. Or just dream about making them.. and cry. ☺️🤗 Thanks for sharing!❤❤

There's a place in Ardmore Oklahoma that sells good fried pies. Really enjoyed your video.
Mmmm yummy Thank you for sharing have a blessed evening stay safe and healthy. ❤🙏❤🙏
Saw the title and guessing right away: creme puff for Wisconsin. Delicious and iconic
Oh my gosh. I want to try them all.
So do I!
The best dessert for California: Fortune Cookies
I dunno about you but just because it's slightly sweet doesn't make it a dessert-
The morons who produced this show have no idea.
Insider Food two years ago named donuts as California's top dessert.
Help, send food! I'm hungry 🤤
Seven Hunnid on UA-cam is suprisly entertaining
Doesn't Oregon have desserts other than Mario berry Pie?
?
As a Kentuckian, I LOVE it when my mom makes bourbon balls.

Pecan Pie , Cheese Cake for my favorites. But let's be honest , they all would satisfy the sugar needs.! 👍
Mackinac Island fudge is amazing. So are Buckeyes.
I’ve lived in Washington state all my life and haven’t heard of Nanaimo bars 😂
Fortune cookies are not a dessert, I don't care where they were invented. Hot Fudge Sundae was invented here and is a REAL dessert.
Thank you! As a California native, I was appalled that they put fortune cookies for us considering we also have maple bars, chiffon pie, chiffon cake, rocky road ice cream and as you mentioned Hot Fudge Sundaes. Also though not invented in CA we are well known for donuts.

A sampling of each of these desserts on my dining room table...

Those monster cream puffs that they serve at all of the fairs in Wisconsin and Minnesota are par for the course.
I grew up in Tucson.. haven't had a Sopapilla in 45 years....

Salt Water Taffy for New Jersey? Seriously? I would say Cannolis
North Carolina: Sweet Potato 🍠 Pie 🥧
Lifelong Alaskan here…literally no one eats or serves Baked Alaska here. What a joke.
The numbnuts who produced this joke of a show have absolutely no clue.
I had concerns considering another channel's video had akutaq for Alaska.
In any other state, Shave Ice, would just be a snow cone.
But, since most Hawaiians have never seen snow...

In my 24 years of living in Connecticut, I’ve never heard of nutmeg cookies. I’m starting to think y’all just like insulting us.
I had no idea that seven layer bars or the Minnesota desert. I’ve had them, just never made them. But they’re pretty good. I would probably go for Iowa’s favorite dessert the scotch a ruse before the seven layer bar. But I do make a pretty mean scotch a ruse by myself

I would've thought candied apples.
Uhh I’m in Alabama and never ever had a lane cake LOL or ever seen one fake news !

kernels to pop...
Popcorn won't pop, unless heated to well
above boiling temps.

I don’t like my lefse with any sugar, just butter thank you. So, not a dessert.
Nutmeg cookies are NOT a thing in CT.
Would snickerdoodles be more accurate (according to Insider Food)?
Your recipe looks great. Of course it will be very tasty to eat.You will tell me in the comments. How do you like my recipe? Thanks.
Excuse me?? Jello and mayo? What in caucuses mountain....? WHAT?😮
TOTALLY DELICIOUS Video ❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️
Did she say colorados illegal weed business? Salt water taffy is a dessert?
Jell-O salad is the single most disgusting dessert ever
As someone from Tennessee when the hell have we eaten moon pies 🤢🤢🤢🤢
I was surprised they didn't say Whiskey cake. They do make moon pies though it's not as popular here
I should not have watched this! LOL.. Now I'm in a trance!
That jello dessert from Utah looked awful
Bro! Hot chocolate does not count!
Hot chocolate, or hot cocoa, is not a dessert.
Georgia 🍑 🥰
Biscochitos are just disgusting. They are just hardtack with a little cinnamon sugar.

I State this comment before I even watching the video
Most of these deserts look 🤮
