Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for honoring Gordon, in my opinion the greatest singer/songwriter who ever lived. I saw him in concert 35 times, and was honored to meet him after a concert here in Chicago a few years ago. He was kind enough to pose for a picture with my wife and me.
By far, one of the best covers you all do. Dar - your voice is absolutely perfect for ballads and Gordon Lightfoot would be honored by your performance!
I moved from my home to the coast for work when I was 18. This song brings me tears because it completely describes how I felt as a kid, stepping into adulthood. Such a great rendition. Bittersweet memories. Love it!
I just bought 2 Gordon Lightfoot albums at a yard sale this morning for $2 a piece! I almost feel like I hit the lottery. They were barely played and still in the shrink wrap! Great version by the way!
I first heard this performed by The Kingston Trio, then about three years ago Gordon Lightfoot came to the Maine Center for the Arts and performed all evening to perfection. Of course this was part of the performance, but Gordon sang just about everything for which he is remembered. Simply the best, finest concert I've ever attended - bar none. He opened the second set with "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", note for note sounding like a perfect recording, but very much alive. He is quite justly regarded as a Canadian National Treasure. God bless the time he wrote, sang, and performed amongst us. Darwin, you did him justice. Yours too, was a fine and soulful performance. This is just great band.
I'd like to think Gordon will now smile and tap his angelic foot every time he hears Darwin sing this. Very nice harmony, Darwin and Tim. RIP, Gordon... Thanks for posting!
I am crying as I listen to Darwin sing this song so beautifully and with so much heartfelt emotion. Now my absolute favorite version of this Gordon classic. Thank you! Sending hugs to all F&F!
Such a perfect version of the great song. Where are all the musical poets today? The Denvers, the Lightfoots, the Dylans? Where are they? Seriously. Are we that fucked up in this country?
I'm old enough to remember this song sung by Peter, Paul and Mary. It's the version that strikes a chord in me yet today. I didn't realize it was written by Gordon Lightfoot until just now. But I'm blown away with this F&F version sung by Darwin with harmony by Tim. As always they make every cover they do start a new life.
Being Canadian & in light of Gordon Lightfoot's Death - Memories just flooded into my brain. I just wept. Reading the comments - I am not the only one that wept. Thank you Darwin and Fossils. It was such a beautiful rendition of the song.
One of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs. Always reminds me of my brother and my early days in the Army. Great rendition; you do it with finesse and emotion. Thank you
I remember being in Georgia on a Sunday morning in a fine misty rain being lonely as hell. This song always takes me back there and I hope I never ever feel like that morning again. Good job, guys, and, of course, to Gordon who passed just recently.
@@Brucev7 I saw him last fall. I have mixed feelings about seeing him. On the one hand, I am glad that I got to see him before he passed away. On the other hand, due to his age and declining health, his performance was negatively impacted. I think somebody should have told him to retire sooner than he did.
@@ctarabocchia You think, after hearing he was in the Hospital, and he was on a Tour, if he was trying to milk every last minute of his temporal life on Earth. It was around 10 yrs ago, when the concert was. You could tell much time had lapsed. But, as someone else posted, "He was very down to earth and personable."
I respect who he was and what he was. If you can’t see past what age does to all of us it’s because you’re too young to understand. If you’re lucky, you’re time will come. A life doesn’t get frozen at a certain age. It evolves. You might get to decide when it’s time for you to quit. Don’t judge the choices made by others.
@@Brucev7 I last saw him in concert 2011 in Canada and he was in good voice and after the show before he left he talk for about 20 minutes. It was in Cornwall Ontario.
Another great cover of a classic song by Gordon Lightfoot. F&F always do these great artists justice. Thank you for posting this. RIP Gordon Lightfoot.
I have to say it: the foxes were the hook that got me watching y'all. But this is hands down my favorite song you've done--I love how the original video was posted with a disclaimer about there being no foxes : )
Fantastic Job on this Gordon Lightfoot song. As a Canadian who was lucky enough to see Gordon in concert, I think Mr.Lightfoot would have given a thumbs up to your interpretation of his song. Well done all.👍👍🇨🇦

As with me and my wife, my late father-in-law was a huge fan of Gordo. He would be chuffed to know that they are both interred at the same cemetery in Orillia Ontario.
Every adaptation by you folks…. Foxs is just gold. Did all folks know that the day Gordon passed, the Great Lakes Mariners Church in Detroit rang the bell 30 times & shall continue to do so for every commemoration of the Fitz sinking. ❤ our men, ❤ Gordon.
I wept too - it is amazing how a song can warp ones mind back in my case over 55 years. Memories just flood ones mind - people places and in the process - we weep for the ones we lost.

Thank you for remembering him and helping us remember him better. At least one old soldier, me, considers this cover a "full military" sendoff.
Gordon Lightfoot will be dearly missed. Thanks for this tribute to him.
Brilliant tribute to the late Gordon Lightfoot.
What a lovely version of a great song. Darwin sounds a bit like Willie Nelson, and that's a big compliment.
Was thinking the same, although Willie has a little more vibrato.
Maybe Darwin might do Pancho and lefty
Thinking the same thing.
This is an excellent tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, carefully crafted by Dar & fellow Fossils!
Beautiful job! Gordon would be proud. Rest in Paradise ❤
Dammit, Darwin! You either making me cry or laugh. You’re a beautiful, emotive singer and I just love you to bits.

Foxes and Fossils is not about finding superlative music, it is about finding an entire new plane of existence. A true musical multiverse!
